Someone had shared this video of my mom I had never seen before. I was ecstatic to see this and excited to show my kids. My mom died when my children were babies. As we were watching with such sentiment and love I was excited to scroll through the comments to share with my 8 year old the nice things people might have to say about their grandmothers video. About 30 seconds into the comments I had to ask him to leave the room and stop reading the comments. It actually felt like someone had punched me in the gut. I had no idea the world of the internet could be so cruel to someone they don't even know. Just a reminder to the people who say awful things that this is someone's mother and grandmother that we love and admire deeply. This absolutely broke my heart reading these yesterday. She was a single mom raising me all by herself who actually had a very good career as an artist. I loved and adored her.

Thank you for your nice comment. Indeed I have a lovely collection. Funny story is that back in the 80's my mother and Bob Ross traveled around teaching the Alexander technique and they accumulated quite a few of these "teaching paintings". I like her approach. Bob is wonderful and has a good sense of description for things but sometimes it helps a lot to get a different perspective on the same thing. I've been watching these videos for some time now and still not really clear about how much or how little pressure Bob puts on the canvas sometimes. He makes it all look so easy, even when he's applying force he doesn't seem like he's really putting in that much force. So seeing someone else do these things really does help me understand some things I wasn't clear on before.
I really like her, relaxing calming voice, I really enjoy her. I read she had a long time cancer battle, must've been a strong lady. God bless you Barbara & your family. Another good friend of Bob Ross is Joyce Ortner (Seascapes)

I love Bob and I think he’s an amazing painter but I like how this lady really explains in detail what she’s doing. Her tutorial was very easy to follow and I knew exactly what to do, why I was doing it and how to go about it! She really was a fantastic painter❤️
I've been a professional TV broadcaster for more than 30 years and I think she is fantastic! Sure, she started a little nervous, but she got control of it fast. And her da, da, da and ba, ba, ba was endearing and made her seem at ease.
How sad for her Daughter to come on here to see her Mom ( who has since passed away) to find so many unkind comments. All who thought Whisper "Adios" was funny... you're all a piece of work. Barbara Andre-Van Lith, your Mom was a wonderful Artist. I enjoyed it a lot! Honestly, those who rudely commented, obviously have no people skills, except flapping their ugly mouths.
People are "brave" on RUclips comments because they are anonymous, most would sit quietly and not say a word in real life until they got back to their basements. I enjoyed the video and wish I had 1/10 of the talent of your mom. I am 53 and if I try to draw something I can put it on the refrigerator next to my 8 year old and you could not tell the difference :-)
David*, are you the third baseman for the New York Mets? I hope your recovery from your recent back surgery goes well. I would spend most of the down times watching TJOP with Bob Ross! :-) (*please read with a sense of humor)

People don’t like change anyway. If your mom had her own RUclips channel at the time this video was filmed, she would have had thousands of followers! What I love bout this woman is that she truly found her own style with painting this way. She even has her own sounds and things to say that make it work for her. I love that! Most copy the exact things Bob used to say. Certain things she does entirely different from Bob which is great! After all it's about doing your own thing and finding your own style, not about copying someone else's. Kudos to her. I like her, painting is great!
No, she's not Bob but she has her own style. Some people really use or "abuse" their tools - she may handle them rather harshly but the result looks great! A different style for sure but I don't get all the negativity from the people here. Do we all have to paint and work alike? What would Bob say to that?
Taimoor Khan can you piss off now? You repeating the same comments is getting annoying. If Bob didn’t paint this, how can you tell hers is better than Bobs?
I love seeing the guest painters honestly. Sure none of em have the hypnotic extremely relaxing voice of bob, but each one rivaled bob in his painting, and even surpassed him in certain areas. Now of course bobs lessons were easier, but I've found some of the guests paintings a bit more stunning.
