    I just bought a Super Clod Buster off of Walmart's site for a lil less than 340. Been wanting one since the original came out.

    Dual brushless motors it’s now race ready, got the cpe chassis, that’s one awesome Clodbuster. I just joined a race group n have my clod in the retro class, but I’m gonna build a clod with cpe or zrp chassis for one of my others then I’ve got the redcat ground pounder done up, so I’ll have one in retro,sport mod, pro mod.

      Some guys use the traxxas evl-2 in think for the emaxx with dual motor set up, but that might be for just dual brushed motors not sure if that could do dual brushless

      @TheTechBuyersGuru  6 лет назад

      Stevo, I have some bad news for you - my Ground Pounder bit the dust. The Castle brushless motor was just too much for the drivetrain. Mine blew a bearing, which led the gears and (upgraded steel) driveshafts to chew themselves up, and I decided to pull the electronics for a new project (which you'll see soon!!!). Check your GP often for slop between the driveshafts and the gearboxes, especially if you'll be racing with it.

      The Tech Buyer's Guru ya the guys in the group have told me I can put the smt10 trans in it, so I might end up doing that, but right now, I’ve still never ran the truck since I built it, but Oct 7th will be my first race day

    Thanks for sharing, I bought the black edition today online here in Oz, should have during the next week. But my mind has already been ticking about more speed, without being ridiculous.
    I was thinking of some lower turned brushed motors? I have used some cheap Hobbywing plain box brushless systems in my Kyosho re-releases that I’m yet to run. They are buggies though and obviously have a lower centre of gravity. I don’t want to be constantly turning this beast back onto it’s wheels ever few minutes. I’m not planning on many if any other real hop ups, hence my hesitation to follow your setup. Did you run anything similar prior to the awesome amount of mods that’s obviously able to handle brushless like your chassis and suspension mods.

      Congrats on picking up that Black Edition! It looks awesome, and gives people another reason to own the one and only Clod Buster! I actually ran dual Kyosho 24T brushed motors in the Clod before going brushless. You can see a running video of that here: ruclips.net/video/rwwk_A8uue8/видео.html. Also ran dual 15T brushed for a while, and it was nearly as fast as the dual 3300Kv brushless I eventually went with. If you don't change the chassis, though, handling is going to be a weak point, so I'd recommend going no hotter than a couple of 19T motors, which will give you a nice speed boost while still being within reason for the stock chassis. Team Associated has some new brushed motors that look great for the price - here's the 19T model: amzn.to/3bldgbp. Note that you should avoid popular 550-can motors. They won't fit.

    • @adammichelini1
      @adammichelini1 4 года назад

      Those 19T motors look great. Any modification on the clod necessary? Thanks.

      @@TheTechBuyersGuru Would you be able to confirm those Team Associated 19T motors will work on the Clod, and is it easy to reverse one of them?

    • @TheTechBuyersGuru
      @TheTechBuyersGuru  4 года назад +2

      I haven't tested them, but I've run many other brushed motors, from 15T to 24T, in the Clod, and they all work great. 15T translated to 15mph, 24T was 11mph, so 19T should be right in the middle. And you don't need to reverse them, you just can't modify the timing.

    I'm sitting here looking at a pair or JPS dual motor cases, thats right..4 motors, I guess I would go 4 brushed motors and 2 esc's. I've had these cases in storage for a couple decades..I cant even find a pic, or even reference off the net. If I remember, I ordered these from JPS, maybe one of the last things they did

      Go for it! One thing you might try is getting a Hobbywing combo. Those ESCs I used are actually Hobbywing rebrands, so you can just get this combo with a 3300kV motor: www.amainhobbies.com/hobbywing-ezrun-max10-sensorless-brushless-esc-3652sl-motor-combo-3300kv-hwa38010203/p713296

    Brought a clod 2 months ago but not built yet...do you need 2 ESC's?.

    • @TheTechBuyersGuru
      @TheTechBuyersGuru  3 года назад

      You absolutely need two ESCs if you are using brushless. No way to do it otherwise. If you are using brushed, you can run one ESC.

  • @FLeXn_YT

    I will be applying this to my redcat clawback which comes with dual brushed motors and a 60 amp esc (dual motor ready). I've been thinking on how to convert to a dual brushless motor using a single esc but cannot find one. But I've been told that the traxxas xl-5 can, not sure how true that is but I'm not willing to take that risk. Maybe 2 esc with a Y harness into a single channel might work!? But then how do u calibrate it to one single receiver/transmitter?

    • @TheTechBuyersGuru
      @TheTechBuyersGuru  4 года назад

      Glad you found this tutorial helpful. The Clawback (amzn.to/2DhsYpc) looks like a ton of fun, and it would be even better with brushless power! With that said, I can guarantee you there's no way to do that with one ESC. But honestly, the system I show in this video works perfectly. Two ESCs wired with a Y-harness into one channel on the receiver is no problem. You calibrate the ESCs independently, not through the receiver.

    Great job 👍🏻 those motors made that thing move!

    • @TheTechBuyersGuru
      @TheTechBuyersGuru  6 лет назад

      The CPE chassis could probably handle even more speed, but I don't want to risk flipping it and messing the body up!

  • @chrisfossum1499

    I’m trying to setup my clod with the exact electronics. I’m not able to get the two ESC’s running at the same time. I have them y-harness, but Im only getting one of the ESC’s running at a time. Both light up, but only one motor runs at a time.
    Any suggestions?

    • @TheTechBuyersGuru
      @TheTechBuyersGuru  4 года назад

      If both light up, they're both getting power, but not the receiver signal. Check your wiring again. I'm assuming that if you switch which ESC is plugged into which side of the y-harness, the other ESC will start working. Try that, and it will show that the y-harness is the issue, otherwise one ESC may not be working. To test that, just take the y-harness out of the loop and connect both ESCs directly to the receiver one at a time to test if they work.

      Not sure you can get much cheaper at this point, but comparable quality would be a couple of these Hobbywing combos: www.amainhobbies.com/hobbywing-ezrun-max10-sensorless-brushless-esc-3652sl-motor-combo-3300kv-hwa38010203/p713296

      It's a pretty high kV for a Clod, that's getting close to what's used in racing, so you'd need a very dialed in custom chassis or you'll be flipping a lot. You might also have some low torque off the line, because those aren't actually racing motors. It looks like there's a 3500kV combo, that would probably be better. Either way, the you can use any remote as long as you have the splitters listed in the video description.

      Using plastic gears, but upgraded the pinion to Robinson Racing steel. The gears in the Clod gearbox are super-wide, very durable. You really don't need to upgrade them to metal.
