I believe if you cut the rails after the finish line and short the left and right rails from each lane, you’ll get dynamic braking.

I believe you're correct, and this would shorten the distance needed as well. The setup I did has been working for us with no issues as well

How does the red light work? If you are already over the sensor?
Also is the tree always that quick?

It detects if you move off the sensor too soon and triggers the red light. Yes, it's always that fast. Sadly, the company is out of business

I choose bent leads so the wire can lay flat under the track and the eyes are pre bent 90 degress to popup through the hole you drill.
