ok, let's face it. Clubber Lang won the first fight because he deserved to. He put in the work and training necessary and Balboa just got caught slippin.
I agree that rocky was not in shape for the fight he did not take it seriously and didn't train properly But once mickey became unwell he was not in the right frame of mind the fight should of been stopped
If you listen really carefully when Rocky is down... Clubber says, "You made me wait 3 years to get to you"!!! Imagine how pissed of Clubber was during the fight... no wonder he beat Rocky's ass
Everybody thinks he is saying "Make me weak." I believe it's "You made me wait." He is focusing his anger on Rocky ducking him, something he was unable to do the second time.
Steroids wouldn't make that much of a difference. There's also no telling whether or not clubber was juicing. We know that Sly was juicing while shooting rocky 3.
I first got this movie when I was real young and I actually used to skip through this part because I didn't like seeing Rocky lose. Crazy how I just remembered how much of an impact this character had on my childhood.
Mr.T is f**cking huge in this film. People do not give him enough credit due to the caricature and out of shape he became later on. But in Rocky III, he is truly a fearsome man. Pause at 2:03; scary!
No fighters in the Rocky movies have defense they just swing away at eachother, dont get tired, never miss a punch and take over 200 punches a round and there still fine.
you know nobody can take that kind of punishmen, no matter how strong you are. But you still watch the movie and find it awesome ... because is Rocky and it's great. Hollywood license but whatever. I like it.
This was the first time I saw Mr T and he stuck in my mind as a bad guy for years. But the joke in this film was that he was widely known as a good guy so it was fun to cast him as the antagonist.
Rocky's start was good in the first round. However though Mickey wasn't at the side of the ring, & Rocky couldn't keep his mind on the fight with Clubber. Because Rocky was worried about Mickey. I don't know if Apollo knew that. I think he had the right idea, telling Paullie to go tell them the fight was off, telling Mickey not tonight I aint fighting. Rocky knew he wasn't going to be 100 percent out there. I guess you go out there & you just do your best.
Brett Soyars Everyone would have saw that Mick was not there (especially ringside). Every fighter knows how important it is to have your Head Trainer by your side for a big fight. If Mick was there for the two fights against Apollo, and was not present for his farewell bout after training him for it. I trust Apollo would be aware.
I love all the Rocky movies very inspirational. Rocky 1 is my favorite but i love this fight between Rocky & Clubber, back and forth boxing ;) "Come On Balboa"
It was in Rocky 2 I believe that one of the commentators said "He has no real boxing skills", which is Stallone's nod to the fact that he wasn't a professional boxer at the time. (But by Rocky 4 he was breaking the ribs of his former trainers...)
One important lesson of Rocky III is that success is not owned. Its merely rented and its due everyday. The reason why many of us do not become successful or stay successful for long is because we think of success as a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Where once you got it, all your troubles are over, and you will live a happy life all through out. It does not work that way. It takes hard work and sacrifice to achieve success but a lot more hardwork and sacrifice to keep it. In an instant, everything you worked so hard for will be gone. The best advice our parents gave us is this. That if we wanted to have a successful life, we should be ready to embrace a life filled with challenge.
Rocky had absolutely no chance here because he wasn't as hungry as Clubber Lang, and he didn't take the fight as seriously as he should have while he was training for it as you saw in the gym, and Mickey knew that. Also, Rocky had fear in his eyes and Clubber saw that. And finally, Rocky was too shaken up with his manager laying in the back suffering from a heart attack. He just wasn't comfortable without him in his corner. This whole formula spelled defeat for him.
There was also the fact that Mikey had quietly arranged some set-ups for Rocky during the height of his career. This shook him to the core and made him question his fighting abilities.
Apollo, 2 fights both go the distance. Drago, 1 fight goes the distance. Tommy Gun 1 fight, big Tom gets knocked the fuck out. Clubber the only man ever to destroy the Rock and he did it in 2 rounds. Made Rocky want to retire. frightened the fuck out of him. Clubber was the man......
Because Rocky didn't take his training seriously for the first fight. He was training amidst alot of distractions. No fighter can afford to get overconfident.
Pacing back and forth like a tiger. Hitting the walls and the locker. Intimidating journalists/ A scowl to make the bravest of men incontinent. Does anyone think Bill Cayton, Jim Jacobs and Mike Tyson saw Lang in this movie and replied: Ka-ching?
