Just tried.. It's mind blowing.. Everyone lived the smell of the mixture while it simmered for 20 minutes and while it cooked slowly in the oven.. I am happy I cracked it.. Thanks guys you nailed it for me.. Merry Christmas
Had written it down when the link was working, here are the Ingredients: 250g sultanas 250g pitted dates 200g pitted prunes 3 tbsp mixed peel 3 tbsp cocoa powder 1 tbsp mixed spice 50g stem ginger, chopped 2 oranges 175g salted butter 175g light brown sugar 150ml honey 150ml spiced rum 150g self-raising flour 100g ground almonds 3 eggs 50g glace cherries
Are you guys kidding?!?! I planned my Christmas meal last weekend, saw you guys had no Christmas cake recipe and made stollen instead. Now you have a Christmas cake recipe, I have a stollen and nothing is trad'l anymore. Bugger!! ah well. hope you boys have a fab Christmas anyway! :P
We always soak our fruit in strong tea and a bit of brandy, apparently it's very nice that way. I personally can't stand Christmas cake so I wouldn't know but I enjoy making one every year and I'm told it's nice so maybe people wanna give that a go :)
Can one omit the mixed Peel and Orange either altogether or replaced by a non-Citrus alternative? Also can one use something like Domaine de Canton in place of the Spiced Rum?
Can I please still douse it in alcohol afterwards? My step-grandmother (in her mid 80's) makes us a Xmas cake in October and brushes it with alcohol everyday! It's 90% booze by the time it gets to us (this is a boast, not a complaint)
this spring of mint needs to be locked in its bedroom keeps running away with the thyme and basil like it has no responsibilities. Get back to your job Mint...This is your last warning unless you are getting fired!!!

I always look on your faces guys when you are saying Sorted! Mike is like: "I don't know how we did it, but try it too!" (whatever it is) and Ben is always like: "It wasn't so hard you idiot."
Dear Friends, I enjoy watching them through your channel. I really like this cake: I'm a true devotee. I don't understood, why do you need bake for 2 hours? I follow the same procedure, although I bake it at 350 dregrees for about 50 minutes, when I stick with a toothpick and it comes out dry. Am I doing something wrong? Greetings.
+trixxter1111 Mixed peel is generally a mix of candied citrus peel. Mixed spice is a blend of spices that you should be able to buy in supermarkets. It's usually a mix of allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, coriander and ground ginger!
+trixxter1111 But if you cant find mixed peel used candied orange peel I use two table spoons :) and zest of orange and lemon and and a juice of an orange and for the mixed spice mix cinnamon and nutmeg and zest of ginger (half a tsp of cinnamon and nutmeg and a tsp of shredded ginger) and there you have some amazing mixed spice :) this is fail proof I always make it this way :D and it comes out perfectly well
"Flax" eggs (soak ground flax seeds in water until all the water is gone) or soaked chia seeds (chia seeds in water until gelatinous). Not sure about measurements, but there are plenty online, I'm sure :)
Me and my dad just made a blueberry and lemon polenta cake and I don't actually like blueberries, so I was wondering what else I could put in it instead
Great video - as usually :) Do you have a video showing how to cut baking paper in that perfect circle? Or does any have a link to a tutorial on the internet?? Merry Christmas to you all at SORTED Food - and to all of you in the comments :-)
You take a square and fold it into quarters and then halves again, place the tip of the sliver of paper in the centre of the tin, measure the radius and then cut. Ben had demonstrated in one of their earlier videos but I don't remember which :)
+Søren Augustesen I just put the paper down, put the pan on the paper and trace the pan with a pencil. I then cut out the circle, cutting on the inside of the pencil. Can't go wrong with that method.
I don't have almonds. Can I use all APF? Will it affect the texture of the cake? Also, please do a Christmas special like your Milkshake video please please please. :P
+shiver_me_timbers Not sure if it would substitute 1:1, you might want to use a little less AP flour. Almonds help keep the cake moist, so it might turn out dry if you substitute flour 1:1.
Well to make sure it doesn't burn just do the simple act of steaming it so it will take 4 hours instead of 2 no biggie still shorter then three months even though my Grandma once made one a year before and from what I'm told it was the best many a folk hd
Use it every year. My family loves it.
You guys are just awesome. 😁
I have been doing this recipe for the last 6 yrs.. never disappoints.. prepering for this yrs
Do you have the ingredient amounts saved, the Sorted website doesn’t seem to work anymore so I’ve just ended up guessing 😬

