Back in 2002 I was a member of the KQRS promotions department and we were setting up our radio tent on the plaza at the Metrodome. I look up and here comes Dan Gladden. Me: “Good afternoon, Mr. Gladden-Don Anger from KQRS.” Dan: “Hi, Donny.” So cool. PS: I was at games 1 & 2 of the 1987 World Series. Game 1 “Danny” hit a Grand Slam!
Dan Gladden was my favorite Twin on the late '80's team. His hustle and rough and tumble style inspired me in my own outfield softball playing. I loved his blonde mane flowing from under the back of his batting helmet, as he was flying around the bases. Congrats "Wrench" on joining the Twins Hall of Fame!! ⚾
He is a very special sports person, not just a legendary player.... I got the pleasure of hanging out with him AND Kirby for a few hours talking sports one day at my bar after I had finished my shift they walked in and say down next to me while I was on a RAIDERS RANT... and just joined in and I didn't even realize who I was having this awesome sports conversation with till my friend walked in and saw me talking to them ,and whisperd in my ear....Do you realize who you are talking to ???!!! And I was just "oh I just met these guys ,they are awesome they really know their sports" and my friend was like THATS LEGENDARY DAN GLADDEN & KIRBY FUCKING PUCKETT! LOL that's how caught up I was in the conversation.... Had I been paying attention ( in my defense I was a little brain dead from having just worked a bartending shift.... ) I should have at least recognized their voices!! They were in town to commentate for the playoffs between my A's and the twins... I will never forget how awesome they both were and how they had a really long intelligent and passionate sports conversation without bringing up that they both were not just professional Major league ball players but LEGENDARY HALL OF FRICKEN FAMERS.... we talked football, baseball AND hockey Gosh I wish I had a recording of it cause it was like20 years ago
Maybe my favorite white major leaguer player of all time. And He was real close with Kirby😢. Just loved his play. He was GRITTY, TOUGH, and CLUTCH. Danny all the way!
When you make it into a HALL OF FAME.... whatever hall, whether it's Rock-'n'-roll or plumbing.... You get to have as LONG of a speech as ya want! It's rare and they EARNED it And MOST OF US WANT to hear what they have to say... Because one can learn ALOT from ANY person who has reached a HOF STATUS.... Duh.....
The Glad Man! My favorite player!
The guy was clutch. Granny in 87 never forget

Congratulations Dan. You rightfully deserve this honor and it’s been a long time coming!
I agree what Dan said, Al Newman, Randy Bush, and Gene Larkin will one day be in the Twins Hall of Fame!
This speech was the greatest sports moment I've ever witnessed. I have no idea how to process this at all.
Congratulations Dan. You deserve this honor. My friends and I were there for your victory laps thru St. Paul for both world series wins.
Congratulations on such a well deserved honor! So nice to see your family and especially Joyce. Lovely tribute!
this is so cool! my dad grew up with Dan so I've grown up a fan of his and met him a bunch of times when he would play in California.

Could have mentioned Kirby in the as a player part of his speech. But good good good. Love Gladden. One TOUGH mama JAMA!💪🏼
The man from Glad
We need Buxton, Correa to join that category.
A, from the heart talk is always great. I have appreciated all of them.
Who is in the former teammates section?
Congrats to Mr. Gladden.
However, the speech was too long.
