- Hey there, DIY enthusiasts! Today, we're diving into the world of concrete countertops and the exciting journey of polishing them.
Polishing a concrete countertop is a two-step process. The first step is to grind the surface using different diamond grit screens. This process not only helps flatten the surface but also removes any imperfections, making it smooth and ready for polishing.
The second step involves using progressive diamond impregnated pads to polish the surface. These pads come in varying grits, starting from coarse to ultra-fine, allowing you to achieve a high-gloss finish. The polishing process is both challenging and rewarding, as you can observe the progress of your work with each pad change.
So there you have it! Polishing a concrete countertop may seem daunting at first, but with patience and practice, you can create a stunning surface that will beautify your home for years to come. Thanks for joining me today on this journey!

That’s a sick looking kitchen & counter top mate! Good to see the videos back.
The Americans I’ve seen are the best in the world at working concrete, most are Mexicans and they’re next level. Check out Habitar Landscape from San Diego 👌🏼 unbelievable
Cheers matt glad to be active again doing something worthy again it’s been a while and as for that channel yeh just had a look and yeh the Mexicans are great workers and I witness it first hand when I lived in Cali there’re a nice bunch of people used to bring me in home made tacos mmm 😋
Hi Scot great video hope your well and have plenty of work on x
Yeh it’s been a slow start up as still recovering from the operation hopefully more to come 👍🏴
@@tidybrickslandscaping top man keep positive x
I’ve seen it were they put glass bits in the top layer and it looks the nuts when you polish it down
Seen the same videos looks like 👍 this wasn’t supposed to come out till tomorrow because I just put out a bespoke concrete pillar cap that’s got glass in it 👍🏴
Good to see you doing bits scotty. Up the @tinydicks
Looks the absolute nuts mate, love the finish, great work
Glad you like it I want to do another one asap 👍🏴
Cracking Finish 👍
More to come on this job 👍🏴
Great finish fair play
Does look the biz 👍🏴
Mate, timing, just done an 8'x4' garden workbench top, same as yourself, 2 1/2'' thick concrete with rebar, did put the fiberglass reinforcing in the mix around the outside edge where the rebar stops and there is a bit of an overhang, finished with a pour of self leveling, gets a glitter stencil in a wet slurry tomo. That counter top looks nice, not flip flop resin and wobbly plastic mesh.
Bollocks to plastic mesh crap 😜 actually enjoyed doing it too 👍🏴
I was locked into this video tidy. Are we going to be treated with casting the concrete part ? How would you approach it differently next time?
Actually my next one online will be all the stuttering also start to finish 👍🏴
Tidy 🏴 💪🏻
That’s the job I’ve been hiding for a while I’ve broken it into segments so plenty more to come 👍🏴
Looks the dogs Scott and nice to do something different with less stress I bet mate 👍
Loads less stress and actually fun too do 👍🏴
The polishing disc are usually designed to be run under 5500 rpm, that grinder you have is what 9-10 thousand. The actual wet polishing grinder has a constant flow of water. You are simply just grinding the concrete. There isn’t an American actual contractor pouring concrete countertops using whatever you are talking about. TikTok isn’t real life or informational.
Have you seen Habitar from San Diego, those boys are unbelievable concrete workers. Best I’ve seen
I think I’ll have a look into getting a new grinding system for the next one 👍🏴
Yeh just watched some of them now very skilled the Mexicans guys are 👍🏴
What can you use to seal the surface ? Are you local to mac ? Im sandbach .. I’ll tap up pulvex for pads .
Totally forgot the seal the customer used something with 30 in it good for food a bacterial type sealer 👍🏴 I’m in Cardiff and yeh ask Phil for the pads 👍🏴
Great timing, about to shutter and pour concrete worktops next weekend. May I ask the concrete mix you used? Assume 321 but what size was the aggregate?
Great honest video!
I’ve got the shutter video to go up next before next weekend for sure I’ll show you how I did it keep a eye out for it 👍🏴
@@tidybrickslandscapinggreat stuff, need to order materials tomorrow, coming from mkm Cardiff. May I ask what shutter material you used? Marine ply or melamine board?
Just watched some of your other videos. Absolutely brilliant
@@DanielBrain-gp1lz 421 was the mix from Travis I used and yeh some melamine boards from Selco.
I screwed some 9x2 to the underside of the wall then screwed the melamine to that 100mm above the 9x2 so it had plenty of screws speeding the weight. Did have slight issue with the melamine bowing slightly with the pressure
Hope that helps 👍🏴
@@DanielBrain-gp1lz if your in Cardiff I could make a visit before you start ? 👍🏴
@@tidybrickslandscaping thanks very much. Look forward to seeing the video. 👍👍
Scot speed rate to quick for those pads mate
It’s been a learning curve so far so hopefully I’ll nail it down on my next one 👍🏴
Could could Americans be doing the countertops which are made of resin
Dunno but so,e of them just don’t look right and they say concrete countertop but they ain’t 👍🏴
not only not bothering with a dust mask but smoking a tab whilst grinding,
you're a legend, 100%
but you'll be dead soon.
Good time for a smoko double bubble 😝👍🏴
You look a disater waiting to happen!!! 240 volts mixed with water??? omg get battery power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Living life to the max no fears 😂👍🏴
That looked rubbish, obviously no idea what you are doing. I lived in Switzerland where they used polished concrete as a finish for interior of large buildings. This looks like a bodge job to me.
Ohh that sounds a bit harsh admittedly it’s my first one and have learned a lot from the comments on certain things which I’ve taken on board for the next one but I wouldn’t say it’s a bridge job I think it same out really well 👍🏴
@@tidybrickslandscaping That commenter is just being a mirror to your own harsh opinions.
@@justinmadair just noticed some spelling mistakes by me oops and yeh it’s a free world say what you like I’m not offended I’m just happy to oblige lol 👍🏴