There is one I don’t like. I don’t remember his name now, but he was an older stubby man. His painting was fine, but when bob introduced him, he called the man one of the best painters of the time, sung his praises. Then, during the episode, he kept saying that if you want to paint, you must study the style of, and do it like, the old masters, and that you should never do things the “easy way”, and always make sure to pay attention to every single detail. Basically, Bob praised and lauded him, and he comes on BOB’S SHOW, and essentially starts saying that Bob’s style isn’t good enough, and that he’s doing it wrong, that the method Bob teaches is the wrong way to paint. I don’t like that guest, because he was an ass. Diane here, on the other hand, seems lovely

Loved how this Lady was aggressive with the brush, and was showing it didn't honestly matter how aggressive you were with the brush, she had the most amazing painting ever! Her color schemes were off the chart's in this painting as well. She wasn't afraid to explore color, or ideas in her painting she just went with it! What an amazing Artist!
I have been watching bob Ross videos on RUclips to get inspired and came across this delightful woman! I can't imagine how intimidating it would be to step in for Bob Ross! I think she did a wonderful job, both on the painting and on her presentation. Her grandchildren must be so proud.

I personally wouldn’t say anything “negative” about this woman but my opinion of her on the show was 👎 not impressed. And I’m allowed to not be impressed lol
I dont know people, I realize its not exactly ASMR but this ladys pretty damn good....and quick! i love the singing she does "da da da da!" Stop yer hating! and she said DUDE! Bob would never say dude! I love this lady!
I'm glad she finally said that the knife never touches the canvas. I always wondered if that would be the most direct way to describe it, rather than just saying to do it really light, or with no pressure, or like a whisper. I like her and I appreciate hearing a different perspective on the method, with different things focused on and in different ways. It helps add more dimension to my understanding. I really appreciate those two shadows she put for the trees. It's odd to realize that Bob never really puts specific shadows in, but I've never noticed their absence. Seeing those shadows made me want to play around with them as well, and that's the whole point of the show
I had never seen this episode before. This was amazing. She is so talented. Bob always makes his paintings look easy. Well, she did as well. I loved her commentary all the way through. Her passion and knowledge was present and apparent. Simply lovely. I hope I find more guest appearances of her.
This lady was so talented and a Master Painter before Bob. The ignorance of those who commented negatively was not the voice of artists, just disgruntled people who only see anger and darkness. These were not people of God who value hope, love, or friendship. Those awful comments were small spiteful people wanting to bring her down to where they dwell. I love watching your mom and grandma paint with Bill Alexander and Bob Ross as she has taught me far more than the guys. I love her strength and her ownership of her creativity. God bless you and enjoy your might day!!
Wow, Diane was great! The clouds are amazing. I love the ease and comfort with which she paints. And the messy palette--I completely relate to that! It's a lovely contrast to Bob's technique but an excellent demonstration of how different techniques can produce amazing paintings!
Well , i think that apart from us thumbing them down and reporting where appropriate , the channel owner itself could be a bit more active in removing hateful posts
There is no scorn or venom in people's posts, you oversensitive immature brat, its just a joke, because Diane is almost a direct constrast to Bob in these videos, because of her louder firm voice and the fact that, at one point, she seemed like she was stabbing the canvas, there is nothing wrong with making jokes, nobody is offending her personally, and people like you need to grow up.
@@Macaulyn_97 seriously ?? Have you seen the comment that her daughter shared in this comment section ? Can you imagine how she must have felt, reading these awful things about her mom?
Her palette looks like a war zone but it produced a great painting. Her technique was very laidback and stress free, and those sounds she'd make were pretty fun. 👍 I like her style and this one goes under my favourites. 💙
Miss Andre, like Bob were taught to paint wet on wet by the great Bill Alexander. All three artist never fail to amaze me on how easily they produce a great painting.
I'm always (even after all these years of watching this show) fascinated by the wealth of different techniques and perspectives. She created such an illusion with this, it actually looked photographic at many points.
