    Before arrive to UK I used to hear stereotypes such "English people are running all the time from home to work, that's because they are really hard workers".
    Another consecutive thing I used to hear is that they are really cold people and they do not show emotions to their partners.
    I come from a small village in France and since I arrived to the UK I can say British people are polite and quite warm!! And their education system helps a lot to people who wants to improve in life. I think that's why British people start business.

    As someone who travels a lot. The class system thing is true, though, a lot of countries also act similarly but they attribute more geographic angles to it. City people versus rural versus town. State versus state. Its all based in a classist idea that two groups are different in certain ways. We do have a weird sensationalist view of it though if you consider the types of TV we digest (downton abbey, benefits street, shameless, everything royal family related and the royal family itself)

    • @BackFromTheMadeUp
      @BackFromTheMadeUp 6 лет назад

      Yeah, nah, that's completely different Thomas. You are what your parents were in a class based system. It's pretty bloody awful.

    • @thomasandrewclifford
      @thomasandrewclifford 6 лет назад

      Im trying to work out what this reply even means. My point is that there is a different angle to classism internationally and you're saying im wrong because its based you're parents class? We're talking about different things brother.

    • @BackFromTheMadeUp
      @BackFromTheMadeUp 6 лет назад

      Hey Thomas - I am from a new world country too - albeit one with much stronger roots to the 'motherland', not to mention having worked closely with many English for many years, having an English mum, and having been there a lot. My point is that I think the kind of classist prejudice you are talking about is quite different to the actual class based history of the UK, and much of Europe. There are similarities for sure, but at the end of the day, historically the upper class were considered simply superior humans to the working class and some remnants of that remains. The way people talk about immigrants or people of colour today - that is quite literally what was thought of the working class until very recently. (I exaggerate there a bit Thomas, but the principal is true enough(

On the pub one I was a bit "not entirely accurate" but then it got to "you have your own table" and I remembered in my last local there was a stool at the bar that, if I came in, I would always sit at and if someone else was sat in it, they would generally move within half an hour to let me sit down.

    here are some stereotypes I've formed about British people while living in ksa
    1. they expect everyone to understand them: when speaking with Arabs or any other foreigner, they will continue speaking multiple sentences on end even when the other person isn't responding.
    2. they have bad teeth: I have interacted with many Europeans
    in saudi but every single British person I've ever met irl has very yellow teeth for some reason
    3. they are goal oriented: which I understand tbh. they come to saudi to earn money but don't want to live here for too long bcs other than being overpaid to teach basic things like grade 4 English or social studies there isn't much here for them to do (like getting drunk at a pub) so they focus on their work and go back home after earning a good amount. now if Saudi Arabia was their colony maybe they'd spend 100 years of their lives here teaching people how to be woke like them by being able to read year 4 English textbooks
    4. they are usually funny: except the British version of the office. that one just sucks sorry

      The British have better dental hygeine however we don't glorify straight bleached teeth like in America so dental surgery is only done for medical reasons. Our teeth statistically are better due to less-corrosive diets (corn syrup isnt used here), we put flourine in the drinking water and we have NHS dental checkups for children and adults. What we don't have is a cultural obsession with the appearance of teeth beyond good dental hygeine so we don't have them artificially whitened, straightened (unless actually needed) or filed.

    I know you do it to be polite and cheeky sense you dont like stewing in angst, but you need to understand why us Americans can misconstrue it as you being a rude and disrespectful, especially when we mistake your insults for compliments.

    where is your obsession with a cuppa? that should rank, Americans drink tea and being from a Family with a British background my older relatives had to have a cup of tea daily--but Americans prefer coffee so this tea obsession is slightly perplexing, LOL

    • @maryavatar
      @maryavatar 6 лет назад +1

      omfug nope, sorry. Not true. Maybe in the long distant past, but coffee overtook tea as the UK’s favourite hot drink a long time ago. The U.K. has something like five speciality coffee shops for every specialty tea shop. Europe’s most popular chain coffee shop is British-based Costa Coffee, which has more franchises in The EU than Starbucks. Like warm beer and shillings, the British tea drinker stereotype is history.

    • @chrisneville4338
      @chrisneville4338 6 лет назад

      It is our national drink, true however not everyone in the UK is obsessed with tea. According to the UK Tea and Infusions Association, Britons drink 95 million more cups of char every day than they do coffee, but sadly (according to numerous sources) the popularity of tea (in general terms) is said to be declining and coffee shops, coffee houses (or whatever you wanna call em') are now commonplace on our high streets and in our town centres. Although flavoured teas are said to be popular amongst the "millenials".
      By 2016 Britons were said to be drinking (on average) twice as much coffee as tea (well that's what some studies claim to have found). Although this can be disputed.
      And by April 2018, Britons (on average) were said to be drinking 95 million cups of coffee a day (according to some sources). Although according to the UK Tea and Infusions Association (and some other sources) coffee consumption is currently estimated to be about 70 million cups a day.
      In other words our obsession with tea is waning (although some sources state we drink more coffee than we do tea nowadays).
      Plus coffee is now the preferred choice of drink for some people (with Lattes being one of the most popular).
      Although I must say, I prefer tea over coffee (but that's my choice).

      Race is just a social construct, my dad is biracial and from Jamaica but he doesn`t have dread locks and didn`t live in poverty like the kind Bob Marley used to sing about.

    These are the ones I believe are true (my opinion)
    4: yep
    3: ahhh mate I’m not old enough but yep
    2: yes, if your not a chav like 45% of people in Britain lmao
    1: hmmm kind of but I guess you can also guess how posh people are by where they shop lol. I’m gonna do a rating of how posh I r if you shop at these places.
    Waitrose: 10/10
    M&S: 8.5/10
    Lidl:6/10
    Aldi:5.5/10
    Asda: 5.5/10
    Sainsbury’s: 5/10
    Tesco: 4.5/10
    Co-op: 3/10
    Mcolls: 3/10
    Poundland: 100000/10 😂
    Also, you missed the obsession with soaps. Where’s good old Corrie, Eastenders and Emmerdale huh?! 😂 if your not British you probably won’t understand but god, Britain is an interesting place 🤔 😂
    (These are just my opinions) xx
