My god, can't believe it!my favorite review site mobiletechreview way back since nokia communicators were in existence!sorry Lisa, but I had stopped visiting your site long time back because the reviews were coming in too late..however,i really do appreciate your teams efforts in reviewing any gadget on your site with in-depth analysis..nice to see you guys back again:)
The red, yellow and white ones are glossy and do look plastic, but not in a cheap way. It's almost like a gloss auto finish-- looks chic not cheap. Black and cyan are matte, which look really interesting (same as the Lumia 900 finish if you've seen that).
Omg Lisa, a few days ago I was activating my iPhone and you were my operator! It's was so cool! My mom was on the phone and I recognized your voice and I started to freak out!:) but I love your reviews!:) keep up the good work!:)
Multi-tasking has been around since WP 7.5, so I didn't really think of it as a new feature. Apps running in the background don't degrade performance, but the OS is also likely to kill apps when resources get low.
I have the Lumia 900 as well and the 920 is thicker at its thickest point. Yes, the ppi is 5ppi higher than the iPhone 5, correction bubble deployed :)
I am new to this telephone and have had it for about five days now. This was a good introduction to the device and I now have a better understanding of how to use it. I am a long time Iphone user, so this was a big change for me. However, it is user friendly and I now anticipate I will enjoy it more as I get more familiar with it.
Yes, this phone, and the Windows Phone platform in general, hosts FM Radio. You can find the FM option under 'Music' but you will have to plug in your headphones to get reception. The phone uses your headphones as an antenna.
AWESOME review Lisa!!! Very informative!...It was nice to see a reviewer actually USE the phone during the review!...LOVE the Buena Vista Social Club music during music review. Approx 7 months have passed since ur review, would like to know if U still recommend the Lumia 920???...I'm currently using an iPhone4 & want to upgrade, but want to know if Lumia 920 is a better phone & OS than iPhone5... Many THX again for ur review!!!
Not the best review you've done on a phone Lisa but I still love your reviews. You and Aaron from phonedog are the only ones I watch for phone reviews.
Been waiting for this review for a awhile. I'm currently using a Windows Mobile 6.5 and love it but have been waiting for Windows Phone 8. Went to AT&T to see the Lumia 920 and the HTC 8X. While both phones are nice I have to say I like the look and the feel of the HTC 8X. Over all nothing about the phone jumps at me but I think I'm just used to the interface of my Touch Pro 2. Good review and I hope Windows Phone does take off. When will you be doing a 8X review?
One nice change from the 900 design (and 800/N9 as well) is that the MicroUSB port is on the bottom edge of the device now - works better with a variety of after market auto mounts, etc.
I have had my Lumia 920 for a month now and I am very happy with it. I only have a few complaints - No separate volume control for the ringer; unable to set a home page on Internet Explorer; the phone tends to get a little hot when playing games; and finally as an international user a lot of the apps (including Nokia exclusive apps) are not available. Overall I am still happy with this phone and would recommend it highly.
Nokia thought the Android playing field was already very crowded and it would be hard for them to differentiate, so they went with the relatively new and uncluttered Windows Phone space. I would love to see them make Android handsets though!
A few questions: 1) Do the apps continue running in the background like how the iOS/Android phones are? if yes, how do we shut them down, Effectively. 2) For the default search engine when we press the "Search" button, can we change it to use Google instead? 3) Would you mind showing us the wireless charging function?
You are missing out. I got the 920 with HIGH expectations and the Lumia still exceeded them. I bought this phone for $550 off of the contract so it definitely hit my bank account as I am still a student. I can tell you that it was well worth it. Every person that I have showed my phone to has loved it! I don't know what kind of office you work at, but I am sure it's a nice group of ignorant people. I have had an Iphone and a fair share of Androids. I just love how the 920 is a great fresh start.
Hi Lisa, not that im complaining about how long the vid is, but can you put a timeline for your next reviews? Sometimes I already know something about the phone and I want to watch particulars that I don't have idea with. Like display 1:30, camera 5:00, battery 12:00 or verdict 19:00 etc. thanks.
The ability to uninstall any application is extremly attractive. No quite ready to upgrade from my Andriod yet but MS's software is becoming more appealing. I have to say the black of the screen blends right into the black of the phone. All around fairly impressive phone.
does your phone, or review unit etc...have the give on the top? Mine does, and the rep at ATT had it too...still wondering if I should exchange it...the OCD doesn't help haha. It gives and makes a poping sound almost when I press near the headphone jack. Also a speck or two of dust under the FF, don't know if it was always there. Do you have any of these issues Lisa? To everyone else, do not let this deter you from getting the 920! Best phone I have ever had! I absolutely love it!
You know something...this phone is awesome! Not only does the hardware look great, but OS looks delicious! Proud Galaxy S3 owner running CM10, but I would love to have a go at the bad boy.
Great review. I have a Google Nexus 4 (which I really like), but I want something really different. Happy to say that Skype is now available on Windows phone 8..which finally led me to the decision to buy the phone today. But this detailed review really helped me narrow my decision down. I looked at Blackberry Z10, Xperia Z, Galaxy S4, and iPhone 5. The Nokia Lumia 920 was really the only unique phone that ticked all the boxes for me. Thanks for the great review. :)
Hi Atif A. In what way is the N920 complicated? Did you find it both ergonomically and software-use problematic? I have, primarily, always used the Nokia Data-Phone series principally for the Nokia mapping service which, thus far, I have found uniquely accurate (even with the architerctural density of London). Does the I-Phone Google maps reflect accuracy with vocal directional instructions too? Is the mapping service free to use also? I shall be grateful for your kind advice. Thanks. RMB
Yes, I am waiting for it, I had the Lumia 900 & didn't have Instagram, I was wondering if they'd have it on this one, but I guess not, but I love the size, style& camera on the phone so much.
you missed one really important feature - customized lock screen with configurable selective information content to be displayed! this particularly has impressed me quite a lot - i have lumia 800 and the option of seeing a new picture every time i unlock my phone is kinda cool. ppi higher than iphone 5; low light photos - you should've covered that in detail (its like the phones USP) - kids corner not particularly interested in that. great review none the less!
would you recommend the nokia lumia 920 or htc 8x? ive been having the most difficult time deciding which one to get. i personally want to try the lumia 920 due to the endless good reviews, but i feel its size and weight really hinders my decision.
Lisa does some of the most comprehensive and detailed reviews on the net...if you want entertainment...go watch the Verge! lol. I prefer her...she goes into amazing detail of things you'd find on your own after a time with the device that would either annoy or amaze you - helpful to know some of these things before purchasing :)
