Always look forward to these monthly videos from you! You describe what you’ve watched without giving too much away and keep the suspense up at the same time. Appreciate you 🫡 Btw, Children of Men has been one of my favorites for years now. Glad you got around to watching it. Brilliant film.
The Hunt is such a great movie, but I always find it hard to recommend because it’s so difficult to express why that subject matter ends up being so compelling.
I think what makes it so compelling and hard to watch is that in many ways, the stakes of an accusation like that are on the level of death, which is typically the highest stake in film. Career, friends, respect, and freedom all gone instantly is as scary as death, but even more relateable because this really could happen to anyone.
Along with Ghostwatch (which I loved so much) there is another one to check out if you can find it called WNUF Halloween Special (2013) very well done old school aesthetic...
I'm a really huge fan of yours, from Brazil! Thanks a lot for all your videos you produce with such a great content and suggestions! I try to follow all of them! Regards!

Thanks for the wrap up, Emma! Hereditary is one of my favorite films and I watch it a couple of times a year. Like you say, it's very rewatchable. I finally saw Pearl this month, and I absolutely loved it. Looking forward to Maxxxine.
So happy it’s that time of the month!! Love your recommendations. Love your taste in movies. Love how vague but intriguing your reviews are!! Huge fan from another continent! 💗
Lots of great stuff this month! Children of Men! Anything with Mads! The monolith that is Hereditary! The Queen’s Gambit blew me away. When it was over, I immediately tried to look up the true story behind it, only to find out that there wasn’t one! Totally had me fooled thinking it was a biopic.

Wow you watched so many of my favourite films for the first time this month. Children of Men must be my all time favourite film. So great. I watch it pretty much every year. The Piano Teacher! Grave of the Fireflies! Was Incendies also a first time? If so add that to the list! Still holding out for In A Violent Nature!
In Hereditary, at the end in the tree house, it’s reminiscent of the nativity scene but the hell version in a sense. Also, the muffled noises in the opening credits is likely from the followers of Paimon chanting. These are some things I noticed when I rewatched it. That mysterious breath outside may also be from his vigilante followers.
It's so funny you mentioned films with Mads cuz I just rewatched Hannibal! 😂 I watched The Hunt because of your videos and now I'm gonna check out Another Round!! A Mads Marathon!!
The Hunt always reminds me of that short animation film "There's a Man in the Woods", which is one of the most anxiety inducing, depressing and lowkey disturbing pieces of animation I've ever seen. I'm sure you've seen it too but in the remote chance you haven't PLEASE rush and watch it! It's easily available on RUclips
Cool, I watched Ghostwatch this month as well, hadn't heard of it. I saw it mentioned with regards Late Night With the Devil. Made me miss Parky. A good Mads Mikkelsen film to try is Adam's Apples. Not a horror, it's difficult to describe for me really, the tone, it's more of a comedy. I enjoyed it quite a bit. The Danes make such good films and watching that film really highlighted that gap in my knowledge, which still exists to be honest, but I have seen quite a few more since.

Thanks for sharing your list of films you saw this month, Emma. "After Hours", I haven't seen that film since it first came out and yet I can still remember it well. Need to hide, the papier mâché artist has an idea. 😉
I'm surprised you didn't mention Thom Yorke from Radiohead (since you love that band) when you initially talked about "Incendies". That scene when the music started playing, is one of the most memorable scenes in the movie. If you don't love Hereditary, we can't be friends lol I'm looking forward to Ari Aster's next noir-western-dark comedy film, "Eddington".
Hi Emma - The soundtrack to Mysterious Skin is really good as is the cinematography. Sadly , the movie is a bit disappointing ultimately but still worth a watch.