Rocky needed a new smarter game plan to beat this opponent, that's what separates Clubber from the rest. The other fighters, Rocky beat coming straight ahead, taking their best shots first, then coming back and beating them. Rocky in the last fight with Clubber came off first, let Clubber swing and miss, draining him of his strength. If Rocky would've let Clubber come off first, he wouldn't have lasted the first or second round, Rocky would've been tired and hurt.
Like rocky came out really strong. When he beat clubber he came out the same way. He also took clubbers best punches in both fights. The only difference between the two fights was in the second he was quicker after apollos training. Other than that speed he wouldve gotten destroyed again. Would love to see clubber v drago
@TheNinjacat10 I think you're right there. Remember Mickey told him in the dressing room, pre-fight, not to stand toe to toe with him as he'd (Clubber) never gone 15 rounds before. I think Mickey strantegy for this fight was a long haul method. To wear down Clubber until he'd out-punched himself to tiredness. But as Apollo and Tony said - he'd only last 7 or 8 rounds. Rocky was basically stuffed from the word go!lol!
Rocky allowed Clubber to get into his head. Rocky got pissed off and decided to be a brawler when he would have won if he decided to focus his energy at boxing. Which iswhy he lost.
You can tell they are using different sounds for the punches in this film. I think they just threw a cupboard down a flight of stairs and recorded the sound of breaking wood.
@dvharris75 I agree. Rocky did not prepare well for the fight. He was clowing around signing autographs and being kissed by women while Clubber was killing himself--alone--in his private training facility. And when Mickey had his heart attack just before the fight was the final nail in the coffin. The scene after the fight when Mickey died and Rocky cried over him was soooo sad.
I like apollo reacaction..ok..time to go to work...rocky act like he didnt know where he was..lol..but I like the scene where rocky hits the bag and apollo says.."thats not the way you do it"...
Of all of the opponents, Clubber Lang was the best. Apollo was very good and had the best skills but he couldn't put Rocky away, Rocky was way stronger and more determined than Creed. Ivan Drago was the strongest, most powerful but he's disqualified in my eyes because he was like an experiment, a freak, plus he was juicing. Lang was raw and powerful, Rocky couldn't beat him straight ahead like Creed and Drago, he had to resort to a "Sugar Ray" style, hitting and moving, letting your hands go.
Rocky lost because his heart wasn't in it. He had his mind on Mickey instead of the fight. If he had trained hard and had Mick in his corner, he would have won.
Actually Mick told him "wear him down,he hasn't been in 15 rounds before etc etc" and Rocky did the exact opposite! In fact, with Mick OK I think he might've even won...
Idk how I never thought of this until now, but how does the other guy with Paulie not try to coach Rock at all? I hate how he just doesn't say anything and let's Rocky get killed. The second fight is badass though, I only wish they'd have let it build up to 7 or 8 rounds or so because that's about how long Apollo thought Rocky could last, would've been cool to see him go closer to if not the distance with Clubber and then club him :) plus it would've made the 4th movie not as far-fetched.
because Apollo had an agenda. He never got over losing to Rocky and wanted another fight with him which we saw at the end. Apollo trained Rocky to win and in return he wanted that favor
MR T is is a rock solid 235 here. Just look at the size of his neck tarps and shoulders. Hes Big no doubt! They don't make heavyweight fighters (irl) like this anymore.
Yes he was. But he damn sure didn't show Apollo any respect, & says to him (Get out of my face, don't need no has been aint got no more. & you better get that look off your face before I knock it off! Want to jump? Jump! Come on Creed! Yeah just like a chicken you better run!) Literally insulted him.
@delboy723 I'd say Drago. Clubber is extremely tough but obviously predictable with how he uses only hooks. Drago has a height advantage and would be smart enough to analyze him instead of just rushing in like a bull, and most likely wear him down and eventually knock out Clubber. But who knows. That would be a very interesting fight.
ok, let's face it. Clubber Lang won the first fight because he deserved to. He put in the work and training necessary and Balboa just got caught slippin.
Moses Glasper LOL
I agree that rocky was not in shape for the fight he did not take it seriously and didn't train properly
But once mickey became unwell he was not in the right frame of mind the fight should of been stopped
0000000000000
Rocky never fought an opponent like clubbed before
Yeah slippin’
The music that plays when Clubber wins is terrifying
Sopposed to be that way as rocky was dazed and confused
3:25 lmao
I don't know what all the fuss is about, I love the sound of the punches.
Yeah me too I love the sound of the punches the 80s right here
first time i watched rocky 3 i was a kid and the panic in rocky's voice after the 1st round made me wanna cry.
it used to make me laugh, I loved seeing Mr. T beat the breaks off him, still brings a smile to my face.
