@@heartslove1942 It can, but it's easy to fix by rewetting that section of hair, or when you're building the braid: making sure that you're combing through the sections you take so they're smooth going in. If it helps, this technique is how i got the waves in the picture that is literally my profile pic.

I’m not following. A Dutch braid goes under the middle strand. Wouldn’t that keep it closer to the scalp and make it flatter? The French braid going over the middle would give more volume.

I have a great tip! After you take out the bands but before you finger comb the braids out, take each bottom section of each braid stand and curl it with the curling iron. It takes two seconds and makes it look so less braid-y.
I followed Desi’ tutorial and wore my hair like this to work last week and got SO many compliments. I have a very slight wave to my hair with straight ends and it worked perfect on my hair and lasted for two Days.
First! Also, TRY THE CURLY GIRL METHOD!!! As a wavy-curly girl, I can testify it has changed my life! Though it can be hard to find a good sulfate-free shampoo--I recommend Andalou Naturals.
I often do this to add texture to my very straight hair (as it’s bleached I don’t like to add heat when I don’t need to) but I find a rope twist makes a better wave than a braid 😊

Izu mine too, hon. Don’t feel bad. I have super fine, thin hair. It’s ok. Getting volume in it and keeping a short to medium cut Serves me best. One girl said it was about the thinnest she has seen (but it’s also super fine), so I try to not worry about it much. It looks fine styled, and it’s naturally straight, so I just roll big curlers in the front. I try to just use heat no more than 1x a week
Same! But I have a friend with the thickest hair I've ever seen, and I wouldn't switch with her because I can blow dry my hair in 3 minutes (I've timed it before 🙈), and it takes her over an hour. She has to take breaks, her arms ache afterword, and it's SO HEAVY.
Laura McCarthy I've learned to appreciate my thick hair, especially since it's naturally silver now. Getting an undercut was a revelation. I started doing more braids and buns. But it's always a case of wanting what someone else has, aye?

yes! I would love to see that as well! Also, probably the easiest way to put your hair up to sleep is a bonnet. just look on amazon for sleeping bonnets. just make sure they're the satiny kind :)
Some people have waves that look like this, just like some people, like Spisha Malik on IG (Ayesha Malik on yt but unsure of spelling) has perfect curling iron ringlets, naturally. Not everyones curls are the same. Some people naturally have super "unnatural" looking waves and/or curls.
@Kit Lane I have a square silk scarf that I got from Target that I use! Here's how I wrap my hair and the only way it has stayed in for me: (It depends on the length of your hair but I find my hair holds up better if I pineapple it before wrapping) 1. Grab your scarf. Bend down at the waist (like a forward fold in yoga), flip your head over, and then put your head under the scarf in the middle of it. The rest of the scarf should be hanging flat over your hair. 2. Tie the two ends at the back together at your forehead and double knot it. All of your hair should be in between the scarf and the tie. 3. Your scarf should be secured on your head without needing to hold it by now. Grab the two corners of the scarf at the front and double knot it at the nape of your neck. I let the scarf cover my ears so that it stays on better. 4. You should be done! When you flip back over, your scarf will look like a square pillowcase on your head. It ain't cute, but it works. The end!! :)

The tip with oil I have never heard. I never knew how to fix that
If u have fine, thin hair-I have some great suggestions (but would still love to see a video, ideally with some cheaper options too). In general, I’ve found some great gems from good beands, but much cheaper than products at Sephora from huge names. I had a goldwell shine spray I used for years!
As a natural wavy/curly girl my roots are straight! When my hair is short, its straight. If its medium length, its wavy. If its long, it will be curly. The straight roots with curly ends can be natural!

I am a former hairstylist and here is my pro tip. Try Dutch braids instead of French braids. And pancake the braids. Make sure you fluff them even if you hear damp pull them apart a bit. I pull them apart quite a bit because I have fine hair. This will make it look less like that cramped I just braided my hair and give you better actual waves to work with as a base. Also more volume. I have thin fine hair and this trick does wonders for me! I do 2 Dutch braids, straight back (like you normally would instead of 4 going down the sides of your hair). And braid closer to your part so you dont have that straight top 2 inches. Your sister (sorry don't want to spell her name wrong) could do 3 or 4 braids straight back, kind of like thick chunky corn rows. I watched a video by milabu. That's where I learned this trick. She might explain it better! Hope this helps. I do this all the time. I actually shower in the morning, let my hair air dry for half an hour or so then braid it in 2Dutch braids and fluff then. Then I where my hair like that all day for work. Sleep in it. Then take it out the next morning. 2 cute hair styles ;-) Then I will take the braids out. Fluff. And add a few random curls where needed. This is my go to for summer and travel.
This is legit how I diy’d my hair for my wedding. I also wore a flower crown, so any weirdness was covered up but it was so beachy and quick and easy to wear all day!

