I used to love the whole process of burning wood and that is how we heated our place for the first 32 years but finally at 65 years old it became more of a chore than I was willing or able to do so we have moved on. Since I always cut my own wood off our property, it really only cost me my time and effort. Now it’s about a $2,000 expense to heat the cabin but my body appreciates the change. Homestead looks good Kevin, always something to keep us busy. I’ve been working on reclaiming my food plots lately, now just need some rain in the forecast so I can plant. Looking forward to whatever you bring us.
Yeah, I know what you mean, Don. All my friends are a few years older, and they tell me the time is coming. I think my loads of wood will get smaller in time, but I'm gonna see how far I can go with it. Then again, a man could spend more time fishing!
I'm in Central Texas and we have summer....one day of fall, one day of spring and then back to summer. 117 degree heat index yesterday. Winter is scarce here. 😅
Man, that is smoking hot! Heat wave is moving north, I hear. We usually get cool nights here in the Highlands, which helps a lot. Thanks for tuning in my friend. See you on the next video!
I sure appreciate your support, Dave. Project #1 is to see how much food we can grow before the snow flies. Hope you are having a great week, my friend. See you soon!
No need to take a vacation...i just watch your videos! The homestead looks great Kevin. As we both know, that lifestyle sure keeps a body busy in the pursuit of self sufficientcy. But its worth all the work to live in peace and quiet, surrounded by the beauty of Mother Nature. Looking forward to your upcoming adventures at the West Fork Homestead!
Plenty of peace and quiet, Pinepuppy. I would never be able to hold down a real job anymore. Success is measured differently out here, as you know. I hope you are blessed with a bountiful harvest out there on your homestead. See you soon in the tater patch!
You definitely have a lot of work ahead of you my friend. If I wasn’t 2900 miles away I’d darn sure be right there helping you split and stack! Really beautiful place you got there and thanks for the tour. Hope everything goes your way and the work gets done in good time. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the new campsite already. Thanks for the update and God bless you brother.
Howdy Shane. I know for sure you would be a great wood cutting partner. I closed down the broom shop for a spell, so we can focus on homestead stuff. I'm actually really looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and breaking a good sweat. The new campsite is going to be cool. It's a real peaceful little spot, and you can hear the creek. I sure appreciate you, my friend. Have a blessed week!
That's great to hear, Mr. Mo. Man, it's been a cool wet spring over here. I don't mind at all, but the garden season is pretty short. I have more videos to catch up on over at your channel. I love them all. Have a great week, my friend!
I look forward to any content from your slice of heaven. I fully understand your need to prep early. While we still struggle after Hurricane Ian, we also are prepping for what "they" say will be the worst year yet. May your gardens be full, your Current wine be potent, and the fawns many.
Thank you for the kind words, Henry. You can't be too prepared now days. You are wise to stay vigilant. We're hoping for bountiful harvest, and wish you all good things this year!
It’s all good. Too much nonsense, hype and baloney on RUclips these days. Your keeping it real is good. I enjoy your channel a lot for that reason. Blessings to you!
You've a lot of work ahead but even so I'm looking forward to the videos. If I understood correctly you manufacture brooms so you'll have to show us some of them as well, I've never heard of anyone make brooms before. We don't have trees so wood isn't really an option but there's still work to be done on the croft, this video from nearly 2 years back shows Molly Dog doing some of her training: ruclips.net/video/L1qKaJXaRpo/видео.htmlsi=94SZFf97si5We_BE I work "away" so I'm not always on the croft, my girlfriend and her brother work it rather than me, but in one sense croft life is similar to your life - most people have 4 or 5 jobs - and in another sense the environment is totally different. Folks on the Isle of Lewis cut "peat" for warmth, in view of the lack of wood. This is basically vegetation that is compacted and half way to becoming coal. This video is low quality but shows some folk up in the village of Ness bringing their peats home: ruclips.net/video/Cm9K1Jy2KEE/видео.htmlsi=FYYuNCIK0qSx05rc
Yes we are a mom and pop broom shop. We shall visit the shop in a future video. Thank you for the links. I'll check them out! Be well my friend. God bless.
Beautiful place you have there.
I hope you are well, my friend. I miss your videos. If you ever make any more, be sure to let me know!
