I feel like actually he was more of a Trickster god than we think but that just didn't connect to being evil at all. He would pull pranks all the time but also help the other gods out when needed/asked.

I always assumed he had Asgardian features despite being a Frost Giant is cause he can change his form and was raised in Asgard, naturally he would want to blend in so he would give himself "Natural" features to hide his Frost Giant lineage. There's a lot of stuff different. In myth Loki is named Laufeyson after his mom Laufey. SHe was a goddess while his dad was a giant. She outrank him. Norse cultures had gender equality. But when they made the marvel version they made Laufey male, because you can't be named after your mom and you have to pass on your dad's name. In mythology Loki is a complex character that calls out the other gods when they do wrong (Thor killing a family, Odin ignoring morality), but Marvel Loki was just a cliche evil magic man. I would say zero imagination, but you genuinely have to try to ruin a character like that I really wish Stan Lee and Kirby didn't just make random changes, now many people think marvel's versions are mythologically accurate :( Taking a foreign culture and making comics and action figures out of it for the lolz is pretty gross.
I think it might be interesting to see on another Earth, maybe. I personally like the change from uncle to brother because a god of mischief probably works best if he's considered one of the younger characters. If Thor's the protagonist, then de-aging the mischief god to the same generation seems like the right move. Besides, I like their sibling relationship.