Keep doing these types of videos. I have super long hair so I know I wont get anyone trying hair tutorials that also has a similar hair length and type to me. But I feel like most people I see trying it out have short hair, and/or are professionals which is why Anna Laura is awesome to have on these videos.
You sweet young ladies just put a permanent smile on my face. You mesh, blend, flow, and repeat so well. I have long hair for the first time in my life. Mommy Dearest wouldn’t allow it. So I started growing it at age 52... and did all kinds of beach wave things, a watched instructional and informative from videos like yours. I’d get a color putting three shades of blonde weave in with the mousey brown, and my first lightening strip of gray, every 8 months, as Im one the US of A’s, retired and broke people. I had her blunt cut the bottom instead of cutting the ends whispering and have the humidity year round, ruin my hair the minute I get out side. She had to take 3 inches off to offset the damaged hair. I’m now blunt cut, and pleased, oh so very much! I’m a big fan ladies, make me pretty, with your tutorials. I will be watching! I love both results but Kayley's looks fab on shorter hair! But when she said to brush it!! As a curly girl, I never brush my hair with a brush like that!! It's the perfect way to get frizz!
I've found that a 4-strand 3d braid (that I learned from Kayley's OG braid encyclopedia video) makes theeeeeee softest, prettiest waves with so much more body than a flat braid could ever accomplish
The best way I've found for avoiding flat pieces at the top is to do the French braid from the bottom up instead of from the part line down. So if you were just doing one French braid down the middle of your head, you would start at the nape of your neck and work to the front of your head. You look crazy while the braids are in, but you get waves that start really close to your scalp.

i have done the french braid curly method for years. but didn't know the trick about the curling afterwards and leaving the space on the wand. I like the new format with short hair and long hair. i have had long straight hair for most my life but recently started to cut it shoulder length once a year. you are definitely my hairtype goals. Maggie I. Watch leesha’s video! She did curly girl for a year, and by the end of the year she did cut off some of her ends, but it looks fantastic now! Edit: it looked really good even after a couple weeks. She just found that it looked best at the end. Sierra scultzie has done it too & Jocelyn Davis (non-hair RUclipsrs), if anyone wants another perspective, from someone who just figured it out...
You can get it back. You just may have to grow and chop the super dead ends. But I think it usually takes like 3-4 months to start really seeing your natural curl pattern. Check out Ayesha Malik on yt or her IG Spisha Malik.
Hi, I've been watching a lot of your videos and I enjoy them. This would be my first comment. I have natural curly hair, but it took me sooooo much to find my curly method. I learned that natural curls curl only in one direction, this is interesting for finger coiling. So curling forward and backward is actually not more natural. Another thing is about the ends, I used to get my waves from braids a lot, and I would never use heat on the end. It is mostly effective if you dampen the ends, use a little styling cream and scrunch, then just let air dry. It works on straight hair too, because the idea is to break up naturally that crafty look at the end of the braid.
I would love to watch you ladies try more hair tutorials. I also liked how you went over the final checklist and how you would change it, etc. Personally, I have very thick, curly hair and would love to get your insight on the curly girl method. I used to do this all the time with my long hair ( I had close to 4 feet of it). I never used heat but it look mostly natural cause my hair is dark and I got really good at doing it. You can get the same results with out heat but it takes time, practice and experimentation with your own hair type. As long as you use good products then it will work. I also recommend the tips and tricks that these two made, as it makes a world or difference. Thanks and I love you both 💕💕💕

Mercy Mathew they make sleep bonnets and silk pillow cases. This is stuff suggested when you look into what people use when doing the curly girl method And I just go in with my curling iron & I usually use a 2 in 1 heat protectant hairspray like chi

Could you do a SUPER in depth how to french braid tutorial?? Specifically on short hair! Maybe a small series could be "back to the basics" where you go over "basic" techniques in depth? French braid, dutch braid, fishtail, etc.

