- Welcome to another beginner build series!! Yes, this series is specifically designed for the newbie to the world of R/C and more specifically to the newbie to the world of Tamiya and the Tamiya Hornet. The Tamiya Hornet is one of the most iconic cars that Tamiya ever produced. For many growing up in the 80's, this is the car that started off their obsession for radio control. So no matter what your age, you are going to find this an absolute blast to build and to drive!
So if you are brand new to the world of R/C or have never built a Tamiya kit before, I will walk you through everything from start to finish.
In this video we will do Step 10 which is attaching the newly built dampers to the chassis.
Lastly, below is a list of the tools that I would recommend you have on hand. Please note that they are affiliate links which means that if you choose to use any of the links below to buy any of these items, I will earn a little something on the sale so I thank you in advance as it all helps to build and maintain the channel. But please note, you can often find these items at your local hobby store and sometimes, not always, but sometimes the prices might even be cheaper. So before using these links I would recommend seeing if your local hobby store has them in stock. Supporting your local hobby store is preferred in my eyes.
Anyway, I can't wait to help you with your build of the Tamiya Hornet!
Above all enjoy the process! Doesn't matter if you're fast or slow at building an R/C, what matters is you have fun while doing it!
HERE ARE SOME TOOLS THAT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HAVING FOR THE BUILD:
TAMIYA SCREWDRIVER SET: amzn.to/3PoJOIN
TAMIYA SIDE CUTTERS: amzn.to/3Panv9n
NEEDLE NOSE PLYERS: amzn.to/3ORAJ9J
EXACTO KNIFE: amzn.to/47N1Prg
SHOCK PLYERS: amzn.to/45rq2BQ
MUST HAVE FIRST UPGRADE (STRONGLY SUGGEST GETTING BALL BEARINGS FOR THE BUILD)
FULL BALLBEARING KIT: amzn.to/3QY3Drw - Развлечения
Hi there Freddy, again a great building video.👍
Thank you Dirk!
Hi there Freddy, yeah, good explanation of the shading used by Tamiya to distinguish between the components required. Hence why Tamiya say that teenagers should have adult supervision, when building a Tamiya, well, they did back in 1984 anyway 😂😂 I think these days, teenagers don’t necessarily go into RC’s as much as they are into gaming 😂😊😂they’re missing out 😊😊😊best wishes 😊
Thanks John and you’re right they are missing out!! Im trying to figure out a way to get kids back into it here. Video games kind of took over and I think it’s been a mistake. No one socializes any more. They all just talk to each other over microphones and blow up stuff lol
I'll be back again for this one... 👍 Hornet rebuild has been delayed due to new tt02b.. Thanks Fred
Don’t blame you!! That TT02B is going to be fun to build!
@@FastFreddyRC I accidentally got a 4s to 6s esc for it.. I'm not sure the car can handle it. Definitely going to be interesting. Going to run stock first..
@@reitplace4765 hmmmm…good question! I’m going to say it might end up being too much for it but can’t hurt to test it out can it? Lol
Hi Fast Freddy, do you have a video of fitting wheels and tires together? I own a Hornet and already built it . Just about to give it it's maiden run today 14 September 2023. But I'm just interested in your method of fitting wheels together. I actually found it easy and then just never used them tyres because I've brought some aftermarket Louise phantom tyres and wheels with foams. At least my Tamiya Hornet wheels and tires will be preserved and stay brand new. I don't really like them and I found a vent hole of about almost 3 mm diameter. That's ridiculous. It's like running on a flat tyre that will puff up when the motor is spinning. What the hell. These Louise phantom tyres are awesome. Proper race tyres glued Nd with foams. Nice fat tread and very sticky and tacky.👌💪👍
Well I will soon as I just finished putting the wheels together!! But my method will the same as I did for the grasshopper. Here’s the link: ruclips.net/video/TV4SkfHgSlg/видео.htmlsi=HLIhqV0rG8G6uknV - As a whole it seems to be hit and miss. Some people find them ok to do others have a huge amount of trouble with them. I just finished shooting the video for the hornet tires and it took me less than 5 minutes doing it my method. I’ll check out the tires you’ve found as they sound great. You going to do a video of it? I’d love to see your phantom tires in action!!
