I think A Few Good Men is one of the best motion pictures ever made. The script is tight and flawless, the actors really know what they’re doing and make it feel so real, and it’s compelling from start to finish.
Yea, " A Few Good Men" is one of the best motion picture. I am always seeing it time and time again, the acting of Jack Nicholson & Tom Cruise so flawless, especially in the last part.
It's a very good movie, very entertaining but also *very* unrealistic. As a former criminal lawyer I will tell you that Tom Cruise's character could not possibly be *that* good at trial with having zero experience in a trial setting. That's like saying someone who has never played basketball can beat an NBA player. Not going to happen. It's a practice thing. He may be brilliant and talented, and with practice may become the best trial lawyer in the country, but with no practice he will not be even good or average. In law school we were taught, and it's true, that it takes about 10 years of constant trial practice to become competent, not great, competent. As someone who has tried criminal cases I can attest to this fact. Also, there is no way Cruises' character would ask whether Jessup ordered the Code Red, and if Cruise was stupid enough to ask this question, no way Jessup admits it. Never happens, ever in real life.
Lew Stone Nah, I disagree. The movie had realistic locations, uniforms & characters. And It doesn’t take everyone a long time to be good at their job or get lucky. Also, some soldiers are bold and, just like Tom Cruise’s character, they will sometimes challenge authority. I only wish more of them did.
We had an O-6 our ships captain that was a real jerk one time I watched him take the gum out of mouth and drop it into someone's coffee cup. His demeader was very much like Jessep an egotistical jerk.
It's actually true. They NEVER (or hardly) ever gave Jack the chance of such a big role and it fills me with joy to hear how much Jack loved playing this role :)

Perfectly understandable. Actors, musicians, comedians, all sorts of performers love to do what they do (especially the best ones). You can become physically tired but you keep going. One of the GREAT movies I've ever seen. Some people say the script wasn't good. I thought the entire script was GREAT. NO WONDER IT WAS A GREAT MOVIE. ROB REINER DIRECTED IT.

There's a story that Nicholson and Tom cruise were never in the same room when they were filming. And when you watch it they were shown at the same time. And Kevin Pollack did say that he had to step in for some of the final editing
Indeed, hard to pick a winner between those two, but I give Pacino the slight edge merely because I can look at a small sampling of movies (Godfather/Scarface/Scent of a Woman) and find it hard to believe it's the same guy playing those parts. He pulls them off flawlessly. Especially Tony Montana. A different hairdoo and a little pigment to the skin. I still find it hard to believe that's the same guy that tries to rob a Brooklyn bank.
Two things I immediately will do after leaving this page. 1)Go to Rotten Tomatoes to remind myself how good a film this is. 2)Gonna plan a time to rewatch it.
“Four hundred and Thirty thousand dollars in one month Jordy, huh!!?? Four hundred and Fucken Thirty thousand fucking dollars, in one Fucking month!!!??” 🤣
The trailer made that scene iconic, but frankly, when I saw the movie and that moment came, I was disappointed, because directly afterwards Tom just walked up and said "did you order it" and he said "yes." case done. There was no working through a struggle, dealing with the intimidation, nothing.
Do these interviewers have such huge inferiority complexes that they need to be sitting at a higher level than the people being interviewed ? They all seem to do it.
I know nothing about movie making but I always assumed they would have multiple cameras shooting the different actors during each take and then splice it together in editing.
This is the first time Cruise proved he could really act. Before this movie, he did mostly popcorn romcoms and action-fluff movies. This movie showcased his abilities, and yet also allowed him to be damn funny. I remember when this movie came out, and I was really surprised at how good he was in this. I think this performance was THE high point of his career and maybe even should have netted him an Oscar. IMO, he should look for more roles like this one.

Jack Nicholson and Al Pacino are tied for the Greatest ever in my book.
Greatest ever or greatest since you can remember, i.e.1990 ?
Indeed, hard to pick a winner between those two, but I give Pacino the slight edge merely because I can look at a small sampling of movies (Godfather/Scarface/Scent of a Woman) and find it hard to believe it's the same guy playing those parts. He pulls them off flawlessly. Especially Tony Montana. A different hairdoo and a little pigment to the skin. I still find it hard to believe that's the same guy that tries to rob a Brooklyn bank.
And that's why it's Jack Nicholson's world and we are all just living in it.
Wow. A little celebrity worship maybe? 😂
Well done meathead! I really enjoyed "A few good men". You are the man.
Ive heard that from first read rehearsals to the multiple shoots, Nicholson was that intense
Reiner does a pretty good Nicholson
I heard the only Jack that Meathead does now is Jack in the Box...
Great video
Two things I immediately will do after leaving this page. 1)Go to Rotten Tomatoes to remind myself how good a film this is. 2)Gonna plan a time to rewatch it.
“Four hundred and Thirty thousand dollars in one month Jordy, huh!!?? Four hundred and Fucken Thirty thousand fucking dollars, in one Fucking month!!!??” 🤣
jack doesn't make movies, he makes classics.
Brilliant movie...Nicholson at his best....
I
I know nothing about movie making but I always assumed they would have multiple cameras shooting the different actors during each take and then splice it together in editing.
Amazing scene...
No wonder this movie won best picture. It featured all the necessary elements. Mainly Jack.
Not a big fan of Tom Cruise but this movie was probably my favorite of all time.
