I think my favorite trees are the “Fat Albert” blue spruces. They are just perfect in my opinion. And, Laura! I wish I had half your energy!!! You and Aaron seem like a great couple (as others have said many times). And, the way you let your kids be kids is refreshing to see……rocks in pockets in the washing machine and bare feet in the mud! Such awesome memories for them 20 years from now. The relationship you have with your entire family is so inspiring. A true example of a Christ-centered family. Thank you for sharing your daily lives with the rest of us. ❤❤❤🌸🌺🙌

I think I'm married to an older version of Benjamin. Yesterday I heard some loud rattling in my dryer, opened it and found some rags drying along with a handful of rocks the same size as Benjamins! My 74-year-old husband put in the load (from an outdoor project). I sure hope Benjamin marries a patient, understanding woman!!

Love the birch grove! I planted a walnut grove many years ago. It has become a wonderful place to sit under. It is so fun to watch you work together. This was a great video. When you said you had to check the laundry, it reminded me I had laundry of my own to switch. lol. So how much bio tone do you use for these trees? It looked like quite a bit, 1/4, 1/2 a bag? It is amazing what you have done with your home and the land around it. You have created a perfect oasis for your family. Enjoy the soup, it looked wonderful! And Cornbread is a favorite!

Plane trees are the best. They are huge. We used to climb and play in ours when we were kids(I am a retired teacher now😊) Their leaves do go brown at the drop of a hat and if you pick the seeds early enough the are awesome in a Christmas dry decorations. If you pick the seeds too late they open up like a dandelion and can really make you sneeze. You can just mow over the hem and they just disappear. If collected up they make the best compost.(Cathy from Durban South Africa)

I was so laughing as you retrieved Benjamin's "Rock Collection" from the washing machine. It brought back memories of my childhood 70 some years ago. My mother was always fussing at me for having rocks in my pockets that found their way out into the washing machine. When I was a little boy it was impossible for me to pass by a "Pretty" rock if I spied one, so into my pocket it went to be added to my "Rock Collection". My Dad always said I definitely knew what they put pockets on my pants for. LOL

I truly enjoyed every element of this video. From planting all the different varieties of trees, and their placements. Benjamin's rock collection you discovered in the dryer. Keeping it real, down to yes we're busy, but there's laundry to do,meals that needs to be prepared, so ham n beans in the crockpot, with cornbread for dinner. A filling and delicious meal after a hard busy day of work, and temps are cooler so it's so satisfying. Then harvesting all the potatoes, an as you were showing the size of potatoes, how many, the variety they are,how pest help themselves to a few,but you aren't all up in the air about it,because it's nature, it's food and critters get hungry to. As you were talking my eyes were drawn to the cut flower garden, still full of color. I loved all the trees, and the color of the huge plum, the foliage color with the berries, I want one. Will be on the hunt. I already planted a crabapple this spring because I love yours. Mine is small but has berries hanging on. Aaron's smile on each tree planted touched my heart. His placement of the Birch trees close together is going to be so pretty in that spot. Can't wait to see them next year. They will have put on some growth, and we will see the look he is after. Then the pasture green with horses grazing, yes there will be awesome photos taken when the sun is coming up and rays of light scattered thru the branches of the Birch trees, any time of the year, the white fencing, green pasture with horses grazing. Maybe next year? Laura mentioned at times,it would be some years out. But I think she's ready.

The continued tree planting is looking so good. Really beautiful. Looking forward to seeing the birch trees grow, so magical.
I had one son in particular that always had pockets full of nature finds!

I have two London plane trees in my backyard, 1/3 of an acre....they are both waaaay taller than our two story house! They are glorious shade trees BUT I clean up after these trees all. Year. Long!
They shed their bark all summer, and the leaves hold on until it snows. They're at least 25 years old.
I love your work, and thank you for all you teach us!!

Love all the trees, especially the five grouped together. Awesome potato harvest... and I feel ya cause I have washed and dried plenty of rocks back in the day when my son was younger. 😊

Love that London Plane Tree! Ours was the first tree my husband and I planted on our property 35 years ago (all farmland). First to leaf out in the spring and first to loose it's leaves in the fall! It will be beautiful and very large in years to come. Great choice!

You are going to LOVE the London Planetree. We have one in our yard and they are massive and s true stunner! The bark sheds as it grows and the little balls do drop but are easy to clean up and can be used in crafts. The leaves are massive!! Love all the trees you are adding to your property. ❤

Oh my goodness, how exciting those trees going in!!! AND the potato harvest, my word! It’s on my list of things to grow next year.
You know what I would love to see is any fall clean up or cut back that you do. Especially the perennials. Anyway, thank you for sharing with us today! How did the ham and beans turn out? I bet they were yummy! 😊♥️

🌊 Aaron > Well done...Watering in those Trees! @16:55 etc. They need tons of water and some people just don't water enough. (don't like to...?)
At the Greenhouse I worked at, I was told: About 'One Gallon' of water, per foot > height / growth, when watering > Even more when First planted. Esp. Hot, dry, desert climate and soil.
And, just because it Rains (does it ever Rain there?) the Rain water will rarely reach the deeper roots on the trees. (Luckily you have a Drip system)
You are much more 'patient' than, well, let's just say some people. Haha. (Laura's mom also waters very well) I also realize some shots... when watering, are shortened / cut.

Just a thought for "framing" your view of the mountains:
Adding a section of the white fencing along the edge of the drop-off to create a support to plant the climbing roses you're moving from the south garden. It would keep it low so the mountains are visible, while adding a shield for the road & covering what you want hidden.
It could look like a garden window.
It's up to you, ofcourse, and I'm confident that whatever you plant there will be beautiful.