@spookyastronauts unrelated to horror can you (or anyone) recommend a YT content creator that could guide me though the "Star Wars" franchise including Films, TV Series and Anime? I probably seen about 6 of the movies and only the first season of "The Mandalorian". Specifically which order should they be watched and what to avoid? Sorry to go off topic.
Watch Tell Them You Love Me, very disturbing documentary on Netflix. In a Violent Nature was solid- had a meditative feel and the gore was amazing, just wish there were a couple more memorable kills (like yoga one). Also didn't love the ending.
The Watchers. Seen that movie hundreds of times. You should 100% watch In a violent Nature even if you end up not liking it. It was a great effort. Pontypool is so good. Miracle Mile was awesome. Also, I watched Hereditary and didn't like it. Maybe, if I'd seen it in 2018, but I found that women annoying as hell😏

The 2020 film has nothing to do with that film....just the same name. Pontypool is a mixed review film but I enjoy it lol. Grave of the Fireflies is amazing and tear jerking I agree its one of the best. I also hate Hereditary 😂
gotta be careful when talking about "reality" tv shows. They are not actually reality, none of them are. The reason for that is that there is a conflict of interest between entertainment and reality. As we all know, reality is actually quite boring a lot of the time. Unfortunately a tv show can't afford to have this occur, so almost nothing about a reality show is reality. They would not allow an entire episode to be non-entertaining, so they infuse drama, they force people to discuss things they otherwise wouldn't. So especially when a show is involving people with potential mental health issues, you should just be a little careful just straight up calling it a reality show. I know that's what it's considered, but it's just not accurate. TV producers aren't going to just stomach a stretch where they go multiple episodes with nothing particularly interesting happening. So in order to make money and bring attention they are going to lie and manipulate the show so that it IS entertaining no matter what. I know you don't mean anything malicious by calling it a reality show, I guess I'm just a little concerned that more and more of the population seems to genuinely think that it's just a house where they place cameras around and that's all of the manipulation that occurs. There are meetings, there are discussions about what to talk about and when. There are certainly times where the producers tell the participants what to do, how to do it and the only reason I know that is because of money. No one is going to be so into the art of a reality show that they are going to risk NOT garnering the audience's attention just to make a piece of art. Therefore, it's basically all fake or heavily heavily manipulated and some reality shows are just downright scripted. I'm sure this is a little more raw than something like the Bachelor, which is just completely a foregone conclusion and they just make every decision to get the most viewers, but it's still nowhere near actual reality.
Hey I’m not sure if you know this but I worked in tv for 10 years and I can tell you most people know how over produced reality tv is. I think the issue would be calling it a documentary, it’s not problematic to call it the genre title we all use. It’s literally the label it goes by, just to explain the format.
Nocturnal animals might be one of the most underrated movies ever
It’s one of the worst films I’ve ever seen

Omg yeeeey🙌🏾❤️❤️❤️
What a coincidence, I just saw after hours for the first time recently
Sometbing even crazier is The contestant is a true story ( or based on) 😭😭😭
The Watchers.
🤔I talked about watching in a violent nature in this video, I have a review on it too
you should definitely watch s**cide club and noriko's dinner table if you havent
Cheers to this post, that is all 😅🤘🏼
Hereditary deserves 5 stars 🙃
The problem with Watchers is that it was only PG/PG-13 level scares which means no scares.
High Tension is amazing until the ending 😑
Have you heard of the new German supernatural horror film the devils bath?
Yes I spoke about it in my what’s coming to VOD
How do you stay sane, Emma?
I’m not 😭

Yes it was last month!
I had a nervous breakdown when Tom Hanks loses "something'" in Castaway, I cried and cried and cried Emma, I don't think this is a spoiler but you decide. Remove it if you need to.
You're JUST seeing Cast Away?
No it’s a rewatch, I just haven’t seen it in over a decade

Lol I watched pontypool when it came out and hated it. HATED it. every part of it lol. and I couldn't remember what the name of the movie was nor did I want to look it up but I do avoid it at all costs LOL
5:52 the 2020 one is better
11:26 its based off of a book? Hopefully its better than the movie.
15:20 more like ponty dump
16:38 best movie in this video so far
27:28 the worst movie on the list tbh
