It'd be cool to see how much you could get them to pull up the slope - maybe after upgrades? - or an obstacle course, like one of those off-road driving experiences.
@PeterSripol ... I wanna see you make real live mario cart. FPV 1:8 scale off road RC monster trucks with some kind of throttle and or steering disabling technology... maybe activated hitting impact sensitive targets on the cars with nerf type guns mounted under the FPV camera? Maybe just mod a laser tag set? But what would be really cool is if you can have some kind of sensor on the track which when driven over, changes the behavior of your car when the target on the back of it is struck or the laser target sensor activated. Maybe have the track sensor in a place where you have to drive over it and have it randomly assign the type of penalty your car suffers if hit by the opponent's weapon. It could be illuminated with one of 3 different colors ... one for steering deactivation penalty when hit, one for throttle deactivation penalty when hit, and one for total immunity, no effect at all when hit. C'mon Obi-Peter, you're our only hope... I know you can do it! :D
That's the novelty of these fully functional 1/10 scale like RedCat and Axial have made, they look real in a strange way. I just bought an Everest PRO (eBay $269) and have driven it in gravel, rain and snow in first 3 hours without issues. It's a very decent rig so far, ready out of box (+4AA), with a quality NiMh battery included. Realizing I wanted to keep this RedCat Everest Pro FOREVER (lol), I started upgrading it. First I bought solid stainless Drivelines $12, then a CNC Al Servo Horn $6, then a Light Bar (scale) above cab $11, then a new NiMh battery. The Transmitter is basic, but functional and applied Grip Strips to make it feel expensive. I ordered a new Axle set (F+R) of CNC metal construction, w/easily removable covers (not Portals). After that I'll have nothing to do but drive it and place decals on the windows. It's very mod-able RC with maybe 7 mph top speed unless you play w/the gearing. There's plenty of stock config. power for climbing, with run times way over an hour so w/ HexFly 3000 7.2v NiMh. If you've seen the prices on the 1/10 Scale 4 x 4 RC from Axial or Traxxas, you'll look at these again.
I have been into surface RC since the mid 80's and only recently got into air because of Flite Test...now it comes back full circle. In regards to Redcat, they used to be absolutely horrible, little better than toy grade. Yet in the last 5 years or so their quality has gone up drastically and they are something well worth considering. One of the better turn arounds in the RC industry. As far as future videos, there are a ton of RC Car RUclips channels, but there are very few that have your expertise in flight. Make this a channel about how to apply flying RC knowledge to Surface RC. That I think would be your niche.
I’ve been crawling with my Redcat for about a month now. It’s. Climbed everything ive put it in front of. I’m currently building a crawler course for it with every scrap piece of wood I can get in my little car. I’m using pallets and making bridge sections with old cable tv cable and sticks from the yard. Last month we had some warm weather so I made a trench lined with heavy plastic sheeting and a few days of rain filled it up. I’ve drove through the water which went over the hood. This baby is a beast. I just put the white stripe decals on the side of mine it really changes it’s appearance. It kind of looks like the old Chevy blazer. I need to learn how to take better videos and put something together. Thanks guys for getting me interested in RC trucks.
