That torque sequence for the heads is way better than the other way. You can also use ARP torque specs

Thanks for all the great information! i have a 2011 outback limited and i am about to do my HG replacement, but i don't know what EJ25 exact model is, and i don't know where to look for this information... My other interrogation is: what replacement HG should i install? i have read that the OEM gaskets won't last, and have read bad things about FelPro... What would be a good suggestion for other brands? Should i re-use the same head bolts? Thanks for any information!

Felpro is the only ones I use they have a blue coating on them. Definitely don’t use oem and I’ve always used the same head bolts. Advance or auto zone or Napa can bring up the info for the head gaskets. Just to make you feel a little better I’ve been working on just Subaru’s for 23 years. You’re welcome. You need any more info just give me a yell

ONLY use the white plastic pad that Subaru recommends. NEVER use the green!

For beginners I guess that will work but as long as I been doing this I’ve never heard of a white plastic pad. Must be new. Like advance and other stores recommending new head bolts to make more money. They was never recommended before but I’m old too and times change.
