Whether you just picked up WC3 or you're a veteran, it's always nice to take a look at others' gameplay! That's what we're doing today as two of my viewers reached out to me to ask for a replay analysis. While they understand the basis of the game, they always seem to be outclassed by their opponents. Let's go step by step and see what areas can be improved!
props to Grubby for having so much patience being at his level to watch a person make mistakes and help them. I barely am better than this gameplay he's reviewing and it frustrates me the mistakes he makes
I dont even play this game, but in general it makes sense - if somoenoe is BARELOY bettyer, it frustrtes him cause he sees this as a possible game on his level, just a very bad one and its frustrating; if you are MUCH better, you see it more like a student doing something in class tahn a reallife experience, if it makes sense, you are so far away from this you can just distance yourself and point out mistakes helpfully, without being too frustrated idk if it makes sense what I am saying tho xd
It makes him money so ddd. And was this video really about basics? Like keybinds or simple things like right clicking your hero when on barack so mobs go there when spaw
FriendsSouls here. This is one of the most helpful videos for beginners. Develops mindset SO MUCH, while also integrating the in game decisions. 10/10 content for beginners/amateur.
YESS THIS IS WHAT I WANTED honestly i was stuck in a bottleneck for my apm like doing macro's and micro's. I was too focused on the advanced stuff like army predicting, positioning etc. That i forgot the basics and where to start first and what to do. Thank you very much -much love from a recent fan ;)
This is an old video but grubby after scouring your bloody beginner and guide type videos , this video finally made so many things click as an absolute first time WC3 player. I only ever played campaign as a kid so I only have half knowledge units , along with fast kiting skills from league of legends . But this video helped clear up so many random questions I had , questions that couldn’t be answered with a google search but instead with in game experience that I was too afraid to dive in to get myself. The fact that I was able to identify some (not all) of the mistakes made right before you mentioned them made me feel more confident as well. Wish me luck I’m about to join my first wc3 champions game
... my entire life grubby is the guy who I respect... When I was a teen I watch his replays nonstop... and now... This is the first time I see his face and listen to his voice and mental flow. JUST a normal, smart guy who knows how things work... I LOVE how chill he is when he is under pressure ( or I would be ). This is soooo satisfying to watch how big players win a big games with cold-blooded chill because for their brains it just everything is easy and make sense :)
This is really awesome. That's exactly how my games always run. Good opening, decent midgame, no idea how to finish the job. I would love to see more of this.
This is the kind of content I've been expecting for a while. With 1 video you achieve 3 objectives: You entertain the people by making impartial points on other's gameplay; You teach the people who watch you on more or less what to look for on a war3 meta game, thus making them more willingly to buy war3 just to play it (like me); Be essentially the only one on this kind of content, approaching a new set of viewers/fans which don't follow you because they don't understand the high level gameplay you're in. As a recent fan who found you on a youtube recommendation more or less a year ago, I'm even more pleased by the quality of your content. Keep up the good work!
Watching this reminded me of my biggest hurdle back when I was still playing wc3 in ladder, that being the tunnel vision I had while trying to micro my units in battle and tottaly neglecting macro. That resulting in me losing most games that stretched longer than my confort zone. Thank you for pointing out the mistakes most of us are/were doing in regards to macro play!
You need to do more of these vids, you have done a couple in the past and i really missed them, they are very helpfull to understand the things that we always watch you do on your matches. Keep it up Grubb ^_^
These sort of videos are great! Maybe some for the other races too? I personally find it hard to learn how to become better by just watching high level replays because... well because im not a high level player lol, and the commentary here is super insightful
A replay review segment could be awesome but it would also be really great to sometimes turn off fog so you can show where the enemy is at. I think sometimes players get scared or don't do anything because they don't have an understanding of what their opponents are doing/thinking.
I think there's value in doing it once with fog of war on, then again without. If you keep turning it off and on, you're training the wrong way, because you don't get the benefit of this information during game. At least when I watch someone's replay I must first have Fog on otherwise I know more than them, and it influences my feedback (sub)consciously