Love Diane's 'wet-on-wet' techniques! She definitely had her method mastered to perfection! Great mountain painting! I'm so glad that Bob gave her the opportunity for some television recognition! She was really incredible! It's tragic to learn that the artistic world has lost this gifted lady! I have got to try this painting myself!
Im.just learning. Paintings are coming out pretty good. But it amazes me how quickly they can finish a painting. It can take me a couple days on something like that. Beautiful. ❤
Diane Andre appeared a lot on Bill Alexander's "Magic of Oil Painting" show, and was one of Bill's many expert painters. She was a fantastic painter, and she will be missed. Great painting here.
She's a good painter. She has a gruff demeanor about her because she's a big strapping woman who eats nails for breakfast, wrestles grizzlies, drives a rig and grew up learning how to beat all her brothers in arm wrestling but hey so what? She isn't a pickinick basket of daisies? Sure, she comes on like a bulldozer pushing a manure avalanche. Sure she doesn't paint happy clouds and trees but prefers hail storms, thunderclouds and surly, rough type vegetation that she makes with her angry gouges and sweeps but she can paint and isn't that enough really?
Oh, and those clouds she made, holy cow!!! I think even Bob was a li'l envious there, haha. What a beautiful sky! I could never get it done the way Bob does skies, I think I can do it her way though. I will put that to the test!
Meanwhile... somewhere in heaven Bob and Diane are looking down upon the world we live in today- with our technology and our cyber highways full of anonymous keyboard tough guys- shaking their heads in disbelief; yet calmly saying, "God bless you, our friends." That's the difference between their generation and ours! R.I.P.
THE PAINT THINNER THEY USED KILLED THEM. BOB ROSS & HER. WHY STEVE STOPPED PAINTING AFTER HIS DAD DIED AT 52 FROM CANCER. OIL PAINT .. THE FUMES ARE TOXIC AS IS THE PAINT THINNER. NO WONDER SO MANY DIED FROM CANCER ! SAD.
She had her moments when she was beating the devil out of the brushes directly on the canvas... But the result is beautiful and her singing along was nice and playful. I bed she was nervous as everyone would be who is not normally painting infront of camera. I enjoyed her. God bless her soul
Of course we love Bob Ross, but it's always refreshing having a guest come on to a show going on for years and looking it at their work. She's one of my favorites on here.
Holy shit she's oddly mezmerising. LOVE LOVE LOVE her style, her quiet singing as she paints, and her somewhat aggressiveness which is so satisfying to me honestly. It's noticeable that she enjoys creating and painting. Love that. I heard that this amazing woman has since passed away, and some of the comments here are rather rude, which she doesn't deserve. May her talented soul rest in peace.
I feel so grateful to enjoy the nostalgia of Bob Ross' beautiful TV series. This is the first time that I've watched Diane Andre but I still really enjoyed watching her paint. Bob Ross must of really respected her work a lot to allow her to take over for a show.
Going through these videos in chronological order, i always feel like skipping the guest painter episodes. But Bob was the man, he chose them for a reason, and the guests grow on you halfway through the video. Her da da da's won me over.
Wow Yang! Don't get bent b_ _ _ _! Chill and take a nap! All is good... Freedom of speech is a b_ _ _ _! Can't drag folks out back to a firing squad just because they make you mad. So b_ _ _ _ take it easy. Peace.
She only smirked when Bob said he would 'cut her loose' - she knows she's as good as Bob if not better. She certainly gives more detail on tool technique than Bob which is very helpful. Wonderful painting and done in her own style, whilst using the technique.
This is a great episode. She starts nervous, but then the artist in her kicked in after just a couple minutes. She was totally in the zone! But to see how real she was and watch her literally get in to her painters mind, that was so awesome. Her color mixing was so much braver than Bob's, and she got some really beautiful things to happen.

Seeing those shadows made me want to play around with them as well, and that's the whole point of the show
Wow! What a talented artist. And a beautiful painting.
