Brent dives deeper into the classical system laying out the history and 3 quick fixes for building better: Entasis in columns- meaning columns should taper. How to use dentils, where they go and their size. Finally, the beam vs. column placement + size. Brent also breaks out of how mouldings change based on the size of the room. Also - a quick system for laying out the mouldings in a room.

Brent is single-handedly shaming McMansion owners everywhere. A most noble gesture, definately. 😄

Brent I'm looking for an Architech to help me build my dream home. Who would you recommend to do quality work that you just shared with us here.

Yay!! I love Palladio, Inigo Jones, Christopher Wren, Colen Campbell, and John Nash, to name just a few of my favorites. Of course, in my case, I really want to spread the beauty of the Georgian style. "From Bauhaus to Our House" -- yucko and not on my watch. Equally bad are the attempts to slap up some pseudo-classical elements in a butchering of proportion like some you illustrated. Those are ludicrous examples of "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing" where the designer only succeeded in creating an embarrassingly ignorant and ill-proportioned garish pastiche.
Brent, you're an amazing fount of great information and a national treasure!!!! MORE like this, please, good Sir.

Bravo Rabbit! Even as a teenager, I just sensed friend's parents McMansions were messed up.
Some might call it Artistic License...but when it makes you look around bewildered... no thank you

The column in your warehouse appears devoid of entasis. :|
anyhoo, I agree with Brent about the terrible use of classical style columns in modern homes/buildings.

Hey Brent! Fantastic series of videos for this subtle craft we choose to pursue! I was wondering.. in the beginning of this video there is a quick shot of a mini column with its Corinthian capital. Looks like the capital may be about less than 6” in height. Where can I get some nice wooden samples of all the classical order capitals that are miniature in scale like that one? It looks wonderfully carved! As an ICAA member I should probably know this, but just hoping for a quick tip or better direction. Not sure if you guys manufacture these little guys. Thanks Brent!

Is it acceptable to use two orders on the exterior of a house? I like dentils (which I understand belong to the Ionic order) but like the shape and proportion of Doric columns. Also, is the order used on the house exterior brought inside and applied rigidly to the interior molding dimensions?