I've just started to properly take care of my hair, but don't really know what products are good to use for just general hair care. Love to see a current hair care routine and products that are good to use.
I have done finger waves too, it was very fun. Afterwards I had all this setting lotion left. I decided to incorporate it into some heatless curls as well as with heat.... omg, what a great find. My hair stays smooth, shiny, tons of hold, but soft. It is great, inexpensive... it just works. Dilute properly, spray it in while damp, then do whatever. Even if I let my hair air-dry it works well. Can always curl it or whatever you want later, you'll still get the hold. Plus this is great if you have no clue what you feel like doing with your hair that day because it is so versatile. My mom has very bleached hair that doesn't like to hold and this works well for her too, even for blowouts. I'm talking like days of hold. Not hours. Days. With one product. It's nuts.
Ive used this trick for years with my natural texture, and I talk about it a lot for my hair clients to give them that option!! I love that the whole head looks curled, even if it’s wavy underneath ;)

Trisha Chan i have pretty straight thick hair and love French braiding to avoid the straight 2 inches of hair being straight. I have always done 2 French braids to get wavy hair. Im excited to try the 4 braid method and curing pieces the next morning.

Natural wavy hair comes with straight roots. Curly hair is curly all the way around, but with braids you're getting wavy hair, not curly, so don't obsess over it since straight roots it's actually pretty natural and common! I have natural wavy hair that legit only curls from ears down with a super straight top sooooo
I love this tutorial with your changes and can't wait to try it! I have naturally very curly hair that really has been bleached too hard but I will not commit to curly girl so I feel like this is a great way to let my natural texture come through with a boost
I highly recommend trying the CGM. The best thing to start it off would be to do a protein mask to encourage your natural texture to come out (I recommend Shea Moisture’s Manuka Honey and Yogurt Protein Power Treatment, turned my hair from 2C to 3A curls).
I wanna see more hair collabs. Makeup RUclipsrs do so many and I feel like it's much less frequent among hair RUclipsrs. You, Milabu, Harmonize Beauty, Chloe Morello, and Fit Mission Makeup are some of my favorites (for short hair gals like moi).
I have wavy hair and I've used this a lot when I need to wash my hair at night and want it looking great the next day without having to spend so much time doing the curly method stuff at night and then again in the morning. For the tips, what I usually do is on the last turn of the elastic, I pull in the hair leaving a little loop. It really helps it not look as straight!
I love this hair style! Especially having short hair like Kayley! I think this would also be really cute with a baseball cap or a high half up pony tail!

I love this! I started the curly girl method a year ago, and it has definitely changed my hair. I had natural ringlets as a toddler which became slight waves as I got older, but I have curls again! Honestly though, I don't do the full CGM, mostly because I'm lazy. Sulfate free shampoo, silicone free conditioner and lots of scrunching the conditioner in and scrunching as I rinse it out, and as I microfiber towel dry it. Then I let it air dry while sleeping (just from a damp stage). Though I do really want to try the braids method and see what that does!

Yes pleeeease try out the Curly Girl Method, cause I've been on it for nearly two years now and I love seeing other people's results 😂 does take quite a commitment and the hardest bit was sticking to as little heat as possible, but the results were amazing and my hair feels and looks the best it's ever been!
I hate my natural hair and have been "curling" it for YEARS! My pro tip is just with your damp hair, just braid your crown braid, the one you did a few years ago, that starts in the back and you have to tip your hair forwards to start the braid. Bad description, but hope you get it 😅 it soo easy and makes the most natural and beautiful curls! Comfortable to sleep in and you get your whole hair, the top included! I did the two braids for years, but after seeing your crown braid, I've been using that everyday since ☺️ Don't need any products or heat!
I would love to see more heatless hairstyles! I am not a morning person so I love being able to do most of the work on my hair before bed (plus, heatless!). Maybe you could do something like a week of different heatless curls, and compare the results of each method? It took me ages to figure out which curl method worked best for me...
I've done this for years and people thought my hair was naturally curly. Dutch braiding gives you more defined texture at the roots than french and the waves are less kinky. I use a volumizing mousse. Then I curl random strands and wear it out! It blends so effortlessly and doesn't all look perfect very natural. For the second day I curl all the strands Third day I just leave it. Fourth day I do a waterfall braid and touch up as needed. Mousse really holds the volume and style and braids keep the texture going! Great option when I know I need to look good all week for social stuff and have a good base to work with!