I'm in love with the way she paints her clouds!!!! Definitely wanting to try that technique next time I make clouds 😍
Can't get over how dense her forest looks! Incredible painter.
I had never seen this episode before. This was amazing. She is so talented. Bob always makes his paintings look easy. Well, she did as well. I loved her commentary all the way through. Her passion and knowledge was present and apparent. Simply lovely. I hope I find more guest appearances of her.
She is a fantastic painter. Anyone leaving negative comments is not a reflection of her. It is their fault. She did a great job.
This has to be one of the coolest and most beautiful paintings of the series. Love it.
She's a wonderful painter, knows exactly what she's doing. I can tell she loves what she does, seems to make her happy. Nice video....
oh my god, her voice is life
I loved the way she textured stuff. :3
And using magic black for the shadows on the grass was brilliant!
To each her own.we must be kind even if we don't care for the dadadadadada.
Wow, Diane was great! The clouds are amazing. I love the ease and comfort with which she paints. And the messy palette--I completely relate to that! It's a lovely contrast to Bob's technique but an excellent demonstration of how different techniques can produce amazing paintings!
I love the noises and singing this lady makes. I can't stop smiling! This is so what I do when I paint. 😊
Everybody here claiming they appreciate, understand, or loved Bob and then treating this guest with such scorn and venom aren't really fans at all.
Well , i think that apart from us thumbing them down and reporting where appropriate , the channel owner itself could be a bit more active in removing hateful posts
There is no scorn or venom in people's posts, you oversensitive immature brat, its just a joke, because Diane is almost a direct constrast to Bob in these videos, because of her louder firm voice and the fact that, at one point, she seemed like she was stabbing the canvas, there is nothing wrong with making jokes, nobody is offending her personally, and people like you need to grow up.
i love to watch his guests, they bring new techniques in and that's awesome!
It's statements like this that grind my gears. I hate it when people say that others "aren't true fans." You are not the gate keeper.
I like her style and this one goes under my favourites. 💙
The moment she started GRINDING that fan brush into the canvas, I knew it was going to be a different episode! She is so wonderful.
I wish there was more of her videos. She is a very talented artist. Thank you for uploading.
Agreed. It’s excellent work.
I really enjoy the guest painters Bob has on. This woman is a wonderful artist.
I love all the guests Bob Ross had, they're all just so amazing and talented in their own ways. This painting is so beautiful!
I love this guest artist! Knows her stuff, calming voice (LOVING the 'duh duh duh duh') ...........I could watch her all day! :)
It must be difficult to paint and talk at the same time. Kudos to Bob and Diane. Her clouds are beautiful.
I was bit skeptical at first, but the time she did the sky and it turned out AMAZING I was already sold.
This is probably my favorite episode I have watched thus far. She is having a blast and it looks awesome. I am feeling inspired
I really enjoy watching your mother paint. She was such an awesome painter and I'm sure a great teacher. I love her art!!!
bob ross was in the military because his voice made the enemy fall asleep
Me too it makes me fall asleep too it always has
ASMR
I don’t think he did actual combat since he was enlisted in the medic. Or at least what’s what I deduce from his career section on Wiki
Pretty sure they were wide awake from his shouting, he vowed to never shout again once he left the military.
😆😆😆😆😆 👍👍👍👍👍 😁😁😁😁😁
I LOVE HOW SHE BROUGHT FLORAL COLORS INTO THIS LANDSCAPE. Man she is great. AWESOME.
shes my favorite bob guest so far.
She is an incredible and patient teacher as well as being very talented. I believe I’ve seen her with Bill Alexander as well. Wonderful.
So many people are being so rude about this woman :-( Along with Ben Stahl, she's one of the best guests that have been on The Joy of Painting
Mike Frett Easy there, champ. You seem on edge. Has life got you in a rut? Try some ASMR videos and relax.
