I loved Norm's calls to Dennis Miller where he would do this feigned ventriloquist act. Dennis would always bring up his crotchety old dummy, asking how that was going and Norm would always protest about being asked to "take him out of the bag". Old Alec Magerison or some such name as I recall. Norm would always say he didn't like working with that dummy because the dummy was a holocaust denier. Nobody could extract funny out of absurdity like Norm!

I think Adam Eget told a story on Matt and Shane's podcast that Norm went to Bob Dylan's house one night and they stayed up all night talking. Really makes you wonder if the guy had a doghouse.

In the past, he has said he doesn’t like doing podcasts, but he has been in comedy forever, and has good stories & anecdotes. Recently, he’s made the rounds, and in the right setting (like this one), we get to hear some great conversations about the environment business. He also seems to be down to earth, and just a normal dude. His reluctance to over share, or even consider himself a celebrity, is why he’s held in high regard by other comics, and the fans of this type of content.
If you enjoyed this I’d recommend listening to Colin’s appearances on Opie and Anthony. He kills with Norton and Patrice. There’s even an episode with Colin and Norm on O and A although it’s pretty short (like half an hour)

A lot of hilarious conversations that went with them just being themselves. I’m from Baltimore, and during those prime O&A years, I was listening to Don & Mike. I only knew about O&A from the minor beef those shows had. Several years ago, and especially during the pandemic, I started listening to the O&A stuff on yt. Not sure if I’ve already heard the Quinn episodes, but I’ll check them out.

He told jokes from an old joke book from the 1940s. People keep calling it brilliant. It was different. At the end of the day, he's still there to entertain. From what Bob said they had to cut a LOT of it out because it almost every joke was bombing. Is it brilliant to intentionally bomb? I don't think so (maybe if you're making a specific point). Is it brilliant to retell someone else's jokes? Definitely not. Is it interesting to use a totally different approach? For sure. What he did was definitely interesting. Comics liked it more than the audience. I think there's something to that.
I think he was fully aware it was a possibility, that's why he recorded that last "special" beforehand at his own house to get it on video in case he didn't make it.

A couple of things about Norm and being Canadian. 1. He has one brother, a very well renowned journalist. 2. Canadians in general do not react to celebrities in the same fashion as Americans. 3. Norm's comedy is very much Canadian in its silliness.
Norm has so many hilarious legendary moments however my all time fav has gota be when he got kicked out of the state by the gov for a lude set in front of school kids and the elderly LOL that story just kills me how totally outraged everyone was and he couldnt give a flying fuck as usual haha