I own the white one and I have not experienced too many fingerprints. May also help because of the white color. I must say though, the main screen does not leave fingerprints. Unless, I have debris on my fingers or real greasy/oil fingers I do notice but if your fingers are clean there are no residue of fingerprints on the screen. Loving that so much! Was tired of constantly cleaning my screen.
when the PPI gets pretty high you can't see the pixels, so it doesnt really matter from that point, after that, colour accuracy & viewable angles & contrast are more important. on new IPS screens they all look great
After watching the whole review, I've got to give big ups for a pretty good objective review, there was just a couple of blunders. BTW the camera strip, the power, volume and camera buttons are made of ceramic, which means they are scratch resistant, which is pretty nice.
It's not about the maps. The display of the phone is congested ( the main screen) . The icons are flying here and there , it's too much animated , the OS too ! . In iphone you can use maps for free yes ! I have no idea about London ... you need to check from the service providers.
You say in the video that it has a lower pixel density than the iphone 5, but from what I've read everywhere else it is higher and the camera is the best camera on current generation phones?
I recent picked up a Lumia 920 and it's a great device! Easily better than the Android phone I traded it in for. The only disappointment so far is the lack of a Wells Fargo banking app. But that's not much to dwell on.
Hey Lisa, it seems Windows Phone 8 now supports MicroSD without needing to reformat it as it was the case with WP7, also you can drag and drop files to it without using zune an use your phone as a USB Storage Device, also now it can take screenshots and copy-paste numbers on the phone dialer.
Just because a phone reviewer omits a few features of a phone does not make it acceptable behavior to automatically question their integrity. This sort of causal, arrogant disrespect is directly akin to accusing a fast food worker of being secretly paid by vegetarians when they accidently leave out the extra beef patty from your double burger. Lisa Gade is one of the most professional, detailed and hardworking tech reviewers on RUclips.
I saw this phone at the shop... its really amazing. Touch is same as iphone .. what nokia needs is an app store with huge collection... dats it.. this phone can really rock in the market...
Hi Lisa, I`m a BIG Nokia fan, due for an upgrade from my N8 next month (UK) would like to go for a Lumina, 820 or 920, but i am quite interested in the Galaxy SIII, what do you think please?
I'm on the small hand side of the spectrum, how hard is this device to hold? It also seems a bit bulky to put inside dress pants. I wish they had all nokia internals in HTC 8x package, that phone seems a bit better to hold with a narrower/longer footprint.
The battery has easily lasted me all day on a charge with moderate use. I suspect that background multi-tasking is tanking battery life for some folks. Use the back button to exit heavy apps like games and Nokia Drive rather than using the home button if you're having battery life issues. Also reboot and see if that helps :)
It's actually got a higher ppi screen :D 332ppi compare to 326 on the iPhone 5. But it's not that big of a deal if what Apple says is true about not seeing pixels after 326ppi.
Is there a way to go through the applications the same way as in iOS or android (i.e. horizontally instead of vertically) ? Thank you for the great review.
Hi EpikPulse. You make a great comment as regards the 920. I have always used the Nokia series given the GPS mapping system which, thus far, I've found truly accurate in comparison to others. I have a 610 model at present, and yet, sadly, I find the mapping (pedestrian/city mode) far more 'complicated in terms of directional voice male activation et al. In mapping terms, how does the 920 compare in terms of ease of use? I shall be grateful for your kind advice. Best wishes. RMB.
well thanks for reviewing this phone..the thing that holds me from buying the phone is few apps i care about..official twitter app, facebook and instagram..the twitter app in WP8 isnt official. and there is no instagram app. But i feel like in the next few month we might see something. Do u advice waiting for the next gen WP8 and just buy an iPhone 5 or buy the Lumia 920 ??
almost every review on the net is mentioning about the weight. I saw you handling the phone with one hand for most of the review. Have you encountered strain? or the weight is tolerable? thanks :D
Unfortunately I can't afford to change my phone every year. When is that 7.8 update coming out? It better have most of the features on WP8 for making us wait so long.
This the best Lumia 920 review I've come accross so far . . very thorough and objective. Great Job
i only search up for your reviews whenever i want to know about a smartphone! KUDOS to you, Lisa! you are a great reviewer :)
The 920 review is finally here! thank you for that!
Lisa is the most trusted reviewer on youtube. She actually uses all the platforms and not married to one OS. She's top notch.
Lisa gives the fairest and most accurate reviews on the net, great job keep it up.
Actually we did mention wireless charging. We couldn't show the charging matte since AT&T didn't have them in the store for purchase.
Your reviews are a great watch. No bullshit, no mumbling, no shaky camera work. Keep it up!
Nostalgia brought me here.. I remember viewing this review in 2013-14
Finaly it's here! Been waiting this review
Yes, we have the Lumia 822 in house and will review it along with the Lumia 810. And the HTC 8X too!
Multi-tasking has been around since WP 7.5, so I didn't really think of it as a new feature. Apps running in the background don't degrade performance, but the OS is also likely to kill apps when resources get low.
Glad that edit was added about the display and the iPhone Retina Display
I have the Lumia 900 as well and the 920 is thicker at its thickest point. Yes, the ppi is 5ppi higher than the iPhone 5, correction bubble deployed :)
I am new to this telephone and have had it for about five days now. This was a good introduction to the device and I now have a better understanding of how to use it. About time been waiting for this review
It's really great to finally see an honest review of this phone. As always, thanks Lisa!
Lisa, you're the best reviewer, heads and shoulders above the competition. Keep up the good work!
the way you explain everything makes sense to me i can always a the write choice with you reviews
Yes, this phone, and the Windows Phone platform in general, hosts FM Radio. You can find the FM option under 'Music' but you will have to plug in your headphones to get reception. The phone uses your headphones as an antenna.
You kept me entertained the whole time and this is a review! Great review by the way!
AWESOME review Lisa!!! Very informative!...It was nice to see a reviewer actually USE the phone during the review!...LOVE the Buena Vista Social Club music during music review. Not the best review you've done on a phone Lisa but I still love your reviews. You and Aaron from phonedog are the only ones I watch for phone reviews.
Everyone I know who've used it have absolutely loved it. I'm thinking of making the switch when my contract's up.
Yes, Google Play music has no copy protection so you can download it to your computer and transfer it to the Nokia over USB.
I love this phone got it Friday and haven't missed Android or IOS at all. Everything just seems fresh and seems to work when I want it to.
Hey Liza awesome review as always, is this phone sold unlocked off contract from AT&T?
Lisa i love your reviews, they usually are very accurate with specifications but this one just dropped the ball
Been waiting for this review for a awhile. I'm currently using a Windows Mobile 6.5 and love it but have been waiting for Windows Phone 8. Went to AT&T to see the Lumia 920 and the HTC 8X. I always/only rely/depend on mobiletechreview when buying a new phone! Lisa's great!! I'd like to see a review on the cat soon.
Thanks Lisa! Been looking forward to this one.

