Hi Peter - another very useful and practical approach to a complex subject .your series of videos is fast becoming my favourite source of advice and information. keep them coming please !!
Hi Peter, Thanks for another great video :-) When doing focus stacking/bracketing, the camera automatically takes the correct number of images with a single shutter press. However when using Exposure Bracketing it doesn't do that. I need to either press the shutter button multiple times (as you showed, using the BKT icon colour), or I need to manually set the drive mode to H or L first. If I set it to H or L, then I can hold down the shutter button and it will take only the correct number of images. Do you know of a way to have drive mode H or L "automatically" selected when selecting Exposure Bracketing? Thanks!
The amount of images camera takes when bracketing is a bit confusing. The best way is to look at the BKT sign in the top of the EVF or LCD. In some bracketing features it will just go on if you have the camera on either H or L.
Something usefull to know is you have to set your camera to sequence mode to make this work in succession its weird coming from Panasonic where it is apparently automatic... I get there are more options this way, but was confused as to why i had to press the shutter button for each exposure ymmv...
The WB bracketing options seem (to me) to be of no use if you are working in RAW. What I'd really like is to bracket using different f/ apertures to see which will keep the subject in good focus and the background completely drop off.
Came here to see how to set my EM10 Mark ii to use AEB. The applicable section of the video is clear and I've mirrored the setup but don't seem to get more than one take for each shutter button press. Thought I might need to set Multiple Exposure to ON, tried that also and no change. Any idea what I'm missing?
I would like Olympus to add a single-image HDR mode based on ISO bracketing. I never thought about ISO bracketing before I watched this video, thanks Peter, I will definitely experiment with it!
So I used ISO bracketing and find I really like it. I also found that you can do AE bracketing in combination with ISO bracketing. If you use 3 AE bracket images, it gives you 9 raw files. But I think in terms of EV you cover in fact only 5 values, if both bracketing modes are set to 1 stop increments. There maybe a combination of AE and ISO EV increment settings that actually gives you 9 different EV values, I’d have to think about that. Oh, and all of these are RAW files.

@@ForsgardPeter Thanks Peter - Only just started using bracketing ( not stacking ) and found it strange that I very rarely got the number of photos that I set it for. for example I would set it for 20 shots and a FD of 4 and only get 17 photos. A lot of asking questions on various forums and I found this Statement which explains the discrepancy. If, during the sequence, focus reaches infinity, no further exposures will be executed/added. I am a little surprised that that info is not documented by Olympus.
Hi Peter, I did quite a lot HDR-Imaging using AE Bracketing with my Nikon D700. Now that I also have an Olympus with ISO-Bracketing option, I was very interested using this for situations when there is no time or moving objects. Unfortunately when i use ORF Files with Photomatrix Pro the results are pretty bad (even under good conditions). Does it lack so much of information and simply can´t be better or do i something wrong ? Any advice ?
what I would really know. Is how you quickly turn off bracketing. I switch a lot between having it on and off, and on my Canon, it's just there, right on my back screen,. On my olympus, I need to enter the menu and find the submenu, and then a couple of steps in, it's there. It's a major hassle.
White balance bracketing. Well. that must take a lot of brainpower to work out how to set the bracketing numbers for each colour channel. To me the easiest method of making sure you have the correct colours in the capture is to use an X-Rite ColorChecker. So simple to use and set up and you can even set up your printer to output the correct colors although I have never gone to the extreme of the printer as I send those captures to the print company.
Hi, maybe I am blind but I have a problem. I follow your suggestions on my Pen-F to make focus braketing. I have set 20 photos with number 5 for distance lenght. I save the settings and in the menu I see indeed that BKT is active. I have latest Oly fimware 3.1 for my Pen-F and I use a Zuiko 12-40 ED F/2,8 Pro. When I fire the images I get only couple of images taken automatically. How come???