Ahhh holly is the festive version of a sprig of mint.
+nacho2469 So true

When you said Swedish Cake Tin all I thought of is IKEA 😂😂😂😂
Legendary Christmas cake tips. Good work community
my dad is helping with some church handy work so I'm blaring this out in church and someone shouted "don't tempt me Satan" well then...
+Tarah Field dont you know my dear... Satan comes in the shape of a Last Minute Christmas cake
+FrozenAceGaming ah yes, the most humble of Christmas disguises.
That's hilarious!😂

That parchment paper work took me longer than actually making the cake - pheww - its in the oven now ! hope it will be tasting as good as it looks
beautiful, absolutely beautiful.... the cake looks nice as well.

OMG Ben you're so accurate with paper folding and patterns
Merry Christmas guys! ☺

Less than a day, is already a very strong assurance that the cake recipe is a cakewalk !!
Are you guys kidding?!?! I planned my Christmas meal last weekend, saw you guys had no Christmas cake recipe and made stollen instead. Now you have a Christmas cake recipe, I have a stollen and nothing is trad'l anymore. Bugger!!

Merry Christmas to #Sorted food and all of you guys.... 😊😊
I know we teased Ben about the sprig of mint but I want it back. How else can I make a foolish impression of him in my kitchen?
:D

Omg it's look like a combination between fruit cake and chocolate cake. TASTY!!!
+chatsaran lattanand Yep! It's great for people who aren't sure about fruitcake.
Merry Christmas from Spain😙😙
Good one boys.Merry Christmas to both of you

And she is a good woman and totally correct 💗💗

I almost fell over! NO SPRING OF MINT GARNISH!.... Then I realized, holly is just mint with Christmas sprit. Ben, you're a sneaky one!!
Ben saying amazeballs IS amazeballs.
Looks totally awesome! Merry Christmas.
Did I hear Ben say "Amazeballs"? Because that is amazeballs.

Wow Ben, i think we'd get a surprise when eating that cake: you can se the egg shell on 3:02 falling into the mixture hahaha all part of the recipe?
You guys should do crumpets!
Hi Ben :) can you do more Vietnamese food ? Maybe sweets is awesome
Awesome guys!!!
Also great cake!☺️
Don't worry guys. The holly is just a sprig of mint in disguise! :D
can u make a snow cone syrup ? , or the shave ice syrup?
HOLY CRAP, in less than 24 hours you have over 100,000 views!😳 Way to go!!!
I am so influenced by this channel, because everytime i finished creating a dish, i ended it by saying "sorted"
Why do you need the paper around the outside of the tin? What does that do?
Will u be uploading big night in on Friday aka CHRISTMAS!!!
Chocolate rum fruitcake? Daaaaamn I neeed some of that.
That parchment paper went through some hardcore origami there 😂
I always look on your faces guys when you are saying Sorted! Mike is like: "I don't know how we did it, but try it too!" (whatever it is) and Ben is always like: "It wasn't so hard you idiot."
Is Nigella Lawson gotta get any credit for this cake? I wonder how much of this recipe is yours and how much is a cut and paste job?
did you put cream on top at the end?
+SORTEDfood When your channel has the only cover photo that matches the personalities of the members... Well done!
Beautiful cake! With 2 hours of cooking you can't make it at the very last minute!
+Cooking Lessons for Dad When it comes to Christmas cake 2 hours is pretty last minute! They take months!
Just buy a cake..
I like watching their videos.
I was also thinking the grocery shopping and paper crafts would take a bit more than a minute too :D
sarcasm at its best. smh

