Coming back after getting my baby’s ears pierced, she got them done months ago but honestly I see why people don’t want to do it. Honestly I am probably not gonna do it for my next baby, it was so sad, she didn’t cry because of the pain but the piercer made us hold her down so she wouldn’t move(to get the piercing perfect) and that made her cry so much. Never again ugh, I feel so horrible and sad that she went through that. She’s a super happy baby and I’m sure she doesn’t remember but never the less it happened.

I agree there is no need to get a babies ears pierced. Also can be very dangerous at school. Children play earrings get caught, rips the ear..I have seen this many times in the schools where I have worked. I wouldn't put any child through this.

In India, especially ancient India, it was also customary for boys to get it done. According to Ayurveda, it stimulates certain pressure points in the ear (so does nose piercing), that is probably where the tradition is rooted in. This is not intended for fashion/accessorising (although many people may have forgotten where there tradition is rooted in, due to which they may pierce the ears of the kid without understanding the scientific reason behind it). The reason it is done at a young age is because: 1. The pressure point is to be stimulated as soon as possible. 2. Young children (especially babies) wouldn't remember a small second of pain such as this after a while. 3. Wound heals faster in the bodies of young. 4. Jewellery of non-reactive/ nutritious metal, usually such as gold or silver (or even neem wood needle) is put through the piercing, which also gives the child/ person nourishment of the metal (very similar to how it is recommended to consume food cooked in/ plated in materials such as gold/ silver/ brass/ bronze/ copper/ earth/ medicinal wood). +other reasons idk about because I don't know much ancient Indian Medicine. Also, piercing on the lobe doesn't hurt that much, and the pain doesn't last for that long- baby or no baby. The point of the culture is not intended to be the equivalent of dressing up/ tattooing, don't worry.

Also can be very dangerous at school. Children play earrings get caught, rips the ear..I have seen this many times in the schools where I have worked.

Thanks for your concern towards this kid.. Don't worry, it is a tradition in Asia/India/Middle-East, most people get it at a young age only. In India, especially ancient India, it was also customary for boys to get it done. According to Ayurveda, it stimulates certain pressure points in the ear (so does nose piercing), that is probably where the tradition is rooted in. This is not intended for fashion/accessorising (although many people may have forgotten where there tradition is rooted in, due to which they may pierce the ears of the kid without understanding the scientific reason behind it). The reason it is done at a young age is because: 1. The pressure point is to be stimulated as soon as possible. 2. Young children (especially babies) wouldn't remember a small second of pain such as this after a while. 3. Wound heals faster in the bodies of young. 4. Jewellery of non-reactive/ nutritious metal, usually such as gold or silver (or even neem wood needle) is put through the piercing, which also gives the child/ person nourishment of the metal (very similar to how it is recommended to consume food cooked in/ plated in materials such as gold/ silver/ brass/ bronze/ copper/ earth/ medicinal wood). +other reasons idk about because I don't know much ancient Indian Medicine. Also, piercing on the lobe doesn't hurt that much, and the pain doesn't last for that long- baby or no baby. The point of the culture is not intended to be the equivalent of dressing up/ tattooing, don't worry.