Hi Peter, thanks for the video. Have a question: Olympus Workspace has a tool for composing multiple images for focus stacking. When trying to compose multiple photos it replies that only some Olympus lens support this feature. Do you know which lens support this? Was not able to find any reference on this.
Greetings from San Antonio, Texas. I thank you very much for your instructional videos. I am a professional photographer but new to micro 4/3. Regarding ISO bracketing, I would think you would not want to use with a moving subject as the ISO changes occur after the image has been taken, therefore the shutter speed to capture the image will not be affected. ISO bracketing is very useful when using flash in a studio scenario as it can vary the brightness of the image without having to change or modify the flash or strobe power regardless of the flash brand or studio light. I do not know but would assume that flash bracketing would require an Olympus flash system but again, do not know if this is the case. Thank you again for your videos.
You say you're going to cover everything in detail then brush over Art Filters simply because you don't like them yourself!? 🤷 I'm wondering how, when bracketing Partial Colour (e.g. Art #14) alongside 'say' Monotone', 'Vivid', and 'Diorama II', do I then call up the colour dial to select the colour I wish to highlight in the the photo being taken?
It's sad, but not all Olympus cameras have bracketing. My e-m10 mark III have only exposure and focus bracketing. And in special mode only. Focus bracketing is only 8 shots. This camera is like bad version of e-m10 mark II. Electronic shutter only in automatic mode. And time lapse also this electronic. I'm a bit disappointed, maybe I should by previous version. But in Israel is was more expensive. Anyway mark III can make great shots, but it's not so powerful like mark II.
@@ForsgardPeter maybe they understood that they gave to much to mark II. To much for entry level. Let's see it in evolution of this serie. I'm sure you are testing mark IV already. But I think in future I will buy e-m5 mark III or e-m1 mark II. I really liked stabilization of Olympus.

Hi Peter, Does the camera have to be in manual mode for focus bracketing?
No, other shooting modes can be also used.
Hard to say about Photomatrix. It might not convert ORF-files properly.
The only one I use is focus and I use it a lot, especially for macro work.
It is great for macro. Do you stack images in camera or in post?
On my em-1 mkiii when using focus bracketing I cannot select raw only. I always get raw+jpeg, I think that should be my choice not the cameras.
@@ForsgardPeter In post with Picolay and Affinity Photo.
@@brianlaunchbury4491 Don’t bracket, use st ack.
Have not heard of Picolay before. I need to check that out. Thanks.
what I would really know. Is how you quickly turn off bracketing. I switch a lot between having it on and off, and on my Canon, it's just there, right on my back screen,. On my olympus, I need to enter the menu and find the submenu, and then a couple of steps in, it's there. It's a major hassle.
Which body you have. I did not use bracketing that much, but if I remember correctly it is possible to assign to a function button in some bodies.
Very true. The settings are a bit trial and error with the WB Bracketing. Have you ever used it?
No because the X_rite is far easier and faster.
How come???
Has the image enough dof? It happens if you shot too many images.
Hi Peter, thanks for the video.
Have a question: Olympus Workspace has a tool for composing multiple images for focus stacking. When trying to compose multiple photos it replies that only some Olympus lens support this feature. Do you know which lens support this? Was not able to find any reference on this.
Here is a list lenses from Olympus Japan website. cs.olympus-imaging.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/qa/products/em1m2/#08
@@ForsgardPeter Great!!
Exactly what I was looking for
Is focus bkt works wildlife ?
Yes it does if the subject is not moving.
I'm wondering how, when bracketing Partial Colour (e.g. Art #14) alongside 'say' Monotone', 'Vivid', and 'Diorama II', do I then call up the colour dial to select the colour I wish to highlight in the the photo being taken?
Yes, I do not really fancy them. Yes, partial color works that way.
That is true. I do not understand why Olympus did that.
Hello sir can you help me places
Focus bracketing results in raw images. Why would anyone waste time with a jpeg?