I got the Gen 7 pro, and after some runnings and testing i decided to turn it better with some "essential" upgrades, so i'll share my experience with you: - Full Upgrades list: 1 - The stock Interco tires suck a bit in wet terrain and wet rocks, so i bougth some nice Proline Hyrax 1,9 tires ( excelent grip in all terrain ) 2 - The Gen 7 pro its very top heavy so its prone to turnovers, removing the roof spare tire and installing some nice wideners on the wheels are a godsend 3 - I added weigth on the wheels ( 250 gr on front and 235 gr on back ), in conjunction with the hyrax, he turned into a Spider, can climb almost everything. 4 - Bougth 4 aluminium bedlock wheels to replace the plastic ones, in the long run your vehicle becomes more reliable and the added weigth its a benefit. 5 -As you can see in this video, the stock skid plate doesnt have crossed linkage like the other brands ( links screwed to the inside of chassis rather than outside ), so i purchased a new skid plate in order to force the linkage to screw themselves inside the chassis, so i can mitigate the Torque Twist and prevent turnovers. 6 - I Purchased a cheap chinese 25 kilo waterproof servo, because the stock one isnt waterproof. 7 - Ill buy the Portal axles ( not mandatory ) in the future, just to complete my rig, to avoid the nuissance of small rocks scraping the punpkins 8 - ( Cosmetic ): i have a roof light bar, lights on front and back, scale acessories ( medkits and expedition box ) to replace the spare tire, and i dediced to grab a knife and cut the front sticker grille and replace it with a real palstic grille. 9: My Gen 7 truck worths a 535 Euros now ( 600 USD ), but its behaviour its completely different than the stock one. Its up to you if you want to spend all that money, or purchase something else ( Like the TRX 4 Sport ), its all a matter of personal opinion and personal taste. Even with the upgrades my Gen 7 manages to be cheaper ( at least in my country ) and better than a stock Traxxas TRX 4. My cousin has a Heavily modified Traxxas Trx-4 ( same upgrades as me, but more weigth ) and my Gen 7 its allways on his tail with no problems at all, no matter the terrain. Kuddos and i hope i helped
@@noahwiebe2558 You can find the weigths in any car tire shop. You can buy the cross-link skid plate in any 3D printer store. The med kits and expedition boxes are created in a 3D printer. The wheel wideners, aluminium wheels and Hyrax tires are purchased in a Rc shop. Hope i helped.
This is awesome! Same journey I took. Started with planes, helis, and quads. Now, I have 3 RC trucks (my favourite being the Traxxas Stampede 4x4 VXL). My main interest is still planes, but the surface stuff is so nice on a poor weather day. Just as fun! Can't wait to see more.
Uh oh Alex and Austin fell into the trap of surface vehicles. They're so fun and easy and there's a very short learning curve, glad to see you guys looking into all walks of the rc hobby
When it comes to crawling there's a lot more to it than left right towards backwards you have to think outside the box sometimes in order to get where you want
Omg Violet is so cute. Congrats guys on the new channel. You had such a perfect day for it. I would have been flying off skis shooting touch and goes all day long.
I have a Redcat Volcano EXP Pro brushless and I love it. What a powerhouse. It has so much power with the lipo in it that I bought a gyro for it to help keep it under control lol. Redcat is awesome !
Awesome video guys. My wife and I run Redcat Everest 10s and we really have a great time with them. I ordered a Gen 7 and will receive it in a couple of days, cant wait....
I previously commented that I have a RedCat Volcano EXP Pro. However since this video first aired I purchased one of these Everest Gen 7's. I just received it in the mail today and have yet to try it out. If it's anything like the Volcano then I will love it. I will contact you when I drive it for the first time.
I found RC Sparks shortly before you FT and I've heard you guys reference each other. RC Sparks got me into my first crawler, a axial scx10, and you guys got into my first plane and quad, the FT explorer package and a Gremlin. It'll be fun to follow along with guys as you really get into hobby. I look forward many videos in the future.
I have been doing RC land stuff for over 30 years, and if you had asked me for advice on the best starter scaler/crawler, I would have suggested the Redcat Everest Gen 7. It is the first Redcat vehicle I have ever had as well, and it is insane what you get for the money, and I have quite a few scale trucks. You made a wise choice.
Congrats on the new channel :-) I had a Axial SCX10 I bought used and used it as a FPV vehicle (I have a short video on my channel) but I recently exchanged it for a 1/8 Redcat rockslide crawler with 4 wheel steering, and I love it. It is pretty big and it can climb over ridiculous things so easily. I just converted it to FPV and added APM for autonomous Rover capabilities. For me this is the perfect vehicle for this. Also if someone was going to buy this Redcat rockslide 1/8 new, the price is relatively inexpensive compared to the other competitors.
I have the Everest 10. I just got into crawling. I also have the Traxxas Defender with the light kit that I added so that I can crawl at night. I love it. Great video.