I love rocky 3 is a great movie
And Apollo looks like he just found out there's no Santa Claus.
My personal favorite Rocky movie. Mr T was great in this role...his character was a perfect combination of Ali's mouth and Tyson's power.
Absolutely
If you listen really carefully when Rocky is down... Clubber says, "You made me wait 3 years to get to you"!!! Imagine how pissed of Clubber was during the fight... no wonder he beat Rocky's ass
Everybody thinks he is saying "Make me weak." I believe it's "You made me wait." He is focusing his anger on Rocky ducking him, something he was unable to do the second time.
If Drago wasn't on the juice I would agree Lang would destroy him.
LOL! "COME ON BALBOA! YOU MADE ME WAIT!" LOL!
It's like Rhonda Rousey when she faced her first real competition.
yes, im sure we all were thinking this...
Mr.T is f**cking huge in this film. People do not give him enough credit due to the caricature and out of shape he became later on. But in Rocky III, he is truly a fearsome man. Pause at 2:03; scary!
Rocky: "Did you... take the number? Take the number... take the... number..."
i love the way Clubber Lang just use hooks, uppercuts and Crosses...I didn't see even one jab during the whole fight!I wish boxing fights be like that
Mr. T vs Drago would be a great fight to watch!
No fighters in the Rocky movies have defense they just swing away at eachother, dont get tired, never miss a punch and take over 200 punches a round and there still fine.
Was that hesitation a mix of disbelief, disappointment and pity I saw in Clubbers face right before he landed the final punch?
you know nobody can take that kind of punishmen, no matter how strong you are. But you still watch the movie and find it awesome ... because is Rocky and it's great. Hollywood license but whatever. I like it.
This was the first time I saw Mr T and he stuck in my mind as a bad guy for years. But the joke in this film was that he was widely known as a good guy so it was fun to cast him as the antagonist.

i told ya! i told ya id do it! Im the new champion of world! eewhhh eewwwhh!
Bee Kay LMAO bad guy flex
Only time in the series where you actually see Rocky get KOed.
I love all the Rocky movies very inspirational. Rocky 1 is my favorite but i love this fight between Rocky & Clubber, back and forth boxing ;) "Come On Balboa"
I love how each fighter needs is their manager to say something and they suddenly kick ass once again
"Imma smoke him Imma smoke him imma smoke him" Clubber wasnt gonna be denied that night
I pity the 20 dislikers of this match
Possibly the best response in the history of RUclips...If Rocky had WON, well, um, END of movie!!
2:34 That noise Rocky makes reminds me of a video game characters death cry before the game over jingle
Rocky is the example of my life in this fight. I'm RIP!
that scream at 2:33 is one of the most anime things in a non anime movie or show.
It was in Rocky 2 I believe that one of the commentators said "He has no real boxing skills", which is Stallone's nod to the fact that he wasn't a professional boxer at the time. (But by Rocky 4 he was breaking the ribs of his former trainers...)
Mr.T as Clubber is my fave Rocky character.
Did. You know Ernie savers was going to play clubber Lang
@@blaststormrampage9206 thank God he didn't, Stallone probably wouldn't be here if he accidentally got hit by Shavers
"He's he...he's too big...he's too strong!" LoL poor Rocky hahah
Paulie: Don't talk like that, Rocko. Come on!
@@alster724yeah rocko
I never understood why Rocky's punches had no effect....
One important lesson of Rocky III is that success is not owned. Its merely rented and its due everyday.
The reason why many of us do not become successful or stay successful for long is because we think of success as a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Mr T was actually one cut dude back then.
Rocky had absolutely no chance here because he wasn't as hungry as Clubber Lang, and he didn't take the fight as seriously as he should have while he was training for it as you saw in the gym, and Mickey knew that. Clubber's troll face at 3:26 FTW
I love how absolutely no one guards their face in the Rocky Movies.
I like the creepy background music, as rockyy is being counted out, like his world crumbling around him.
Clubber was the man......
respect Clubber lang
@WayLander.... Rocky was already thinking about retiring before this match. He had mentioned retiring when he was given the statue.
Lol! It makes Hagler/Hearns seem like a supreme technical match. Gotta love fighting in movies!
Apollo is like "this is not the way he fought me"
Jesus , i know its a film and everything but no man could take this lmfao xD , love Rocky films though :D
Until his next fight with Clubber Lang, this was actually the best Round 1 of his career that we see in the films where he landed the first punch!
