Estonia for me has send masterpieces and mastercraps. It is a confusing country one year they send amazing song and the next a bottom 5. But still one of my fave countries.

Even a mastercrap is masterful though

It is not specifically that the songs are crap (unless you count some of the disasters in the 00's), but generally the songs are good, just not anything special at Eurovision. But yes, just recently checked the Final results on Eurovision and Estonia either made it TOP10 or was near the bottom xD

We generally have small pool of songs to choose from to start with xD
the Kreisiraadio one was a troll, rest mastercraps were just bad.
And 80's coming back was just a prediction of Russia's future...

Haha, thank you for Estonia! :) So cool to see you react!
    Some answers as well:
Leto Svet was composed by the same composer who was the main author behind Estonia’s success in the late nineties (1996, 1997, 1999). Priit Pajusaar was also the composer of Tii (the shouting and the costumes were ethnic, just saying :D). He was so disappointed about developments on the Eurovision front (as compared to the late nineties) as true music and melodies did not seem to be at the core of Eurovision any more (matter of personal taste, of course); or maybe over Tii’s failure to qualify in 2004, that he decided to create the most random stupid troll entry to prove his point that such songs had now conquered Eurovision and would do well. It would probably never have qualified, hadn’t he invited an immensely, tremendously popular comedian trio to perform it and the general public went berserk. The rest is history, point not proven :D. After the initial embarrassment faded, we’re happy for the funny memory and able to laugh along with the comedy trio. You are right, it is random and stupid - but it exactly what it was meant to be :D. So sorry :D.
Now - how Estonia managed to send Rändajad after Leto Svet - very simple! Measures were taken after the long drought and Eesti Laul was created in 2009 - the fruits are there to reap for the past 10 ESC’s. Before Eesti Laul the national final was called Eurolaul, it had a different producer and it tried different formulas for choosing the winner :) I think Estonians were as shocked for the success of Rändajad, as we already so used to not qualifying. (Just like nobody in the country expected Everybody to ever do well :)).
And “No, thank you” in Estonian is “Ei, aitäh” :)
PS. I really love Siren :). Only Goodbye for yesterday tops it in my book, just because their performance was soooo goooood. Followed closely by Verona and la Forza :).

My Opinion about Estonia (from Greece) :
Estonia has sent good songs, but still Estonia has sent some bad songs like 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2010 and masterpieces like 2009, 2018, 2012, 2015 and 2002 and underrated songs like 2016, 2013, 2017 and 2007 ! Estonia is my winner in 2018 with Elina Nechayeva

Estonia sounds swedish because as soon as they got independence we started to go there by boat to tourist, and they got help from the nordic countries with money etc. The year they held ESC they got a lot of help from Swedish television with sending it. Some of them have very scandinavian sounding name. Estonia was thinking of using a nordic cross on their flag.

Maarja-Liis Ilus was 16 years old in that 1996 and 17 in the 1997 video ;) (when she applied with that 1996 song to eurovision, she was 16 and Eurovison board needed to make a big exception for her as only 18 and up are alowed)
Koit Toome in 1998 tho was 19 when performing in eurovision
    Eda-Ines Etti in 2000 was 19
No thank you = Tänan EI
Neiokõsõ was a mix of different old Estonian language(like mostly setõ but a bit southern Estonian and Saaremaa
dialectsts) and everyday clothes, but yes not a Eurovision song as many told them, not even close in stage presents needed for Eurovision and usually native languages does not do well, even more if it's not current, only English for Eurovision can bring good results (rarely other).
    To everyone to know,
Kreisiraadio is (about 30 years old) parody and comedy tv show and that song was completely made/written to mock Eurovision song contest itself and most Estonians agreed so we sent them to mock Eurovision song contest :D
Few of the next ones also as you will see xD
Yeah, Urban girls, 2 of them went to same music school i did, one is the best friend with my sister(also were in same string instruments band for long time), another is my 1st cousin who my sister how to play and the basics of string instruments, before she even started learning them.
But yeah we tried again with a real song and again got fracked so many Estonians just got really tired with Eurovision and kinda forgot/avoided it.
Tanja has no music education She was turned away saying she does not have a sense of sound so she went to learn dancing. Again as u see we do not care.
2017 hearing and seeing that song for the first time :D, no idea how did they do and no i know who was performing and with what song that year. (As i told most Estonians do not give a c*** about Eurovison anymore.)
2018 saw that first time few days ago in i think in one of Eurovision react videos, yeah something about crying because Estonian Eurovision song, also have no idea who and had not seen/heard that before(till just 3 days ago).