I have the same model and everything but I would recommend getting metal parts like a transmission, axles, caster mounts better motor and go though and lock tight everything
I've got the pro version, very nice little truck. My son has the blackout as well both can take alot of beatings and keep on rolling along. To me, for the money you just can't beat redcat.
Glad you're doing this channel... got a tip for ya. Just a thought... I saw you say that you're going to XT60 connectors... you might regret that choice. Since weight isn't really an issue, I use XT150 connectors in all my cars that are 1/10 scale and bigger... I also use some kind of lighter sleeved bullet style connector, for smaller scale/lower amp draw, for the same reason I use XT150 on the bigger ones. Because you're literally in-the-dirt, a lot more with cars than planes, the xt30, xt60, and xt90 yellow box type plugs aren't the best option. After a few trips out, they get dirty and always become really stiff and often impossible to unplug. After some dirt inevitably gets in there, they become a real pain in the arse... and then, due to the small size of the bit you grip, it's way too easy to slip while trying to get them apart and yank your wires out of places you don't want them yanked! :( It seems impossible to drive cars around and keep these types of connectors clean enough to be operable for very long. The bullet connectors that are already on those trucks, are honestly much better for dealing with those conditions than the yellow XT-- box style plugs. The XT150 however, is a sleeved bullet just like the ones that come with that car. Admittedly, they are a pain in the arse to pull the sleeve up and over until it clicks into place when soldering them on initially, but you get the hang of it and when it use, it stays connected while remaining easy to separate when you pull it and want it to come apart. Even if it gets covered in wet muck, it still slides together or apart and always seem to make a solid connection. On top of that, "150amps" means there's seriously no power choke at the plug :) BTW the cheap ones on Amazon are not legit and not compatible with the proper ones that you can get over at hobbyking. They cost more but are totally worth it. softer, but more rugged nylon plastic and the right pin length. Plus the plating is thicker. Proper gear for proper toys, in'it mate :D Good luck on the channel, I'll pass the word around at the race track
I saw this video and the same day went and bought myself an RC rock crawler! Just a cheap one but with a proper drivetrain setup, not like the cheap one on the video with the engines being part of the unsprung weight. I would love to see some comparisons of various cheap options and information about what Austin liked and disliked about his cheap one that he bought!
I own redcat haven't taken in the snow yet. , But I take it everywhere I go I love it. I've done a few adjustments some free mods.I love my slash too. What do you got for free?
I've got a Everest gen7 pro, I swapped body's and put a f250 body on it and have upgraded it a lot. Wheels, tires, and shocks makes a big difference to start with. Its good rig over all but the turning radius is bad, but easily fixed. I just bought my second crawler, I went big and picked up the trx4 bronco that was just released.
"And if you look in the back, I got an RC 4x4, RC hoverboat and RC kid!" That girl has the most adorable enthusiastic "yes!" now I miss my nieces. That red RC truck is beautiful!!
After Slash 2wd VXL on hand, Team Redcat yes. I like more speed and lift-up so MT10E. Just my flavor. Maybe when I get through this phase, crawlers become my thing. We'll see. Just no snow here in South LA. And we have to build the hills.
My son recently got a traxxas stampede and is excited about this new channel. I think it would be great if you guys share what you guys learn as you progress in the surface side of things, pitfalls techniques etc. I’ve been watching u guys for a few years now (I’m an airplane guy and just getting into quads) Love all the Flite test crew. Keep up the DIY content, love when you guys make some amazing stuff out of next to nothing! Any more on the gremlin powered micro planes? Still love to see that micro b-17 and Lancaster😉
I have a Horizon Hobby ECX Torment, 1/18 scale and would love to see what you guys think of them considering you have a lot of experience with the Horizon Hobby brand! This new channel looks super sweet by the way!
Too funny. I just dove back into groundpounders for something to do when the weather isn't conducive to flying. A couple flying buddies and I were talking about doing FPV surface vehicles, one thing led to another and we all bought budget crawlers. Three Exceed MadTorque 1/8 scale crawlers and one Exceed Maxstone 1/5 scale crawler. I'd love to see someone whose opinion I know I could trust do a review on them and put them through their paces.