Omg such realism! It almost looks like a real fight
i guess rocky is still using the "i must block his fist with my face" technique
Apollo had that look "i can't believe this"
In this fight Clubber had the eye of the tiger look in his eyes
3:25 that's just the best world title celebration ever
chincherrinas lmao
Damn Mr T was in good shape back then. Perfect for this role! Such a tough intimidating character.
Rocky movies’ philosophy: why even have any defense when you already have a superb offense?
Because Rocky didn't take his training seriously for the first fight. He was training amidst alot of distractions. No fighter can afford to get overconfident.
Pacing back and forth like a tiger. Hitting the walls and the locker. Intimidating journalists/ A scowl to make the bravest of men incontinent.

That was a beautiful choreography.
Boxing and boxing movies are not the same anymore lol I wish it still was though
Clubber Lang's downfall is that he's always trying to take his opponents out with one punch.
@TheNinjacat10 I think you're right there. Remember Mickey told him in the dressing room, pre-fight, not to stand toe to toe with him as he'd (Clubber) never gone 15 rounds before. It's incredible how B.A. Baraccus managed to have a boxing career while on the run from the law.
Favourite rocky movie right here
Clubber Lang was brutal lol "Come on Balboa"
You had to like Clubber's personality. He kind of reminds me of Tyson
Yes he was.
If rocky wanted this like rocky 2 with this skill he would destroy clubbed
Beautiful loss right here.
Yeah well I don't think Rocky felt that way. It was beautiful when Clubber lost.
I like apollo reacaction..ok..time to go to work...rocky act like he didnt know where he was..lol..but I like the scene where rocky hits the bag and apollo says.."thats not the way you do it"...
Paulie wasn't a trainer. He was just Adrianne's brother and Rocky's friend.
those boxing gloves make Rocky's hands look so big.
He wasn't hungry! The worst thing happened to him. He became civilized!
very realistic made. One could almost think its a real fight because the sound effects are spot on
Real men love Rocky.O.k. it´s not boxing at all ,but real men love Rocky. And Mr.T.
Rocky lost because his heart wasn't in it. He had his mind on Mickey instead of the fight. If he had trained hard and had Mick in his corner, he would have won.
Clubber Lang: ‘Hey boy, hey boy, am I the only 1 going to say shi!t otta my gob, or you going to say anything????”.
Drago: ‘You will Looze’!.
Actually Mick told him "wear him down,he hasn't been in 15 rounds before etc etc" and Rocky did the exact opposite! In fact, with Mick OK I think he might've even won...
Clubber won! Plain & simple, If only Mickey hadn't gotten injured Rocky's concentration wouldn't have gotten jolted.
I just realized the entire ring is dedicated to Rocky lol
I'd watch *real* boxing if it was like this. Absolutely awesome. I have all the Rocky movies on DVD, but I only watch III and IV :]
clubber is upset about the rocky hype, so he steps in the ring to silence it.
Clubber Lang came into that ring ready for war.
Rocky would have lost no matter what. Clubber Lang was hungry.
AWESOME
3:18. This was how I felt the day my daughter was born.
dang, clubber lang blows seemed like they were ripping him apart
because Apollo had an agenda. He never got over losing to Rocky and wanted another fight with him which we saw at the end. Apollo trained Rocky to win and in return he wanted that favor
Clubber Lang on Foreman
Tyson was the World Champion in 1986.
Rocky III was on the cinemas in 1982.
he beat the BREAKS off his ass lmao
"DEFENSE"!!!! lol
MR T is is a rock solid 235 here. Just look at the size of his neck tarps and shoulders. Hes Big no doubt! They don't make heavyweight fighters (irl) like this anymore.
I think 'he ain't anything' is better than 'he ain't nothing'.
Clubber Lang was a lot tougher than Apollo Creed!!
Yes he was. But he damn sure didn't show Apollo any respect, & says to him (Get out of my face, don't need no has been aint got no more. & you better get that look off your face before I knock it off! Want to jump? Jump! Come on Creed! Yeah just like a chicken you better run!)
Literally insulted him.
I'm a smoke him, I'm a smoke him!
Dolph Lundgren and Mr. T are the beasts in rocky series. i admire both of them although i think that mr t could outbench lundgren for a little
Clubbers punches = quick and powerfull
cool video
@BadBoyKendrie What does Clubbers boxing trainer say at :46 ???? Sounds like "double up double up"
@delboy723 I'd say Drago. Clubber is extremely tough but obviously predictable with how he uses only hooks. Drago has a height advantage and would be smart enough to analyze him instead of just rushing in like a bull, and most likely wear him down and eventually knock out Clubber. But who knows. That would be a very interesting fight.
