I would add the best 5 horses shown are Sea Bird II,Ribot,Frankel,Peintre Celebre and Dancing Brave while Yeats is the best stayer there and only injury cost him the chance to win the 2004 Derby also.
Excellent compilation. There is no 'best' ever. In my lifetime. Enable's consistency has been unparalleled. Frankel's Queen Anne was the single most impressive race I've witnessed. Giant's Causeway's toughness. Zarkava's versatility. Montjeu's effortless dominance in his prime. Peinte Celebre's push button acceleration. Bosra Sham and Triptych deserved spots on this list in my opinion.
Great memories of great horses and great jockeys! I'll never forget Sir Peter O'Sullevan's words commenting on Sagaro's third Gold Cup; "Lester Piggott's looking for danger; thinks he's got Buckskin cold!".

What a Horse "Dancing Brave" was!..Not that I'm any kind of authority, but she seemed to have a veet different style of running, low down&an ability to suddenly quicken her stride!
OK so I understand the reasoning behind the video but its called "Top 50 Greatest European Racehorses" so where are Red Rum,Desert Orchid,Dawn Run,Istabraq,Best Mate were they not racehorses too?.I guarantee you no horse on this list would beat Red Rum at Aintree or Best Mate at Cheltenham.
I know where you're coming from on this one, but this was flat horses only. However I think your choices should have included Arkle (the definite No.1 "himself", Mill House, Denman, Kauto Star, Don Cossack, Flying Bolt, Salmon Spray and Kribensis.
@@davidkent8606 wrong kauto star is the greatest. There is an analysis that shows kauto is better. One horse was called Horse of the Century and it wasn't akle.
@@barbaradyson6951 What analysis, by whom? Arkle had the highest Timeform rating of any chaser ever 210. Kauto Star would have trailed in his wake in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. And Kauto would never have won an Irish Grand National or a Whitbread Gold Cup giving lumps of weight away over extreme distances like Arkle did. I'm old enough to have seen many of Arkle's great races, he was a machine. Just checked Kauto Star's Timeform rating 191, which means Arkle would have beaten him easily if they'd ever met (19 superior).

Frankel...The 2000 Guineas where he went 15 lengths clear and eased down to 6 lengths and then his amazing Queen Anne win!…if you watch all fourteen of his races, Quealy barely taps him he just lengthens the reins and says Go!…and Frankel goes!…after that for me it’s take your pick ...Dancing Brave, Mill Reef, The Brigadier but Frankel has no peers.
Sorry but had Dancing Brave ran against Frankels Guineas field i dread to think how far he would of won by...and it wouldnt of been a diminishing five length!
@@jasonfox4857 ...six lengths easing up. Dancing Brave was usually held up to unleash his finishing speed. Frankel usually opened up from further out and blew horses away. Two different horses , would’ve been great to see them race each other. Brave definitely ran the best Arc I ever saw. If they’d raced (even over mile and half) I would stake my wages on Frankel. Reckon he burns off Braves kick. From halfway through his 3-y-o season onwards he was invincible. Interesting discussion though because Starkey messed up Brave’s Derby and he was unlucky in his tilt at the Breeders Cup turf.
Sad that there is no ouija board. I respect her great journey. And the greatest European horse for me is Montjeu. Because he broke the dream of my most beloved horse, El condor pasa. The duel at the 1999 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is legendary.

@@rodneymckee8431 it’s frustrating that Frankel didn’t take on the King George or the Arc. "Sea Bird on the wing". What an awesome statement from commentator Peter O'Sullivan. ❤️

Agree what horsd a run over 1mile 1.4 and 1.6 last triple crown winner says it all
With you all the way - I was a 10-y-o when he won the Derby - the start of life long love
Dancing brave and frankel for me
Would've had Singspiel in there, his 96/97 seasons were amazing
32:42 (My Favourite of ALL TIME!)
Many THANKS for Uploading This!
I'd never seen Nashwan before. Wow, what a beast!
No Sadlers Wells, who was not only a great racehorse, but probably the best sire in the time period covered in this video.
Criminal Sadlers missed out.
My God, how tough was Giants Causeway.
He was an Out & out battler m8 👍🐴
Sea The Stars every time ..... Number 1 Only 3 year old to win 2000 Guineas. The Derby and the Arc in the same season.
Lammtarra won the Derby, King George and Arc at 3. His only three runs of the year. #1
Can't believe Mtoto not is on the list. Also Sharpo who to me was the greatest sprinter, beating both Marwell and Moorestyle at York.
Thank you very much ! I love your videos.

Only a few can come near Ribot from this list.
Where is Golden Fleece, who never broke sweat to beat Assert twice and whom Vincent O Brien rated on a par with Sir Ivor and Nijinsky.
Good question. Shocking that he should be omitted
The author did well with 99% of his list, but agreed, Golden Fleece is the one who should be here.