Thx y'all I ordered one today and I ordered portal axles helps keep the differential from hanging up. Y'all know👍 have fun peace out. By the way check out the redcat ridge Rock 100 bucks. Four steering functions it's a monster crawler for a tent scale it's got 2.2s on it.
I have 2 red cats rs-10 moa( motor over axle}-awesome,everest -10,-awesome,i just ordered the gen7 pro, can't wait, this brand is really excellent,i mean for what i paid for 2 of them you would spend on 1 axial, these come with metal links,axial-plastic....and so on, yeah for me it's red cat....not hating on axial, but hating their prices...great video.
Boy, I haven't done any terrestrial RC since those XMods from Radioshack. I wonder how the Abrams Tank I also used to have would have handled the snow. Looking forward to future videos and seeing the same creativity from flight test here.
I am gonna grab the Redcat Everest Gen 7 Pro (green body). Thanks for showing off the crawler in the snow. Could a front snow plow blade be made? I could use it to clean off my driveway in the winter. Ha!
I got a everest 7 pro. After about 1 week the motor quit so I got a brushless motor the CASTLE and it has more power and sounds smoother. Also I had to cut the front plastic because the wheels always rubbed on it and I extended the front bumper.
I've been happy with my Gen 8 Scout. I also was going to spend $500 on a Traxxas Bronco, but felt I didn't need the 2 speeds and micro servos for the locking diffs. Overall I am happy with my Gen 8. Doesn't have the same quality as Traxxas, but for the money it's a good choice.
Nice. I still drive my XTM Mammoth that I bought 10+ years ago. It's 90% custom upgraded. I'd drive it more but my wife says a gallon of nitro costs too much.
I suggest using the Redcat as a safe long range FPV test platform. Put a TBS crossfire and a beefy VTX on it and go for a mile or two. It can carry all the batteries you need (Li-Ion pack?), won't tip over or get stuck easily and will not smash somebody's head on a failsafe.
Nice!!! Maybe you guys can talk Bix into putting a scale drag strip, drift track and crawler course at Edgewater. Give some non AMA options for visitors :D Drive on dudes!
Hey, FAA regulations don't count for surface vehicle FPV, right? How far out of Line of Sight could you send one of these things? With a bigger battery, and that kind of range, you could have a serious adventure!
Have a request for next video?
I wanna see more of your kids they’re so cute
Get any of the Arrma 6s Stuff
Scale fpv
Painting new bodies
It'd be cool to see how much you could get them to pull up the slope - maybe after upgrades? - or an obstacle course, like one of those off-road driving experiences.
Where are its wings?
FliteTest
I don't understand this, these planes are bulky, heavy, no props, or wings. What madness is this?
on your channel...
Love this comment LOL

I got the Gen 7 pro, and after some runnings and testing i decided to turn it better with some "essential" upgrades, so i'll share my experience with you:
- Full Upgrades list:
1 - The stock Interco tires suck a bit in wet terrain and wet rocks, so i bougth some nice Proline Hyrax 1,9 tires
( excelent grip in all terrain )
2 - The Gen 7 pro its very top heavy so its prone to turnovers, removing the roof spare tire and installing some nice wideners on the wheels are a godsend
3 - I added weigth on the wheels ( 250 gr on front and 235 gr on back ), in conjunction with the hyrax, he turned into a Spider, can climb almost everything.
7 - Ill buy the Portal axles ( not mandatory ) in the future, just to complete my rig, to avoid the nuissance of small rocks scraping the punpkins
8 - ( Cosmetic ): i have a roof light bar, lights on front and back, scale acessories ( medkits and expedition box ) to replace the spare tire, and i dediced to grab a knife and cut the front sticker grille and replace it with a real palstic grille.

Your fps video pushed me over the edge and ordered a silver sport
SO is that golf course going to have an RC car section? maybe a race track and also a crawler park.
