I would like to ask: why dont you use the grid layout for hotkeys? Is it just because you are used to this from the beginning of playing wc3? For new players, would you recommend the grid layout?
@@peterzeman2749 obvs he's grown up with normal hotkeys. New players should use what works best for them. I am a fan of grid since I used to have custom hotkeys which were similar but sometimes i still accidentally press default hotkey since I've played this game most of my life

This is fascinating. Even though the game I actually play ranked is AoE2, not WC3, there's still a great window into how important extensive game knowledge is in decision-making and prediction.

Since I always prefered to play orc, this video helps me so much. So far I lose almost every game but I feel it might be coming back 😅

Understanding the amount of thought Grubby has to put into every decision in the game, and the vast knowledge and experience he has about WC3 is just amazing. It really felt like a master strategist like Zhuge Liang! Very well played Warchief!
It would be nice if Grubster made a micro guide for noob to average players. A lot of people quit PC games all together and only play console because they find controlling units with a keyboard awkward. I am a significantly above average player, and yet I usally get 4-5 control groups when I play even when I have a large army because with my thick and heavy fingers I find it difficult to micro units individually and I cannot control more than about 4 control groups plus 2-3 heroes without getting worse results than I would with more. I could never do what Happy or TH do of having individual units as whole control groups for up to 10-12 CG in a game. That is insane, and I feel like you need to have fingers as thin, long and light as that of Grubby or Happy to even consider this. For most people, this is just not mechanically possible no matter how much you practice. I usually micro my heroes, I put all melee units in a control group, then heroes + melee in another, casters in another, workers in another, and if I have tier 3 units those go in another. I find it mechanically difficult to control more than that. That is good enough to beat more than 80% of ladde players, but that doesn't mean much since most ladder players are average. I feel like there are some strategically very strong players that never reach the top because they can't reach pro level micro. They used to allow sticky keys in the old WC3, which made it easier, but now that is gone.

What kind of sausages for fingers you have? Being just an aspiring world-class pianist would be an many times overkilling the amount of button mashing needed for w3.

In the context of the game, Macro is controlling your economy: managing your gold income, your BO, your overall strat. Micro is managing what each unit is actually doing: Where it moves, who attacks who, where to scout, using items, spells, etc.
why would you explain this for beginners with hotkeys like g for grunts?? When you are not already used to it, go ahead and get a QWER customkeys.txt and make your life much easier witout getting a strain in your hand
Early beginners are just going to be using default hotkeys. It's not a bad idea to use QWER customkeys but Grubby probably didn't want to talk about customkeys and keep the focus on macro and micro