Amazing video! You can even apply these tips to everything in life lol. 1. Predetermine actions, and react accordingly to what you see with said predetermined actions. 2. Know what's adaptable and what's not. Choose the adaptable path if you lack knowledge/awareness until you get said knowledge/awareness. 3. Have intent. Don't just be busy effectively, Finish effectively.
Excellent critique and guidance! And almost everything you said was applicable to ANY race in terms of general gameplay strategy. As I returning player after MANY years away from WC3 I'm pretty much a newb and really appreciate a top level player taking the time to share your knowledge! You da man Grubby!
@@christianwong1347 Yes I only have the classic one patch 1.31 and in the Philippines players play warcraft 3 dota 1 only but not so much on rts one which is good for me but we can't play in the battlenet because of reforged that cost $ 39.9. Man i wish we can play it on reforged so that we can rank up and with remastered models, maps, and campaigns.
@@dreymac1226 Bro, you just need a Reign of Chaos key that you can get for example at g2a dot com. This allows you to play reforged on battle net - just with old graphics.
I love this kind of videos, I have a similar problem, but I think my main problem is that I don't harass the enemy until late game because I've never feel ready lol, I guess I need more scouting 😅
my god this content is quality. Just returning after looong break. Funny how must of the game realted advices are also applicable in terms of real life xD "... have goal.. Ur actions must serve the goal.."
Started playing undead. Starting doing fine unranked but wc3champions quickly humbled me. I believe my biggest mistake is not scouting/harrassing at the right times.
This helps me a lot,I started playing again after like 10 years and I only played like 20 games 10 years ago,I'm watching videos about how to play human and mechanics but I'm still really bad,my games look like this, I usually know what to do in the first five 5 minutes because I watched guides but then I just roam around aimlessly wasting time until we meet for a fight,I still have tier 1 units vs his tier 2 and 3 and I lose.
You forgot to mention probably one of the most important rules for him: “you improve from your failures, not from your success”. He won, so technically there’s not much to learn for him from this replay. He should watch his replays where he loses and figure out where he could do better, at least better enough so that could give him a win instead of a lose. That’s painful though. So I’ve chosen not to play at all, and just watch RUclips 😂
The 3 main strategies: Rushdown (commit to ending the game soon) Harass /Attrition/ small victories (unsure of game length) Expansion/economy/efficiency (commit to a long game)
I'm a low level. This is beyond my comprehension. I understand what's going on and what he is saying, but I can't remember it all and even less applying it in gameplay. It's all about learning this and then spending an eternity practicing.
Try taking few steps at a time. For example try mastering your economy management only first. Only build workers and buildings, see your timings, see what combos are best. Then the other step would be to build attack units of the same type only and micro manage them. The end game would be to combine all that. The map editor is great as a testing and practice ground. You can even confirm why some units counter others.
So cool. Im pretty new to the game, too, and lost this afternoon, again. A little frustrated right now. I wished i had saved the replay now. It always seems to me in fights, just like the guy in the video said, I take damage so fast, i dont know what to do. Ill try again tomorrow.
Inefficiencies, bad decision making but perhaps the biggest was the lack of gameplan. What good is it to have perfect micro and build order if you have no win condition?
Thanks for this video! I'm kinda in the same situation as the guy that requested this. But I look at this and then notice that the opponents I face feel like so much better in skill level then I am. How come there is sometimes such disparity in skill level?
Wow, a lot of stuff to remember. Something that can't be mastered overnight. Great video though. Gives us ordinary mortals a glimpse of how real rts gods think. 😉👍
You play a race who's hero has darn near permanent cloak. That doesnt' take much skill. I'm at least 10 levels higher with Orc than any other race, and I don't even know how to play as Orc, because the blademaster and troll are all you need to win 90% of games.
Grubby, about 16 years ago I've been young, stupid and I whispered you in Battle net that "I hate you horden ass" 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ And you "replied me" with a /dnd command 😁 16 years later I want you to know I'm sorry about this 😅 GG WP 😊
The only race I feel easy on is orc... While people said play orc is very hard I feel like orc is the easiest and other race only make my rank drop 🤣. It's been 10 years of not touching other race.