Leto Svet was ahead of its time. It was literally a meme. They used weird random topics and words to parody those countries, that really want to send an english song to eurovision, but don't really know how to write a song in english and just put random words there. Atleast that's how I understand it, feel free to correct me :D

You can tell that I love these videos! So now let's review Estonia:
1994: This is a great song! That's how you debut. Underrated
1996: I love this one! It's so cute
1997: This one is pretty nice but I don't like it as much as the previous two
1998: Really good! Much better than Verona
1999: Great entry! It feels really timeless to me
2000: A really catchy song! One of my favourites that year
2001: I like this song unlike most people, but I don't think it deserved to win. There were many better songs that year
2002: Pretty good but it gets boring
2003: I actually love this song way more than most people do. I don't know why but I really like it
2004: Well, the vocals... But I actually like the studio version a lot
2005: It's not bad, but... meh. And again disappointing vocals. I'm not a huge fan of Verona as you will see later but this one is worse
2006: I love this song for some reason. It's not original in any way but it's enjoyable
    2007: This is a pretty mediocre song. I don't love it, I don't dislike it. It's alright
2008: I usually love troll/fun entries but this one even seems annoying to ME (that means a lot)
2009: Indeed a masterpiece. My 2nd place that year. It's a really beautiful song and I would love them to send something like this again!
2010: I wish I loved this way more. It's a really good song but I can't make myself fall in love with it
2011: Really catchy! I like it
2012: This is an amazing song and again I wish I liked it a bit more, but I still have it in my top 20
2013: This is so cute! I love it
2014: I like this one but it's not as goood as the others
2015: Such a great song! They totally deserved that result
2016: It definitely didn't deserve that last place but that performance was pretty disappointing and I don't like this song as much as most fans
2017: It's not a bad song but it's just mediocre to me
2018: She's an amazing singer but I got bored of the song really quickly. She deserved her good result though
I actually didn't realise that I liked Estonia that much at Eurovision. They sent some really good entries! Eesti Laul is actually one of my favourite national finals every year and I hope they'll keep using it for a very long time! 🇪🇪❤

As much as I wanted Elina to win Eesti Laul, the only thing which made me sad about it was Etnopatys not getting a chance at Eurovision
Etnopatsy should win Eesti Laul soon, their music is amazing!
Also, I think Randajad should have won instead of Alexander Rybak, please don't kill me :3

"Leto svet" was just a mock entry. I hated it. I think due to the many years of low results just got Estonians annoyed with Eurovision so they wanted to snd something to mock Eurovision.
This was the favourite to win actually ruclips.net/video/zwrWMYU-MJI/видео.html This is the same Iiris who also tried for this year :)
And "No thank you" in Estonian is "Ei Aitäh". Direct translation basically.

2009 is the best entry ever from Estonia. 2010, 2012, 2015, 2017 & 2018 are also great song. I would have also included 2011 but the singer's & dancers were quite annoying & not suited to the main Eurovision, probably junior Eurovision.

