Served 12 years with this outfit , made some life long friends , served in many places around the world , yep there were good times and bad , but a great experience if you get the chance , a lot different when I was in which was 75 - 87 , but love all the new stuff the guys do now , Once a Coldstreamer always a Coldstreamer , and all brothers
Was Royal Engineers 85 - 91. We had support Squadrons to the Paras and Royal Marines but still in awe of The Guards with their Infantry and Ceremonial aspects. Respect.
Once a Coldstreamer.......always a Coldstreamer. the guards are sheer class and an outfit that will stand out in front of any regiment - take anyone on and still standing (Nulli Secundus - Second To None) because we represent at the highest of levels and we carry the colours with pride (GAURDS............ BE THE BEST) SM.97/8 - 2004 -= 7 hard as fcuk years
A credit to the Guards Division. Yes, they do the ceremonial (and do it darn well), but their principle role is safeguarding our freedom and rights, and by force if necessary. It's simple: H.M. The Queen commands the Forces that make us and our Country free.
Go for what you want, but watch out for some recruiters at the arco, as they will try to jolt you into a knucklegrinding regt. But honestly, go for a trade, actually, go for the Navy or RAF, but if you're wanting to be in the thick of it, go paras or Royal Marines commandos
All 4 Services are worthy and amazing time awaits. I personally was Army, Royal Engineers. There are many artisan trades to learn, including electrician, surveyor, brickie, carpentry, and to Clerk of Works level. There's also Military Diver qualification and support Squadrons to the Paras and Royal Marines. Give the Sappers a bit of career thought.
The guy said he was on ceremonial duties on a Saturday which I presume is for 24hrs then on Sunday he was on a combat exercise that must be longer than 24hrs. That must have been a kick in the bollocks preparing all his kit last minute . I bet he wasn’t as happy as he seemed in the video!! 🤣
I saluted the Queen once during service, but I would not have anything to do with the royals now. Sadly too many veterans are ignored not just by royalty but also the Government. We have veterans with PTSD whom are homeless, and yet immigrants are given housing faster than our own. However, the CG and the RA (red arrows) are two dream roles in the forces. If you get either one of these, you are the best of the best. However, join the army and you are cannon fodder, join the RAF and you cannot go far wrong.

When u enlist to the british army, can you choose which regt you want to join or are you assigned to a regt accordingly to your capabilities?