Grubby can you organize a Warcraft III Blizzard Key for me ?
InstaBlaster.
cool video, I enjoyed and learned something new!
Man, you should do more videos like this!
Yes. It was very informational and I’m not sure most people think about the game in this manner
pena ser burro em não saber inglês e sofrer para entender
Please!
props to Grubby for having so much patience being at his level to watch a person make mistakes and help them. I barely am better than this gameplay he's reviewing and it frustrates me the mistakes he makes
biggest reason i follow grubby is that he has developed a very mature mentality and reacts really well in situations. I've learned so much from him

I struggled as a beginner with one concept: this game is EXTREMELY timing based. You need to know when to hit certain timings, just like in Starcraft.

Woooow I LOvED this format. Please do more videos like this!!
Man I love how Grubb is so smart! I am loving these videos! Make more of them, please!
Tnx,this video will help me to now where to build in proper location and train faster... Love and support from🇵🇭
Do you have wc3 reforged? Because I'm also from the Philippines
wow nice me too. not much people from our country play this game so its always nice to know you guys also play this game 😁

I play human and I found this video great ! Thank you grubby :)
FINALLY TUTORIAL IN GRUBBY!!!

One of your most educational vids ever. Thank you Grubby!

Wow....... been playing this game since I was like... 7 years old barely getting somewhat decent thanks to Grubby!!
It would be awesome if you made this a series!
Please make this a regular series Grubby it's great content
This video was super enlightening! Thanks grubby
this was a nice video. I'm mostly pick HU since the original WC3. So seeing a playstyle from an ORC perspective is refreshing.
awesome grubstar!! ♥ very helpfull . Keep up the great vids mate!
YESS!!! hello from Japan now!!!! You should do more of these. This was really entertaining and enlightens. You give really great information
Started playing undead. Starting doing fine unranked but wc3champions quickly humbled me. I believe my biggest mistake is not scouting/harrassing at the right times.
I love these Grubby. Go mustache!
great video. especially as someone who doesn't have time to really play much, it was great to hear the insight.
How brilliant is this ~ thx Grubby
👨🏻🏫 . . . 👨🏻💻
Grubby would be a pretty good teacher
For a second i thought it was harstem "it is imba or do i suck" lol

I've been watching your reply since 2015 and im gland that your sharing your skills. I hope you'll continue make this video

Thanks for this.
damn grubby you're making me consider picking up wc3. 10/10 content.
your missing all the fun mate lets go !
This is really helpful, thank you grubby
Loved that thumbnail. Haha
Grubby: You should have a goal also..

Very informative and helpful, thanks
This must become a series !

Awesome video, this is the information ive been looking for.
that was very insightful, i appreciate it
It is incredible how you handle the lockdown mate!
Very instructive! You should do this more, please!
the way you are commenting on the game actually i can apply in real life
nice video, i like the part about preparation importance

i need teaching on how to play undeads, i like to do necromancer swarming but while getting to that tier the enemy has all out against me xwx
This is enjoyable content thanks grubby
Great vid....I would advise this over your overexplain vids where you are trying to both play and analyze at the same time. :)
Hey Grubby, I love your educational videos. You are commenting with all respect und great knowledge. Thanks!
Great video great explaining!!!
The Orc video on this topic is half as long as the NE one. Goes to show that Orcs are SMOrc and NE are 5Head.
So cool.
Im pretty new to the game, too, and lost this afternoon, again. A little frustrated right now. I wished i had saved the replay now.
It always seems to me in fights, just like the guy in the video said, I take damage so fast, i dont know what to do.

It is not true that a 10 seconds delay is 30 seconds delay if you have queued up two grunts and the first one is building. It is still 10 seconds.
Thanks, i needed this tuto
Thank you grubby i like orcs and foooor the hoooooorde however as nightelf player where and when you should build your shop ?
Loved It! 👌
I can beat the easy AI with every faction except Night Elf. It's crazy how difficult it is.
please do a series of these 😁
Thank u so much grubby

When u said you should be pressing f2 at the part when he should have been getting healing items from shop. What does f2 function as?
Select second hero hotkey.
Love the format. But why did he send replay where he wins. He really needs to send losing replay
Gruby i think its better to play with 2 heros Who hit from distance and 3 normal
The only race I feel easy on is orc... While people said play orc is very hard I feel like orc is the easiest and other race only make my rank drop 🤣. It's been 10 years of not touching other race.
