49th MMFF Gabi ng Parangal ||

The 49th Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal was a resounding success. Held at the New Frontier Theater in Cubao, it was definitely a star-studded affair. In his opening remarks, MMDF Deputy Chairperson Frisco San Juan, Jr. expressed pride and happiness with the success of the MMFF. He said that all ten entries this year exhibited the richness of our cinematic landscape. Among the huge winners that night were Star For All Seasons Vilma Santos who won Best Actress for "When I Met You in Tokyo", Cedrick Juan who bagged home the Best Actor trophy for "GomBurZa", JC Santos who was named Best Supporting Actor for "Mallari" and Miles Ocampo who nabbed the Best Supporting Actress plum for "Family of Two (A Mother and Son Story)". GMA Pictures' "Firefly" was adjudged Best Picture. The historical movie "GomBurZa" took home seven trophies that include: Best Director, Best Actor, Best Sound, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, 2nd Best Picture and the Gatpuno Antonio Villegas Cultural Award.
