    I just binge watch this series over the last day and a half. I think you did a great job. I love the look with the old blue and the rust. I guess what I would like to see more on your channel is more of the same but maybe more on a budget like you just said in this video. Something more attainable for the average guy that doesn't have a lot of extra money to piddle with on the weekends.

    This whole series was dope and super inspiring! I dig the attention to detail on things no one will ever see. You asked " why am I like this?" And I laughed harder than I'd like to admit but some of us are like this because we appreciate the little details. Your dislike for all the rust work may be strong but your appreciation for doing the small things right and not half-assing them is stronger. And thank God for friends down to help us do sketchy things!

    Love the Jerry Can idea. Saw one on Corey Wheaton’s channel they had mounted on a rat rod truck with a flatbed. They used a 1 gallon can and had it screwed to the bed at an awkward angle to make it look like someone had forgotten about it and it was about to falloff.😂 Several times people would honk at them as they were driving to warn them their gas can was falling off. I guess occasionally people walking by would try to push it back onto the bed while it was parked.😂

    My 11 year old daughter saw this. She's in love. I've had a truck with this body style since I was 16yo and now I'm 54. My daughter wants my 64 for her 16th birthday but since the old trucks are pretty unsafe by today's standards, giving her mine just wasnt going to happen. Your videos have inspired me to complete one of these to give to her for her 16th bd. Would really like to be able to communicate with you about this at some point. Beautiful truck man.... Truly

    Great truck! Only way it could be better is if it were a Ford. Just kidding! I have a 55 F100 on a 78 4WD chassis. 351/400. It was a mid 80s resto mod, originally built for a daily driver. Still drive it daily. We've been together for 34 years now. From experience, there's always something to fix, upgrade or make better. Your adventure has only just begun. Have fun! Be safe!

    I love the color. I prefer the old barn mirrors. I saw that some of the areas where the rust had eaten through like the hood, and bottom of the door. You didn’t seal or weld. Why so? Will that affect it? Could you make a video showing the interior and dash a bit more? If money or time wasn’t the issue would you have kept the original frame or still swapped it? Just insane build the patina look is great. It’s exactly what I want. It’s incredible! I’d also appreciate an update video explaining some issues or concerns adjustments or fixes that you’ve made since finishing the restoration.

    • @FLManGarage
      @FLManGarage  2 месяца назад +1

      I think i may switch back to the other mirrors! I didnt repair the hood because it would have not matched the patina if i did so, it doesnt really affect anything at the moment, i am keeping my eye out for goods in better condition that would match the patina as well. As far as the bottom of the door, it was beyond my abilities to repair, a new door wouldn’t match the truck. Theres no electrical components in the door and the truck is stored in the garage and not driven when raining so i dont see an immediate issue there. I have a bunch more videos showing the interior process a bit more. If money wasnt an issue, i would like to do a complete restoration of another truck and keep it all original. But for this being my first project, it was easier and cheaper doing it this way and i like how it looks old but drives like a new truck. I have another video coming up fixing some issues i ran in to! Thanks so much for your comment and support!!

    Love how the build turned out! Nice work on the bed and gas can. 🤘🏼 Go with Vintage air! I did on mine and it was very easy to install. It got super cold too and heater was great too! I would say it’s a weekend project. It’s more expensive for sure but you won’t regret it. Same with the steering column. I did the cheap one too but wished I did the Ididit instead. I think im going to try a square body Chevy on a Tahoe frame. I think that’s the next project for me.

    • @FLManGarage
      @FLManGarage  4 месяца назад

      Thank you for your comment and support!
      I did not fix the holes in the bottom of the door as I do not have the skills to, in my opinion the doors would have to be replaced and that would ruin the patina look. Also they are $700 apiece!. I did get all the rust off, treated with rust treatment and painted. truck is stored indoors and is not driven in the rain so I don’t see it as an immediate issue, but I may address it in the future if I gained the skills to do so 😃

      @@FLManGarageSounds like a plan. I’ve built several projects like this and they usually take several phases before they done.

    Did the kit not come with provisions to mount the bed or is that only so you could mount the wood floor? Glad you’re finally done with the project and happy that you’re able to enjoy it, but still sad that you’re done. Lol
    Also, I don’t know in what conditions you plan on driving the truck, but it might be a good idea to treat the bottom side or put some kind of coating for water splashes or debris just so the wood won’t rot from underneath . 🤙🏽

    • @FLManGarage
      @FLManGarage  7 месяцев назад

      The kit did come with provisions to mount the bed, but unfortunately all the steel cross members on my bed were rusted out beyond repair, i could have replaced with steel cross members, but since i knew i was doing a wood bed anyway, i figured the wood cross members would work just as well and be easier!
      Thank you for the kind words! More episodes will be coming sooner than later i think! Starting on the ac components this weekend!

    • @FLManGarage
      @FLManGarage  7 месяцев назад

      Awesome!! That sounds like a cool truck! I posted this info on the other comment on the other video as well, but will add here as well incase anyone has a similar question
      I used this product to treat any surface rust on the underside of any panels. It is basically black spray paint. So dont use it on any part that you want to keep patina
      amzn.to/3LffZaJ
      For surface rust on the patina, i scrubbed with these pads.
      amzn.to/3REu7gW
      Then for areas that were worse, i used 300 grit sandpaper.
      After the surface is prepped and cleaned, i sprayed it with 2-3 coats of poppys patina “glossed out”.