Mike Frett You're just mad your ass cheeks don't shiver and thrill at the sound of her voice
yeah, I really like her painting and also the lady that paints the circular saw
Mike Frett, thats just kind of mean just in the other direction now.
Oh I am loving this woman. She’s awesome. ❤
the best part is that bob would be disgusted with all the comments people leave about this poor woman xD
never.
+i hate video gams these are all happy litle acci-comments :)
nah he would probably be pretty disgusted but u guys dont care xD
yes you are right :) she is in fact a very good painter and standing in the shadow of Bob's afro is a hell of a task ;)
Completely agree. 😒
SAD.
No one gets to watch someone from heaven.. ones you leave this world. There's a next life waiting you.. and 3rd one
still watching 2023 very calming and beauiful
Her sky is so pretty 🤩
She had her moments when she was beating the devil out of the brushes directly on the canvas... But the result is beautiful and her singing along was nice and playful. I bed she was nervous as everyone would be who is not normally painting infront of camera. I enjoyed her. God bless her soul
Her colour mixings are really amazing. And she has very detailed knowledge of tones in painting.
Of course we love Bob Ross, but it's always refreshing having a guest come on to a show going on for years and looking it at their work. She's one of my favorites on here.
Love this! She painted a place where I want to be.
I love her singing and growling. Very sweet and warm.
Dianne is great. And teaches more like William Alexander. Fire 🔥 it in. She gives lots of info on technique 👌🏻👏🏻😎
She was such a great artist. Many salutations for a wonderful talent gone too soon. We miss you....
Going through these videos in chronological order, i always feel like skipping the guest painter episodes.
But Bob was the man, he chose them for a reason, and the guests grow on you halfway through the video. Her da da da's won me over.
I watch them to help me fall asleep, so the guest episodes don't work as well in that respect, but I still enjoy them!
I would have watched her series ..amazing talent and love how she's so relaxes with her approach to exploring color ❤🎯
"I will be back in a minute"
Bob why are you lying 😢
he's so calm and relaxed his minute is 25 minutes... and they weren't even happy little minutes lol
+nini I know! :( :(
+nini Tell you the truth i hate this video ALOT
Alan McPhearson tell me what have you done in your miserable life??
nini 😂
I loved the pic she painted. She made it look so easy. Sorry to hear of her passing. Lots of hugs sent your way.
That painting looks fantastic. Good style.
This woman is absoulty stunning! So talented and very inspiring very lucky to have her in the show... Thank you so much!
Omg just because it's not Bob Ross doesn't mean people have to talk shit, if you don't want to see her go watch the hundreds of Bob Ross videos
+Tina Yang I personally liked her. She's as good an artist as he is!
DemonKnight 124 yeah, let's talk shit just because it isn't Bob, it's absolutely funny and you can go fuck yourself if you don't think so
Wow Yang! Don't get bent b_ _ _ _! Chill and take a nap! All is good... Freedom of speech is a b_ _ _ _! Can't drag folks out back to a firing squad just because they make you mad. So b_ _ _ _ take it easy. Peace.
@Taimoor Khan ok you are getting annoying as fuck. Chill you get to have an opinion. THEY have an opinion be quiet.
Some people are like seagulls, they eat shit & squawk. They probably would not know which end of the brush to use.
She is amazingly talented. Look how fast she is. She’s fantastic.
While Bob has a more soothing tone of voice, I still enjoyed listening to her. She's kinda jazzy, kinda sassy. And the painting is beautiful.
That painting looks beautiful! I feel like I can walk right into it. Lovely scenery; Absolute bliss.
It was a joy watching Diane Andre paint.
this is my favorite painting so far!!
I absolutely love her choice of colors!!!! I may have to try this one! She did wonderful!
She only smirked when Bob said he would 'cut her loose' - she knows she's as good as Bob if not better. She certainly gives more detail on tool technique than Bob which is very helpful. Wonderful painting and done in her own style, whilst using the technique.
He said, “turn her loose” as in let her show what she can do.
