@@mosyouszayou89 It wasn't a stupid move, windows phone os was far ahead of its time and i still prefer it to even modern apple and android bar the lack of modern features. If Microsoft hadn't placed so many restrictions of manufactures who wanted to produce phones with their os then windows could of competed with android for market share and therefore seen an influx of developer support for the app store which is what ultimately killed windows phone. The big mistake was made by microsoft not Nokia who made incredible phones built for the os and could have taken over the market had its store gotten proper support.

@@mosyouszayou89 Wrong. Nokia mobile division was a dying department of Nokia Telcom. While the rest of the world at that time was moving towards smartphones, Nokia stayed behind and still releasing feature phones/cellphones. Year after year, they were loosing money. Windows offered a deal they couldnt resist. For dying department, it was godsend offer. Nokia made a bargain but unfortunately, it simply didnt pay off.

I am so sad that Windows phones didn't keep up to the legacy of 1520. I have owned multiple flagship phones, but Lumia 1520 is my all time favorite smartphone. I recently tried Lumia 950 XL; I didn't like it that much and switched back to iPhone.

stonerdemon Lumia 930 (icon in the US) and Lumia 1520 are equally the most powerful Nokia phones. Both have the same specs except 1520 is much bigger. I think a bigger Windows phone looks much better. So, I would still go for 1520. So yes, 1520 and and 930 are the most powerful Nokia phones.

Honestly, I'm not obsessed with hardware, and hardware does not always guarantee performance. It seems to me that the Nokia phones perform very well, besides their hardware specs. Being that said (and the fact that I don't play games on my phones), would you prefer a 1520 ($300 unlocked) over a Oneplus 3? I know it sounds absurd, but if performance is good on the 1520, I don't have any problem about buying a 2013 phone.

    • @Changizkhan
      @Changizkhan 8 лет назад

stonerdemon good choice! 1520 flies on Windows OS, and it is a great choice. I am very invested in Apple ecosystem, and Google photos, Drive and few other apps that I use on daily basis, that's why I am using an iPhone. Otherwise, I would gladly still use a 1520.

My phone "was" a Razr XT910 but I just changed my plan to a more modern 4G one without knowing this phone didn't support it (only HSPA). So, my phone is now useless and my girlfriend handed me her old Nokia Lumia 635 a couple days ago. I just fell in love with the OS. Just 512mb but everything runs so smoothly!! At first I wanted to upgrade to the Sony X Performance, then I discovered the Oneplus 3 some days ago. But again, it's not about hardware, but OS optimization. And it seems the 1520 runs smooth as butter with only 2Gb of RAM. And it's just $300 unlocked!! I'll buy it! Thanks a lot, man!

Here I am in 2k19 using Android but was a great fan of windows phone when I was in my school days 8 years back,I really wanted to see a 3rd OS in market that compets with iOS n Android ,sadly they discontinued it,Windows mobiles OS had great nifty feature and there were many features that were way ahead of it's time.I really feel sad that they have to discontinue it due to lack of 3rd party support .I feel like people didn't let it grow they were selfishly loved the Android n iOS.
It's now a history or we can say -The biggest Microsoft and Nokia failure which could have been a great masterpiece, they offered the best hardware at that time n the best camera.
I really wanna see a windows phone comeback someday , somehow somewhere any magic happens and boom a 3rd competitor in OS markets.😔I want them to return.

It was a far more unique and in my opinion better designed os as well, i was also in my school days at the time and saved up for the cheapest lumia model as my first smartphone. Still to this day i miss the tile format and its customization but i do remember how frustrating it was not being able to get a lot of the apps people were using at the time.

I've been waiting for this one for a long time! The 6 inch phablet that briefly tempted me away from Android. Briefly. I still can't get passed Windows' software and their limited app store. Once Windows phone OS has matured a little more, I may reconsider.

I got this as suggestion in November 2022.
I remember I owned a Nokia lumia 820 back in my college days and i loved it. Sadly it fell on me and it died and due to lack of popularity no technical, support was able to adequately fix it. So I was forced to buy a new phone and it was the iPhone SE first gen.
This video took me back and i felt so nostalgic

elmonarcoful So how's the performance today in 2015? A lot of people consider the Snapdragon 801 to be a "bit outdated," curious how the 800 is holding up.
Of course Android runs beefier widgets and all that jazz, Windows Phone is a little simpler and smoother so I don't think you need to go balls out on RAM/CPU but please let me know since this phone is over a year old.

      Leonardo Daniels
I have it for a year now and it's an amazing device.
It easily replaces small tablets, because it has a lot to offer and Microsoft makes unique updates for each Lumia. This process takes a while but it benefits the phones in the long run.
I bought it when it was still running Windows Phone 8 but now I got 8.1 and the denim update is coming very soon here in Belgium.
I have had no issues with the phone at all, not once did I have to call support services or take it back to the store.
Its great for gaming too although I prefer to game on my PC. Some pokemon games have been emulated to work on it so if you find them in the store try them out for a dose of nostalgia. Almost all of the most popular apps are available now. And if the official version isn't that good there's always a third party option that's sometimes better than the official one.
App support is great too for the most part, I have had talks with some very friendly developers.
If you think I sound a little bit like a fan it's because I am, Windows Phone has completely won me over after the terrible experiences I had with Android.
      I highly recommend this one!

elmonarcoful I've been wondering if I shod get the 830 or 1520. I can get them both for the same price on Amazon. I do like the 1520 more for various reasons but I heard it cracks extremely easy, like on first drops, even with cases sometimes, or in your pockets and when pressure changes (trains, planes, etc.) Is this true? I don't want to have to pay $200 for another screen when I could just get a new phone. People seem very disappointed with it from what I read.

1)built in 16gb (32gb international) plus external sd card support
2)built in wireless charging (international version)
    3)glance screen notification
4)ability to launch camera from stand by mode just by holding the camera button
    5)Nokia pro cam manual control
With that being said, it's overall a good impression review. Maybe somebody whose interested with the phone will dig out more information from other sources.

kayla_jasmine well, some games that are free on android cost 0,99 euros or something.
That's what I've noticed but other than that you should be able to find everything you need.
There's no official youtube app though (because google and microsoft are bitter rivals) but there are rlly good third party alternatives. mytube or metrotube are the 2 best IMHO.
