    Something else about Diane is people dont talk like this anymore. Something about her cadence or drawl and her intonation gives me an incredible kick of nostalgia; like I remember how my mom’s friends used to sound when I was a kid

    Diane! You're awesome. You really give me the feeling you actually WANT people to learn this. So many teachers leave out very important details but you explain every single detail and give great close-ups. I really appreciate you. I've been using acrylics but you have inspired me to try oils. THANK YOU!

    When I was a kid I used to watch my granddaddy paint landscapes of certain areas of our land in Savannah and he would do seascapes when we’d go to Florida, I always thought painting seascapes was difficult because I could never get mine to look like his, but watching Ms. Andre do this painting I got a new and simpler way to make seascapes. Also, my granddaddy used Bill Alexander paints and supplies

    I can’t believe you had a 40+ min Diane Andre episode! I’m so glad it’s so amazing seeing her teach and to see her get twice as much time to do a more detailed painting is so nice. Though I will say I find it interesting that she used her finger for the sand grain effect and not something like the knife to flick the paint on lol, her finger much be so messy with paint on it. But what a great painting nonetheless

      I'm confused, Bill taught Bob. Bob began his shows before Bill. Bob later had Bill on his own show. Then I guess there was a falling away which was unfortunate. Bob had Diane on his show in 1984 two years before she hooked up w Bill and did shows with him like these in 1986-87, I know she liked both. She is much more shy and unpolished yet on Bob's show, although good business lady, she did more than held her own. by the time she was w Alexander she knew she was good, the hair do's and styles and perhaps her private studio's proved that too her.

    • @Handles-R-Lame
      @Handles-R-Lame 2 года назад +1

      @A E you dont know what ur talking about. First off, alot of Bills shows were aired in an outside setting(as in fumes couldnt build up) also oil paints by their own nature have many toxins in them, but with anything the dose makes the poison. As in dont sit there and breathe in cadmium yellow fumes directly from the tube!
      With this being said many things can be attributed to any individual artist. Bob said himself that he never thought he'd live to an old age, as he was a very heavy cigarette smoker. Same for most people of that time, because there was no knowledge of the adverse effects associated with it.
      Furthermore, what about Buck Paulson and Lowell Speers they both are very much alive and close to 90 years old! And im sure they had the same amount of contact with those "fumes" you ignorantly speak about. As they too were on Bill's show. Also Buck still paints! So what does that say about those "fumes" you speak of?
      Oil painting has been around for centuries and will continue to be around for the foreseeable future, and as such with anything in life establishing the proper safety habits is key in enjoying oil painting to its fullest potential as well as staying healthy while doing so.

    Diane is one of the best teachers of "wet on wet" who ever lived. She coughed a lot during this video. It makes me wonder if all of the years of inhaling paint thinner started to effect her lungs. I read in an obituary article that she battled cancer before she died. Bill Alexander, Bob Ross and his wife Jane Ross, all died from lymphoma. I am very concerned that the benzene in odorless paint thinner kills painters over time. I would be curious to see if any of the other guests on Bill's show or Bob's show died of lymphoma.
