I came in second place at the 1981 Space Invaders competition in Toronto. I won dinner for four at an Italian restaurant. I was addicted to this game from 80-82.
Cant wait to get this for arcade 1up next month. Having an actual arcade cabinet rather than just playing it on a tv will really bring back the memories.
How i remember Space Invaders! I originally played The INTELLVISION version "SPACE ARMADA"! Those aliens & UFO really bug me they're just move side to side dropping bombs & other fiendish devices! Challenging fun really obsessed with this game comedic as well. Enjoyed watching! 👍👏👏👏👏👏🤣🤣🤣
Love this we had ia tabletop pint top in a bar I worked in in the 90's when I was in 20's. One of the regulars taught me. You can play two games: count # numbers for the 300 satelite for points, or just go and shoot columns as they come and try to get as far as possible. I got as far as level 14/15 nerves shredded lol. 4/5/6 are identical and 7/8/9 too by 10 I was wrecked and I think they were back to normal but I was so stressed I just made it a few more levels.

Ahhh yes.. This brings up memories.. My mom used to send me to buy some milk, but i always spent the change playing this until she arrived for me and the milk xD. It was either this jewel or mario what i used to play 💙
I've started to play this recently, for the first time since the early 80's. It's tedious firing a certain number of shots to get 300 points for the saucer. I've played loads of games recently and I only get 150 points max. Also it's not good exploiting the fact the invaders don't drop bombs in the bottom row. Just shoot them as they come, it's more exciting!

@@kernzyp Hay una tienda especial en Sitges Barcelona donde hace un par de años ví que vendían y seguirán vendiendo supongo una máquina Space Invaders que funciona con moneda o dispositivo botón IGUAL en tamaño y características que las que había en los bares,salas de recreativos de entonces por unos 1500€ para nostálgicos empedernidos que se pueden hinchar de jugar sin hartarse y quizá sentir viajar en el tiempo con esas sonoridades y gráficos que tanto nos embobaban,una moneda de 25 pesetas del Rey Juan Carlos de 1975 tenía la culpa para que se pudiese jugar Y hace un montón de años por 2004 me pasó un informático que conocí Javier un cd recopilatorio llamado MAME donde se pueden jugar al ordenador con un joystick adecuado a unos 2000 juegos digamos todos todísimos que nos acompañaron tantos años no sólo Space Invaders sino los 1os de lucha,de football,de baloncesto,de carreras de coches, de submarinismo de atletismo com gráficos traperos pero se recuerdan y se disfrutan emocionan,por esos años los volví a sentir y revivir con el ordenador pero al poco tiempo me cansé y por ahí tengo los cds MAME,las consolas Philips y Atari de los años 82,83 las vendí hace años en una mudanza que tuve y los cartuchos todo aunque la Philips videopac que tuve tantos años la ví el otro día en un cash converters con algunos cartuchos por unos 110€ coleccionistas siempre habrá Esa consola me la compraron en el 82 con juegos como el 14 de vaqueros, el 43 el minero Pedro Piqueta estaba enamorado de ese juego de las minas,el space invaders de un cangrejo mecánico y sus filas de robotijo,otro de soldados,todos los tiré y regalé yo que sé los cartuchos Atari igual pero tenía más predilección por esas minimáquinas que iban con pilas normales y eran de Pac Man amarillas con gráficos verdes,de Space Invaders como las de los bares pero minis de unos 20 o 25 cms alto con su palanqueita y botones y estaba enamorado de ellas pero eran muy caras y no las tenía, cuando en clase se las traían los alumnos padecía de envidia de esto hace la friolera de 40 años 1982 en 4o o 5o de aquella EGB ahora rozo los 50
I remember the first time I saw this game, the screen was black and white. There was a color filter with different color stripes to give the feeling of the color on the screen.

I finally found another video that went up to Level 9 and for the Taito version, the alien setup is the same for the first three boards, but changes for Levels 4/5, 6/7, and 8/9. Nasty versions I might add.
does any one remember space invaders part 3 ,it had a timer set on set 3 and the invaders didn't move and set 7,8,9 the invaders looked different, there is nothing on the net about part 3 ,or even part 4 where the invaders split but you didnt know which ones would like in part 2 and the space ship across the top fires at you

I've never seen part 3 except a clone on MAME called 'Space War Part 3" with slightly altered graphics and a faster shot from the player but mostly like the first version of Space Invaders
Kernzy P it’s harder because the blinking saucer is only worth 200 points and the 20 point aliens split on the second wave instead of the fourth wave. I popped a 5,900 on the harder version after 25 plus years of not playing it at my local retro arcade. I was pleased and I’m looking to get to 10K and beyond.
it is very close...Midway's Deluxe Space Invaders was very similar to Taito's version...Midway had a B/W screen with colored overlays and the game had the modified formations starting on level 2 instead of 4...also the flashing saucer was worth only 200 points instead of 500...although the game attract screen said "Space Invaders Part II"

If you left one full row to last then killed the invaders from the top and left the bottom one till last you used to get extra points and some sort of rainbow effect it was hard as you had to angle your shots from the side anybody remember this ? Also what we called counting to get the best possible score from the spaceships i'm from the uk and it was a taito machine i played.
This player seemed way too concerned about shooting the flying saucers and too little concerned about the swarm of aliens descending on his a$$. But in the end, I think s/he played about as well as I used to in the arcade. I never got to the point where I was sweeping away legions of these beasts easily.

The Deluxe Midway version is much harder because the blinking saucers yield only 200 points instead of 500 and the splitting aliens start at level 2.
I had this on Atari and it had a glitch that made my canon fire two rounds per push of the button like a forced reset trigger. I still got over ran.