In my opinion Estonia had a really good songs during the years, especially the ones from: 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2015. Also, Estonia had some really bad songs in my opinion like: 2005, 2006, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2018 (yes i'm the one who doesn't like 'Verona" and "La Forza"). All in all, Estonia almost every year made a wrong desicions. For example, i'm still mad at Estonian public and jury for not choosing Sandra Nurmsalu to represent them in 2014 with the lovely "Kui tuuled pöörduvad", last year Ivo Linna should have represented the country with the great "Suur lotreii" and many other examples.
Matt if you didn't, you should try to listen some Estonian National Final songs from 90's. There are some really good songs from this decade. My suggestions will be:
    1.Janika Sillamaa - Tuhast tõuseb päev (1993)
    2.Kirile Loo - Maatütre tants (1996)
    3.Kate - Perpetuum mobile (1997)
    4.Maarja-Liis Ilus, Hanna-Liina Võsa & Anne Värvimann - Aeg (1997)
    5.Evelin Samuel - Unistus igavesest päevast (1998)
    6.Evelin Samuel & Ivo Linna - Andesta (1998)
    7.Kate - Tulepuuhuulte luule (1998)
8.Joel De Luna, Mati Kõrts, Jassi Zahharov & Mait Trink - Opera On Fire (1999)
    9.Kate - Vee ja soola saaga (1999)