Do you know if they make after marker parts for that hot rod? Upgraded stuff and aluminum? That truck has to be the best bang for its buck.
This is very exciting to see you guys starting a new channel.
Just built a Toyota Lc45 with a RedCat Chassis. Really like the RedCat Chassis.
i have a red cat, got it 3 years ago.. i was in the shop and saw a giant rat ontop of it and slung a hammer through it, still works great lol
The Gen8 is due out soon. It has a few upgrades from the 7 like portal hubs for more ground clearance, and less torque twist
Well done! Cool to diversify! Me likey! Looking forward to the next.
Where can i get the foam board plans for these?
Have two red cat pro, love em
Redcat xte pro best purchase ever
Thx y'all I ordered one today and I ordered portal axles helps keep the differential from hanging up. Y'all know👍 have fun peace out. By the way check out the redcat ridge Rock 100 bucks. Four steering functions it's a monster crawler for a tent scale it's got 2.2s on it.
Congrats on the new channel (even though I'm a week late to the party)!
I have the Everest 10 and I love it in red
Alex & Austin - thoughts on doing a RC car/glider tow team challenge at Flite Fest this year? I'm in for sure.
I am gonna grab the Redcat Everest Gen 7 Pro (green body). Thanks for showing off the crawler in the snow. Could a front snow plow blade be made? I could use it to clean off my driveway in the winter. Ha!
So is this like the surface rc version of flitetest?
I got a everest 7 pro. After about 1 week the motor quit so I got a brushless motor the CASTLE and it has more power and sounds smoother. Also I had to cut the front plastic because the wheels always rubbed on it and I extended the front bumper.
I've been happy with my Gen 8 Scout. I also was going to spend $500 on a Traxxas Bronco, but felt I didn't need the 2 speeds and micro servos for the locking diffs. Overall I am happy with my Gen 8. Doesn't have the same quality as Traxxas, but for the money it's a good choice.
A long range FPV ground vehicle to traverse that new stomping ground you guys are headed to
The Cat is back and better than ever....... 8^)
fpv crawler time?
Great vid, it just seems like their just isn't a lot of power in those cheaper models....thanks guys
Do a custom build ? G-speed frame super shafty housings curry axles . Then scratch build the body . Would be epic to watch .
Love the video. You guys are going to cost me a fortune! You need to find an RC car kit to build!
Redcat has been around for yearsssss , they used to make nitro rcs as well.
I have a mavrick scout rc. Fpv is cool, you should try it.
Awesome video! Congrats on your new channel!
What steering servo would you recommend
Nice. I still drive my XTM Mammoth that I bought 10+ years ago. It's 90% custom upgraded. I'd drive it more but my wife says a gallon of nitro costs too much.
These are really fun guys, enjoying this channel. How about some buggy stuff?
What's the best dattery to use for trail riding and longer crwaling
I suggest using the Redcat as a safe long range FPV test platform. Put a TBS crossfire and a beefy VTX on it and go for a mile or two. It can carry all the batteries you need (Li-Ion pack?), won't tip over or get stuck easily and will not smash somebody's head on a failsafe.
Upgrade transmission gears. The stock plastic ones broke on mine within a week. Have metal ones coming.
Nice collection!
Good luck with the side channel!
Thank you!
This is going to be sweet!
RC cars and trucks are good!
Nice!!! Maybe you guys can talk Bix into putting a scale drag strip, drift track and crawler course at Edgewater. Give some non AMA options for visitors :D
Drive on dudes!
need a rock crawler course at Edgewater lol
That’s the plan!
That'll be awesome, can't wait
How fast can it go?
Hey, FAA regulations don't count for surface vehicle FPV, right? How far out of Line of Sight could you send one of these things? With a bigger battery, and that kind of range, you could have a serious adventure!
I have been waiting for this for such a long time...
I just got an axial scxii, so this channel is perfect timing. New to the hobbie too
This was surprisingly hard to find!!
I have the redcat gen 7 pro. If you put a 3s it a lot faster but you have more striped gear broken drive shafts to