You should try 2 Dutch braids and make sure the ends are loose so they don’t look crimped at whacky. And then use this method to curl a few top pieces! This works soooo good!
I like to do braids before I go to bed, but something that has helped the curls look more natural is doing a zig-zag part before braiding. Once you put it in your natural part, it isn’t so uniform with the waves, making it look naturally curly. Doing that with French braids is a winner in my book.
Yes to the curly girl method. I have been doing it for two months now and my waves are getting better. It's more work than my old routine of just washing and brushing my hair but I have beach waves now instead of straight hair.
I actually went old school with knee high panty hose. I twisted up my hair with them like old school rag curls and to prevent frizzing, I used one of the knee highs as a cap. One of the best styles Ive had.
To help AL with the straightness at the top: I do French braids instead of regular braids. I actually do French Braid pigtails and sleep on it, then the next day will just take a 3/4 in sand to the front pieces and a few random pieces throughout to mix it up and it’s good to go. Like you I don’t do it on my normal part too because it helps with volume at the root - I’m a deep side parter so I do the part for the braids down the middle and it works out for me.
I sleep in 2 Dutch braids once or twice a week to get this lewk, without doing touchups, but I do use my clamp curling iron just to curl my ends in or out slightly to get rid of the straight braid-end bit. I use really big sections since I literally just put the bottom inch or two in the clamp for a few seconds, so it only takes like 30 seconds total
I recommend dutch braids instead of french because braiding outward adds volume to the root!

Plus rope braids help to avoid the crimped mess at the ends where the hair is too thin/fine to braid and it just looks weird.

Some people have waves that look like this, just like some people, like Spisha Malik on IG (Ayesha Malik on yt but unsure of spelling) has perfect curling iron ringlets, naturally. Not everyones curls are the same. Some people naturally have super "unnatural" looking waves and/or curls.

@Kit Lane I have a square silk scarf that I got from Target that I use! Here's how I wrap my hair and the only way it has stayed in for me:
(It depends on the length of your hair but I find my hair holds up better if I pineapple it before wrapping)
1. Grab your scarf. Bend down at the waist (like a forward fold in yoga), flip your head over, and then put your head under the scarf in the middle of it. The rest of the scarf should be hanging flat over your hair.
2. Tie the two ends at the back together at your forehead and double knot it. All of your hair should be in between the scarf and the tie.
3. Your scarf should be secured on your head without needing to hold it by now. Grab the two corners of the scarf at the front and double knot it at the nape of your neck. I let the scarf cover my ears so that it stays on better.
4. You should be done! When you flip back over, your scarf will look like a square pillowcase on your head. It ain't cute, but it works.

I have curled/ braided my hair and ruined it by applying the wrong product, so I would love a video on hair products. what/ why/ when to use them, order to use, best for fine hair versus thick, etc. Ex. The tip with oil I have never heard. I never knew how to fix that

In general, I’ve found some great gems from good beands, but much cheaper than products at Sephora from huge names. I had a goldwell shine spray I used for years!
As a natural wavy/curly girl my roots are straight! When my hair is short, its straight. If its medium length, its wavy. If its long, it will be curly. The straight roots with curly ends can be natural!

Could you talk about tips for sleeping on styled hair and how to get styles like curls to last multiple days? I have mostly straight hair and would love to not have to re-curl my hair on second/third day hair if I curl it on day one
I am a former hairstylist and here is my pro tip. Try Dutch braids instead of French braids. And pancake the braids. Make sure you fluff them even if you hear damp pull them apart a bit. I pull them apart quite a bit because I have fine hair. This will make it look less like that cramped I just braided my hair and give you better actual waves to work with as a base. Also more volume. I have thin fine hair and this trick does wonders for me! I do 2 Dutch braids, straight back (like you normally would instead of 4 going down the sides of your hair). And braid closer to your part so you dont have that straight top 2 inches. Your sister (sorry don't want to spell her name wrong) could do 3 or 4 braids straight back, kind of like thick chunky corn rows.
I watched a video by milabu. That's where I learned this trick. She might explain it better!

I actually shower in the morning, let my hair air dry for half an hour or so then braid it in 2Dutch braids and fluff then. Then I where my hair like that all day for work. Sleep in it. Then take it out the next morning.