Great Job! Most Comprehensive and unbiased reviews.
Thanks, fever was finally gone today. That means I'll make even more sense in our next video review ;)
Nokia thought the Android playing field was already very crowded and it would be hard for them to differentiate, so they went with the relatively new and uncluttered Windows Phone space. I would love to see them make Android handsets though!
'We're going to look at it now' I do love your little catchphrase. as usual faultless review guys, I'm hoping you get the Nexus 4 in for review!!
A few questions:
1) Do the apps continue running in the background like how the iOS/Android phones are? if yes, how do we shut them down, Effectively.
2) For the default search engine when we press the "Search" button, can we change it to use Google instead?

Hi Lisa, if I may ask you. What phone are you using? I wonder what phone you're using. Hope you reply. Thanks for great reviews.
RUclips does not allow reposts. You can only delete and completely remove videos.
Favorite phone and os ever! Miss you Lumia, miss you everyday!
Hi Lisa, not that im complaining about how long the vid is, but can you put a timeline for your next reviews? Sometimes I already know something about the phone and I want to watch particulars that I don't have idea with. Like display 1:30, camera 5:00, battery 12:00 or verdict 19:00 etc. thanks.
I'm pretty sure it's gonna go up again, this phone simply rocks.
Hi, what is the best camera phone to you?
Thank you and nice review!
The ability to uninstall any application is extremly attractive. No quite ready to upgrade from my Andriod yet but MS's software is becoming more appealing. I have to say the black of the screen blends right into the black of the phone. All around fairly impressive phone.
The red color goes really well with you Lisa. :)