My Top 10 Estonian Songs in Eurovision:
The ones that were stuck in pre-qualification (My Semi-Final) are:
    24. Neiokõsõ - Tii (2004 - 11th (Semi-Final) [Tied with Israel]) (0 (My Points) - 57 (Actual Points)): I don't get this one! Is this some kind of a joke?! I mean, How did this get points?! It's generic and stupid! A BIG MIDDLE FINGER FOR YOU NEIRAPISTS!
    23. Suntribe - Let's Get Loud (2005 - 20th (Semi-Final)) (0 (My Points) - 31 (Actual Points) [My Tie with Neiokõsõ]): Yeah, Definitely the worst entry from 2005. I mean, WHY IS LAURA THERE?! LAURA SHOULD'VE HAD HER SONG "Moonwalk" INSTEAD OF THIS! Definitely my nul points along with Neiokõsõ's terrifying song in 2004.
    22. Kreisiraadio - Leto svet (2008 - 18th (SF1)) (0 - (My Points) - 8 (Actual Points) [My Tie with Neiokõsõ and Suntribe]): *LETO NE! LETO, LETO NE! LETO NE! LETO, LETO NE! SOMMER NICHT! SOMMER, SOMMER NICHT! SOMMER NICHT! SOMMER, SOMMER NICHT!* I will never explain my opinion because I am too scared to talk about this! This deserved to flop for how bad it was, I have a big hatred of these guys, I hope they will be arrested by the Estonian Police!!!
    21. Tanja - Amazing (2014 - 12th (SF2)) (5 - (My Points) - 36 (Actual Points)): Yeah, The song was great but it had a confusing staging in Copenhagen. I'm not a fan of this song.
    20. Silvi Vrait - Naga merelaine (1994 - 24th) (9 - (My Points) - 2 (Actual Points)): So, the debut entry from Estonia was a bit mediocre to be honest but I kind of enjoy the song.
    19. Sandra Oxenryd - Through My Window (2006 - 18th (Semi-Final)) (11 - (My Points) - 28 (Actual Points)): It sounds like I like this one too but not really that much, And yes, It sounds a lot like Melodifestivalen songs at that time.
    18. Malcolm Lincoln and Manpower 4 - Siren (2010 - 14th (SF1)) (18 - (My Points) - 39 (Actual Points)): I love this song but the song never had a real kind of execution to the tension of this song. It's like I hate this song today, A few days later, I like it but after a few months, You have nightmares about it. Well, That's siren for you.
    17. Koit Toome - Mere lapsed (1998 - 12th) (22 - (My Points) - 36 (Actual Points)): This song was generic and boring for many reasons that I can't explain but it has Koit Toome in it so it's not boring to watch. Yeah, The melody was boring but yeah it was good in 1998.
    16. Birgit Õigemeel (2013 - 20th (Final)/10th (SF1)) (25 - (My Points) - 19 (Grand Final Points) - 52 (SF1 Points)): The song was not so good for me, The staging was a bit stupid, The lyrics were a bit melancholic (It's a ballad, How did you know that?) And the backing music was generic (Which is the melody of this song) I really think that I'm a bit confused about this song.
    15. Ruffus - Eighties Coming Back (2003 - 21st) (32 - (My Points) - 14 (Actual Points)): The song was great but the staging was a problematic one to say at least.
    14. Sahlene - Runaway (2002 - 3rd [Tied with United Kingdom]) (36 - (My Points) - 111 (Actual Points)): The song was good but the chorus was stolen from I Believe I Can Fly by R. Kelly (At least the melody itself)
    13. Gerli Padar - Partners in Crime (2007 - 22nd [Tied with Montenegro]) (42 - (My Points) - 33 (Actual Points)): It wasn't a bad song but I'm not a fan of the whole staging itself.
    12. Getter Jaani - Rockefeller Street (2011 - 24th (Final)/9th (SF2)) (44 - (My Points/Grand Final Points) - 60 (SF2 Points)): I wish I should've put this into Top 10 but unfortunately I don't find any good reason to put this into Top 10. The song was good, But it's only for JESC in my opinion.
    11. Jüri Pootsmann - Play (2016 - 18th (SF1)) (46 - (My Points) - 24 (Actual Points)): I never expected an last place that year to be honest with you. But the song was a bit mediocre but last place was too stupid for Estonia, It should've been 15th.
The ones that passed the pre-qualification (My Semi-Final) process are (Top 10):
    10. Elina Nechayeva - La forza (2018 - 8th (Final)/5th (SF1)) (52 - (My Points) - 245 (Grand Final Points) - 201 (SF1 Points)): I don't really like opera but this gives a new appreciation to Eurovision. The projector dress was amazing and the ending was goosebumps.
    9. Ines - Once in a Lifetime (2000 - 4th) (58 - (My Points) - 98 - (Actual Points)): This also sounds like a Melodifestivalen song, The song was good but it's a coincidence that they made a Melodifestivalen-styled song for the contest in Stockholm, Sweden (Charlotte Nilsson Perrelli won in 1999 if new ESC fans don't know)
    8. Maarja-Liis Ilus and Ivo Linna - Kaelakee hääl (1996 - 5th (Final/Audio Pre-Qualification) (105 - (My Points) - 94 (Grand Final Points) - 106 (Audio Pre-Qualification Points)): This was a sweet duet, The black and white effect on the singers faces on live was a good job for Norwegian effect creators that make great virtual reality effects.
    7. Tanel Padar, Dave Benton, 2XL - Everybody (2001 - 1st (Winner)) (111 - (My Points) - 198 (Actual Points)): This deserved to win but I don't think that bringing Dave Benton was a good idea.
    6. Urban Symphony - Rändajad (2009 - 6th (Final)/3rd - (SF2)) (119 - (My Points) - 129 (Grand Final Points) - 115 (SF2 Points)): This song was a masterpiece! The song's parts were mysterious and dark. Well deserved 6th place for them.
    5. Maarja-Liis Ilus - Keelatud maa (1997 - 8th) (178 - (My Points) - 82 (Actual Points)): This song was great in any needs. But Maarja's duet was much better for me. But somehow this deserved 5th for me.
    4. Ott Lepland - Kuula (2012 - 6th (Final)/4th (SF2)) (200 - (My Points) - 120 (Grand Final Points) - 100 (SF2 Points)): This song was epic! The song had a lot of tension, melancholy and execution. This was a really good year for Eesti.
    3. Elina Born and Stig Rästa - Goodbye to Yesterday (2015 - 7th (Final)/3rd (SF1)) (385 - (My Points) - 106 (Grand Final Points) - 105 (SF1 Points)): The song was epic! The tension and melancholy behind it were so spot on! The song's overall story was a masterpiece! But it should've deserved to win but 7th place is still okay!
    2. Koit Toome and Laura - Verona (2017 - 14th (SF2)) (465 - (My Points) - 85 (Actual Points)): This song was the favorite to win in 2017 but the staging was the reason why it did not get qualified from the Semi Final 2.
    1. Evelin Samuel and Camille - Diamond of Night (1999 - 6th) (989 - (My Points) - 90 (Actual Points)): The song was soothing and silent, The song was so emotional that I really cried a little. Well, I guess this song has a tension that makes this #1 on my list.
That's it, Please comment and Love Love Peace Peace!