Keep doing these types of videos. I have super long hair so I know I wont get anyone trying hair tutorials that also has a similar hair length and type to me. But I feel like most people I see trying it out have short hair, and/or are professionals which is why Anna Laura is awesome to have on these videos.
You sweet young ladies just put a permanent smile on my face. You mesh, blend, flow, and repeat so well. I have long hair for the first time in my life. Mommy Dearest wouldn’t allow it. So I started growing it at age 52... and did all kinds of beach wave things, a watched instructional and informative from videos like yours. I’d get a color putting three shades of blonde weave in with the mousey brown, and my first lightening strip of gray, every 8 months, as Im one the US of A’s, retired and broke people. I had her blunt cut the bottom instead of cutting the ends whispering and have the humidity year round, ruin my hair the minute I get out side. She had to take 3 inches off to offset the damaged hair. I’m now blunt cut, and pleased, oh so very much! I’m a big fan ladies, make me pretty, with your tutorials. I will be watching! I love both results but Kayley's looks fab on shorter hair! But when she said to brush it!! As a curly girl, I never brush my hair with a brush like that!! It's the perfect way to get frizz!

I've found that a 4-strand 3d braid (that I learned from Kayley's OG braid encyclopedia video) makes theeeeeee softest, prettiest waves with so much more body than a flat braid could ever accomplish
The best way I've found for avoiding flat pieces at the top is to do the French braid from the bottom up instead of from the part line down. So if you were just doing one French braid down the middle of your head, you would start at the nape of your neck and work to the front of your head. You look crazy while the braids are in, but you get waves that start really close to your scalp.

i have done the french braid curly method for years. but didn't know the trick about the curling afterwards and leaving the space on the wand. Kayley and Melissa you are so cute, love the sisterly love and comments. I like the new format with short hair and long hair. i have had long straight hair for most my life but recently started to cut it shoulder length once a year. you are definitely my hairtype goals. You can get it back. You just may have to grow and chop the super dead ends. But I think it usually takes like 3-4 months to start really seeing your natural curl pattern. Check out Ayesha Malik on yt or her IG Spisha Malik.
Hi, I've been watching a lot of your videos and I enjoy them. This would be my first comment. I have natural curly hair, but it took me sooooo much to find my curly method. I learned that natural curls curl only in one direction, this is interesting for finger coiling. So curling forward and backward is actually not more natural. Another thing is about the ends, I used to get my waves from braids a lot, and I would never use heat on the end. It is mostly effective if you dampen the ends, use a little styling cream and scrunch, then just let air dry. It works on straight hair too, because the idea is to break up naturally that crafty look at the end of the braid.
I would love to watch you ladies try more hair tutorials. I also liked how you went over the final checklist and how you would change it, etc. Personally, I have very thick, curly hair and would love to get your insight on the curly girl method. I used to do this all the time with my long hair ( I had close to 4 feet of it). I never used heat but it look mostly natural cause my hair is dark and I got really good at doing it. You can get the same results with out heat but it takes time, practice and experimentation with your own hair type. As long as you use good products then it will work. I also recommend the tips and tricks that these two made, as it makes a world or difference. Thanks and I love you both 💕💕💕

I have done finger waves too, it was very fun. Afterwards I had all this setting lotion left. I decided to incorporate it into some heatless curls as well as with heat.... omg, what a great find. My hair stays smooth, shiny, tons of hold, but soft. It is great, inexpensive... it just works. Dilute properly, spray it in while damp, then do whatever. Even if I let my hair air-dry it works well. Can always curl it or whatever you want later, you'll still get the hold. Plus this is great if you have no clue what you feel like doing with your hair that day because it is so versatile. My mom has very bleached hair that doesn't like to hold and this works well for her too, even for blowouts. I'm talking like days of hold. Not hours. Days. With one product. It's nuts.
Ive used this trick for years with my natural texture, and I talk about it a lot for my hair clients to give them that option!!

