Bro I got a question. I'm an Aces High 3 pilot. Why wouldn't you climb when he was flaps down lower and slower than you. Going to a vertical when he was inverted taking shots at you. I Think you probably had the power to climb better than him making him stall. I do that with the war birds and must of the time end up with them at the 12 after they stall.
For many years, crazy old white-haired dudes took young cocky aviators and their RIOs to school, using "inferior" planes flown from Fallon NAS.

'Snort' Snodgrass took on 3 F-5E Tigers in a 1v3 in 1984 with his F-14A Tomcat. He "gunned" each of them down. More than it speaking to Tomcat's ability, it was how insanely talented 'Snort' was/is.

The F-5 just looks like a deadly warplane. Small but with sharp features, I love it so! I wish it had more success at home than it did, but it is one sweet-looking aircraft.
The F-5 is such a pretty fighter. The fact that is can present a decent challenge to vastly more advanced fighters in a fight says something about how well designed Northrop made this bird. Glad to see you back as well!
I heard the US is upgrading their training F-5 fleet. It's going to have upgraded engines and avionics to keep up with the gen4+ fighters
It surprised me to see four F-5Es at the Spirit of St Louis airport a few weeks ago. I thought the Navy retired them all for the aggressor role, but not so much.

That's funny because the F5 was the plane chosen for a presentation of the dogfight superiority of the f14 at le Bourget air show in 1974. Of course the f14 won

This is the most exciting fight I've seen in DCS so far, granted I haven't seen that much nor have i seen all your videos, but from the limited amount I have seen so far, this one was intense and very exciting to watch.

There's an epic animated show called Area 88, set in the 80's in the fictional middle eastern country of Aslan, it follows a pilot in the foreign legion during a civil war, he has an F8 Crusader but upgrades to the Tiger II. Some awesome battles and a ton of cold war era fighters.
No intro with pros and cons and some history? I know it is still hard to get reliable info on the MiG-28 😎

Love your stuff GS! I wish I could get my friends to play DCS. They just loose interest as soon as I explain the control setup. These guys have been playing combat (and non-combat) flight sims for 30 years, but just don't want to learn the key-bindings. I SO WISH ED would just spend the time to create a keybinding wizard or something similar for their high-fidelity planes. Anyway, keep up the awesome content! I will live the game through your videos.

When I dog fight my friends of course just fox2s against the tomcat I beat them every time in the F-5 I need someone else to dog fight lmao
The F-14 is notoriously difficult to fly. It just fights you the entire time. It's a hell of a lot easier to tell if a pilot is good in the F-14 than the F-18.

The F-5 is an historical great Aircraft, but the F-20 also made by Northrop is a very big improvement of the same aircraft. One that should be capable of taking down the F-14.

Greetings, I love your videos. I'm a flight simulator fan myself but I don't play dcs just yet due to not having a good computer to play it. I love the f14 tomcats myself. I just wondering if you can do a air to air flight with a different kind of aircraft, the mig-31 "Firefox". I know is not a real aircraft but might be cool to see how it would fight with today's aircraft. Keep up the good work on the videos. "Tomcat forever baby"

So as many of my fellow commenters know, the F5 was the plane they used as the ‘MiG-28’ in Top Gun, so this is Top Gun.
Could you do review videos of the planes? I don't know if you already have done it, but if not, it would be great
I've always had an issue with spotting in DCS. Most of the time, RUclips makes it even worse, yet in your videos the opponent stands out like a bold dot. I can see that you are using reshade or Nvidia filter with some sharpening/contrast tweaks. Is there any chance that you could do a video on your settings?
Well the videos are compressed by youtube and so they lose quality. Also GS use a 4k 55inch nano cell tv monitor so its much easier for him. He settings are all on max and he used the colourfullness option of the ReShade mod.
Question regarding the use of full flaps on the F14. I have tried it a couple of times but I don't find that its gives any particular advantages? It especially doesn't out way the disadvantages it causes such as making energy recovery harder and I find that the roll oscillations seem to increase once deployed. On here both you and Longshot seem to use it quite a lot, am I missing something? I tend to find that keeping the energy management between 400 and 250 knots works a treat for me and I can keep on top of the majority of aircraft, is the issue that I am staying too fast/slow? Or is it more a personal preference? Any help would be greatly received. Great to see you back, especially with an F5 vs F14 vid.