So good!! I make this every single time even if it’s not last minute 🫡
did ben really just say amazeballs.
it made me wayyy to happy...
My exact thought at the end of the video.
+ukulele punks it truly is amazeballs
+ukulele punks My thoughts exactly
It startled a laugh right out of me! I had to go back and listen again to make sure.
Would a ganache be overdoing it or is it fine on its own?
Huge origami skills right there!
In ingredients its says mixed Peel and mixed spice.. What kind of spice and what kind of peel? We probably use a different translation in dutch haha
+trixxter1111 Mixed peel is generally a mix of candied citrus peel. Mixed spice is a blend of spices that you should be able to buy in supermarkets. It's usually a mix of allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, coriander and ground ginger!

+SORTED Food Where is Big Night In?
happy holidays
The link no longer works. Did anyone happen to write down the actual ingredients and their amounts before the page disappeared?
I love it
Why did you put bakingpaper around the tin? I did not really get how it effects the Cake on the inside..
Any alternatives to the eggs? I'm allergic to the eggs but I still want to make this cake!
"Flax" eggs (soak ground flax seeds in water until all the water is gone) or soaked chia seeds (chia seeds in water until gelatinous). Not sure about measurements, but there are plenty online, I'm sure :)
I like it how mike can say the liquor name(rum) by just smelling it in short time
Could you make honey mustard fish tacos with homemade honey mustard?! :D please and thank you!😋
I'm definitely gonna need an instructional video on the circular liners.
Me and my dad just made a blueberry and lemon polenta cake and I don't actually like blueberries, so I was wondering what else I could put in it instead
what can i replace the rum with ?
I hope Tyrone has a lovely Christmas... lol
what did we do before parchment paper?
Awesome, this is very handy to know. Cheers lads! :)
I made Christmas cake last year and it was really boozy!!! But do you really call it "tasty"? I'm curious.
what is the size of the cake tin??
Can you still soak this one? I like a really well matured cake.
wow it's awesome cake I wanna eat that cake
can you do something like hawaiian theme or Luahau?...sry if i spelled that wrong
Can you do a chocolate chip cupcake size of a cake
Please!!!!!!!
Oh, so is holly the new mint? I suppose we'll be seeing that on every dish from now on then. X'D
If I don't want it to be chocolate can I just leave out the cocoa powder?
Great video - as usually :) Do you have a video showing how to cut baking paper in that perfect circle? Or does any have a link to a tutorial on the internet??

+Aboli Joshi Thanks for the description :) Will have to try it out!
+Cooking Lessons for Dad I guess you could do it that way :-) I just thought Ben's way looked kinda cool.
It did look cool!
can u make macarons italian method??????????
BOOM SHAKALAKA!! Looks so delicioso :)
Merry Christmas people of youtube
Lol Ben replaced his sprig of min for a sprig of holly for the holiday season!
Ben saying "amazeballs" is like an old woman texting "omg, rofl and bants!" #GetThisOnCommentOfTheWeek
Disapointed in the lack of Carol singing this year guys! ;-) Happy Christmas Sorted Food!
Any substitute for the alcohol?
Alternative to adding rum? As in a non-alcoholic option
The alcohol gets evaporated out of it so it doesn't really have the alcohol in it after its cooked. Sorry but I don't have a substitute for it.
+Wasif Haque grape juice?
+Wasif Haque Some kind of juice might work. We haven't tried it, but apple or orange juice should be good!
+Wasif Haque i've seen recipes with orange juice so you should be okay using that!
I know an easier way to have a great cake every Xmas, marry me Ben ;)
:)
I'm curious - why does this cake take so much longer than regular cakes in the oven?
Well to make sure it doesn't burn just do the simple act of steaming it so it will take 4 hours instead of 2 no biggie still shorter then three months
even though my Grandma once made one a year before and from what I'm told it was the best many a folk hd