Natural wavy hair comes with straight roots. Curly hair is curly all the way around, but with braids you're getting wavy hair, not curly, so don't obsess over it since straight roots it's actually pretty natural and common! I have natural wavy hair that legit only curls from ears down with a super straight top sooooo

I highly recommend trying the CGM. The best thing to start it off would be to do a protein mask to encourage your natural texture to come out (I recommend Shea Moisture’s Manuka Honey and Yogurt Protein Power Treatment, turned my hair from 2C to 3A curls).
I wanna see more hair collabs. Makeup RUclipsrs do so many and I feel like it's much less frequent among hair RUclipsrs. You, Milabu, Harmonize Beauty, Chloe Morello, and Fit Mission Makeup are some of my favorites (for short hair gals like moi).

I have wavy hair and I've used this a lot when I need to wash my hair at night and want it looking great the next day without having to spend so much time doing the curly method stuff at night and then again in the morning. For the tips, what I usually do is on the last turn of the elastic, I pull in the hair leaving a little loop. It really helps it not look as straight!

I love this! I started the curly girl method a year ago, and it has definitely changed my hair. I had natural ringlets as a toddler which became slight waves as I got older, but I have curls again! Honestly though, I don't do the full CGM, mostly because I'm lazy. Sulfate free shampoo, silicone free conditioner and lots of scrunching the conditioner in and scrunching as I rinse it out, and as I microfiber towel dry it. Then I let it air dry while sleeping (just from a damp stage). Though I do really want to try the braids method and see what that does!
You guys exploring the curly girl method or something close to it to encourage natural texture would be awesome. You could totally explore transition hairstyles.

Yes pleeeease try out the Curly Girl Method, cause I've been on it for nearly two years now and I love seeing other people's results 😂 does take quite a commitment and the hardest bit was sticking to as little heat as possible, but the results were amazing and my hair feels and looks the best it's ever been!
I hate my natural hair and have been "curling" it for YEARS! My pro tip is just with your damp hair, just braid your crown braid, the one you did a few years ago, that starts in the back and you have to tip your hair forwards to start the braid. Bad description, but hope you get it 😅 it soo easy and makes the most natural and beautiful curls! Comfortable to sleep in and you get your whole hair, the top included! I did the two braids for years, but after seeing your crown braid, I've been using that everyday since ☺️ Don't need any products or heat!
I would love to see more heatless hairstyles! I am not a morning person so I love being able to do most of the work on my hair before bed (plus, heatless!). Maybe you could do something like a week of different heatless curls, and compare the results of each method? It took me ages to figure out which curl method worked best for me...

I've done this for years and people thought my hair was naturally curly. Dutch braiding gives you more defined texture at the roots than french and the waves are less kinky. I use a volumizing mousse.
Then I curl random strands and wear it out! It blends so effortlessly and doesn't all look perfect very natural.
For the second day I curl all the strands
Third day I just leave it.
Fourth day I do a waterfall braid and touch up as needed.
Mousse really holds the volume and style and braids keep the texture going! Great option when I know I need to look good all week for social stuff and have a good base to work with!

You should try 2 Dutch braids and make sure the ends are loose so they don’t look crimped at whacky. And then use this method to curl a few top pieces! This works soooo good!

I like to do braids before I go to bed, but something that has helped the curls look more natural is doing a zig-zag part before braiding. Once you put it in your natural part, it isn’t so uniform with the waves, making it look naturally curly. Doing that with French braids is a winner in my book.
Yes to the curly girl method. I have been doing it for two months now and my waves are getting better. It's more work than my old routine of just washing and brushing my hair but I have beach waves now instead of straight hair.
YES! Do the curly curl method, my hair is so much softer and better moisturised without silicones but pleeeease start with a clarifying shampoo.

I actually went old school with knee high panty hose. I twisted up my hair with them like old school rag curls and to prevent frizzing, I used one of the knee highs as a cap. One of the best styles Ive had.
I love this method. But my favourite overnight curls/waves are the ones with socks , it really works! I totally recommend it!
To help AL with the straightness at the top: I do French braids instead of regular braids. I actually do French Braid pigtails and sleep on it, then the next day will just take a 3/4 in sand to the front pieces and a few random pieces throughout to mix it up and it’s good to go. Like you I don’t do it on my normal part too because it helps with volume at the root - I’m a deep side parter so I do the part for the braids down the middle and it works out for me.
I sleep in 2 Dutch braids once or twice a week to get this lewk, without doing touchups, but I do use my clamp curling iron just to curl my ends in or out slightly to get rid of the straight braid-end bit. I use really big sections since I literally just put the bottom inch or two in the clamp for a few seconds, so it only takes like 30 seconds total
