    Ha haaa! At last, someone has at last explained initial focusing points for stacking AND bracketing! Thank you! Extremely useful tutorial 👏👏👏👍

    David, this is excellent. It’s all we need, and easily accessible. It’s brilliant. Thank you. Would you please create a series of these “bite sized tutorials” for each of the Computational Modes, and possibly more? I’m especially interested in information on the Digital Teleconverter, as it sometimes seems to be a “hit or miss” proposition with RAW+SF JPEG.

    Great tutorial! Any chance you can provide a comprehensive beginners guide for video settings on the OM-1 MKii ?

    I know you said to "practice, practice, practice", but it would help me to get a better idea of how the focus differential really works. Is it a fixed distance between shots or relative to the aperture (i.e. closer together for wider apertures with shallower DOF)? Thanks for a very helpful video.

      Hi - The focus differential is the spacing between focus points when using stacking or focus bracketing. A wide diff means a greater distance between each focused point. Fine if the depth of field covers the area between the points. If not, a narrower diff will be needed. The diff spacing choice will vary depending on a combination of Lens focal length, Aperture choice and distance to subject. :) - David

      @@OMSYSTEMCameras is there a chart or other visual reference to show just what that means? IE. if I'm 10cm from the subject each number on the differential is "N" many mm.

    A very useful presentation of the differens between the two modes. Thank You.
    I have noticed a very strange behaviour when using Godox flashes with a remote trigger. In focus stacking, regardless of the setting of number of shots the OM-1 will only take a maximum of 13 shots and then abort. No issues with the same setup on OM-1 Mark III. I have tried with different Godox flashes and triggers with the same result.
    Even with the FC/FR--WR and an Olympus FL-900R the number of shots are reduced when using higher output levels level like 1/16 or 1/8..

      Hi Serena - Unfortunately we cannot comment on the functionality of other brands flash however reaching out to Godox may be a good idea on this matter.
      When using the FL900 it may be that the recycle requires better batteries than are being used currently - I use this combination and dont usually have any concerns :) - David

    Probably a silly question but when focus stacking or bracketing on the OM1, do you set it in manual focus or does it automatically go into auto focus? Cheers

    • @OMSYSTEMCameras
      @OMSYSTEMCameras  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Morgan - You can choose to use either Auto Focus or Manual to instruct the camera where to find the first focus point in the subject - From that point onwards that camera will automatically change the focus to where it needs to be. If you are using a lens with a manual focus clutch, it must not be in the manual position for focus stacking or bracketing, rather use MF from the camera body if thats your choice of Focusing method. - David :)

    The only part where I get a bit confused and it wont be hard to find out for myself with a bit of testing. But when you start a bracketing shot. You said start from the closest you want in focus. This means the closest detail to the camera?
    Does this also mean I should position my camera so that the focus is in the center, or maxed out to the left or right?

    • @OMSYSTEMCameras
      @OMSYSTEMCameras  4 месяца назад +1

      When focus bracketing you should place the initial focus area on the closest part of your subject to you. Then the camera will take images from there towards infinity until it uses all of the prescribed shots. With regards to the left and right placement, it will depend on where you subject is in the frame :) - David

    I am planning to use a OM-1 Mark ii with the 150-600 on a Gitzo GTS2530 mountaineer tripod with a KF 3 axis head to shoot a 27 storey building for façade inspection from ground level in some areas that I cannot use a drone to accomplish. I wanted a little more information. 1. can i use that lens with focus stacking in camera, it sounds like that is a no but thought I would ask as that this is not typically done with super zoom lenses. 2. if I need to use the focus bracketing how do I determine how much the focus is changing with the different setting in that menu? I will be at about 400-500 in the zoom range and probably 350-450 feet away from the subject. According to Photo Pills this would give me a DOF of about 15 feet or so from the focal plane and FOV about the same. Can you suggest setting for this?

    What is the focus differential? When would you use narrow vs v wide?

    Hola , por favor, que modo de enfoque me recomiendas para carreras de atletismo , no de velocidad, es medio fondo.
    Que af c? Con seguimiento humanos? Que area de enfoque?
    En resumen , que configuracion de la om1 mark ii me recomiendas. He visto que si selecciono el af c + tracking no me deja seleccionar todos los puntos de enfoque" all".
    Gracias

    Thank you. But I have a question: when Focus Stanking OM-1 focuses first "40 -50% into the dept of our chosen subject" and then "taking images closer and further away". How many and how many frames? For 4, 5, 6...........13, 14 15 frames? thx

    • @OMSYSTEMCameras
      @OMSYSTEMCameras  4 месяца назад

      It will vary depending on the number of shots chosen but for the full 15 stack you will see 3 shots in front (Towards you) and the rest towards infinity (After the initial shot location) :) - David

    Hi.
    This is the second video I've watched on this subject.
    Anyway, my photo stacking menu option is greyed out & can't be selected. I've followed all steps but haven't heard mention of this in any videos I've watched. Sorry for lengthy comment.

      Hi and thanks for asking! There are a number of possible reasons why Focus Stacking is not available. If you are using a lens with a Manual Focus Clutch and its set back in the MF position, focus stacking is not available. To use MF with Focus Stacking you should only choose it from the super control panel. It could be that the lens is not compatible. Check here for compatible lenses. learnandsupport.getolympus.com/node/1732 (Note that the 90mm is not in this list currently but is suitable). Another reason could be that some other computational mode is active and preventing stacking from working. I hope this helps! - David :)

    I am considering buying the OM-5 due to focus bracketing with flash? So the fastest SS can only be 1/50sec? Isnt that slow for macro photography?

    • @OMSYSTEMCameras
      @OMSYSTEMCameras  Месяц назад

      Hi Mario - The shutter speed restrictions are for Electronic shutter modes only, this does include Focus Stacking and Bracketing. The OM-1 doubles this to 1/100. You should take this into consideration when choosing your subject and mode. There are no restrictions on shutter speed when using natural or LED lights. - David :)

      @@OMSYSTEMCameras Thanks. So Focus Bracketing can only be done with ES? I hope I can take macro photos using Focus Bracketing with Flash, as that is the only reason I have just ordered an OM-5 to upgrade from my, as new, Lumix GX9 which cant use flash with Focus Bracketing.

    Just tried this, but it states that my M.Zuiko ED90mm F3.5 PRO Macro is not compatible, using the OM1 Mk2, what am I missing?

    • @OMSYSTEMCameras
      @OMSYSTEMCameras  Месяц назад +1

      Hi - It could be that you have the Manual focus clutch pulled back into the MF position. In this case, push it forwards and if you need Manual focus, select from the camera body instead as the clutch overrides everything. - David :)