No, all AT&T phones are sold locked. All 4 big carriers lock their phones.

i just bought one of these last night :) cant wait for it to come
i for one think she did a great job of reviewing this phone, i want it and might get it very soon
yes, i asked att cust care, tthey said u have to choose plan online just for checkout process, once u buy it u can use any sim card
Very good reviews on all these cool new gadgets. Thank you!

How is the battery life? There are mixed reviews about it? Can you tell me how much time your averaging?
Yes, I am waiting for it, I had the Lumia 900 & didn't have Instagram, I was wondering if they'd have it on this one, but I guess not, but I love the size, style& camera on the phone so much.
I've got the Lumia 800, I would love to upgrade to this!
you missed one really important feature - customized lock screen with configurable selective information content to be displayed! this particularly has impressed me quite a lot - i have lumia 800 and the option of seeing a new picture every time i unlock my phone is kinda cool.

I ordered the yellow Lumia 920 on the 9th and it hasn't shipped yet. And I'm a premier customer!!!
It's not about the maps. The display of the phone is congested ( the main screen) . The icons are flying here and there , it's too much animated , the OS too ! .
In iphone you can use maps for free yes ! I have no idea about London ... you need to check from the service providers.
At&t version works only with At&t's SIM. You have to buy SIM-free version if you want it to work with any SIM.

What about the super sensitive touchscreen, being able to control it with your gloves in the winter is in my opinion a killer feature.
I saw this phone at the shop... its really amazing. Touch is same as iphone .. what nokia needs is an app store with huge collection... dats it.. this phone can really rock in the market...
How can you say the screen is not sharp as the one on iPhone 5? 920's screen has 1280x768 pixel resolution on a 4.5 inch resulting in higher density.
Absolutely love the color. Finally something different.
Hi Lisa, I`m a BIG Nokia fan, due for an upgrade from my N8 next month (UK) would like to go for a Lumina, 820 or 920, but i am quite interested in the Galaxy SIII, what do you think please?

Yep, check out AT&T's website.
It's actually got a higher ppi screen :D 332ppi compare to 326 on the iPhone 5. But it's not that big of a deal if what Apple says is true about not seeing pixels after 326ppi.
Correction...The iPhone 5 has a 326ppi and the 920 has a 332ppi.
I hope AT&T can let me have this one with a new contract cause im not up for an upgrade till next November.
The yellow coloured version is really vivid. Almost hurts-your-eyes vivid. Hoping they get the random battery drain bug fixed.
RMB.
a little correction sir *ios DOESNT run a program in the backround it only pauses the program, just saying.
well thanks for reviewing this phone..the thing that holds me from buying the phone is few apps i care about..official twitter app, facebook and instagram..the twitter app in WP8 isnt official. and there is no instagram app. But i feel like in the next few month we might see something. Do u advice waiting for the next gen WP8 and just buy an iPhone 5 or buy the Lumia 920 ??
Great review! I love the design of this phone.
It matches my car :) But the yellow is also really lovely and good old cyan is so classy and less slippery. Hard choice!
Yellow seems to be the hardest to get. I don't think a single one made to any of my local Dallas AT&T stores.
Nokia lumia 920 looks absolutely amazing. I'm an iPhone user but i really like the new windows phone 8.
Great review. I am loving my 920.
almost every review on the net is mentioning about the weight. I saw you handling the phone with one hand for most of the review. Have you encountered strain? or the weight is tolerable? thanks :D
I believe you can download the "I Heart Radio" app, which will let you stream FM stations as long as you have a wifi or data connection.
Unfortunately I can't afford to change my phone every year. When is that 7.8 update coming out? It better have most of the features on WP8 for making us wait so long.
