I'm with you on raw books, bro. I am a reader first and foremost. I don't worry too much about condition as long as it's a readable copy.

As someone who collects via slab and raw, it can be a balancing act. Obviously you want to keep your books as pristine as possible in case one pops and you want to slab it. But then you potentially create a hole in your raw run. I don't shy away from buying trade paperbacks, rougher condition copies, or later printings that can be cheaper if I really want to read the story. Besides, with TPBs, I find the reading experience WAY, WAY better than reading monthly issues, where you might forget what you read the month prior.
One tip I would share with you and the readers here is to slow down, and enjoy what you already have. If your comics live in a box, I say get 'em out of there! Display your favourite covers & issues. Show off your grails. It gives longevity and value to every purchase you make. We as collectors tend to click "buy now", then immediately search for the next thing to buy. Then the packages arrive by mail, we inspect the books, and into the long box they go. Get more out of the purchase by simply displaying them more and curating your space so you're always reminded of how awesome your collection is.
I enjoyed your take on this- it’s refreshing and I fully agree that displaying your collection is the proper way to enjoy your books. When you are limited on space (like myself) you have to improvise. Sometimes I’ll put my books away for a few months and then take them back out to relive the moments with them. TPB are mostly what I read, but if I already have the book I’ll flip through it and enjoy the story. Thanks for watching! Much appreciated 🙏

Agree that we should all be reading our books which is why I try to have reader copies of all my CGC/CBCS graded books. X-Men 121 is the true 1st full appearance of Alpha Flight and yes, undervalued as everyone gravitates to X-Men 120. That ASM has my attention too, as I'm collecting the 1st appearances of Spidey's rogues gallery.

Hecks yes, reading is undervalued indeed. I have only owned 2 slabs and those were from mystery boxes and I have sold one and the other is on ebay. Nothing against slabs, I just can't read them and they would take up too much space
