I love them. I keep meaning to ask if it hurts his algorithm if we stop and come back to it later sometimes or don’t watch it right away and save it for a rainy day. I don’t want to hurt the impression algorithm, but I love the long form videos for when I’m feeling bad or down and just need a break from everything. They’re my favorite. He’s so soothing.

our local village phonebox is a book swap shop... its filled with books, ive found quite a few treasures and left boxes of my own inside it. BT keeps putting a sticker up asking ppl to stop but nobody pays attention. I think its a good way of keeping the box in use, they've taken all the others away
When electro plating, always use rubber or latex gloves when handling the metal part. That way you don't introduce any oil from you hands to the part. Also if you'll have a go at this again, it needs to be bare metal. Not cleaned, scrubbed. It needs to be BARE. So power tools with a wire wheel are good, acetone, disolve the oxides. Combo to get to bare metal everywhere and then use gloves.
I have found that many people used to varnish brass - plated or otherwise(i assume to save the effort of regular polushing to prevent tarnishing.. i live in a victorian townhouse and the doors have the original solid brass knobs... to my horror i found they had all been varnished... which has now been removed and they are beautiful

With most RUclips channels that I follow, I'd usually be put off by a 1hr 40 min video, because they would be very repetitive. It's the complete opposite with random stuff from Atomic Shrimp. It's varied and highly relaxing to watch. It's like getting a month of Shrimpy videos in one go. Wonderful stuff. Thank you Mike, you're really spoiling us.
The band in the marketplace was an unexpected hit of nostalgia. I used to play in my local community band with my dad, and we'd sometimes do outdoor concerts. He passed a few years back, in between Christmas and New Years. Hearing the outdoor trumpets really took me back there. :)

If you want to be overjoyed one day, Mike, then ask a restaurant where they know you if you can tour their prep kitchen fridge. I can tell you from experience working in kitchens that most of the onions will be the size of coconuts, many of the carrots will be girthier than your wrist, and the potatoes will regularly weigh pounds. Almost all the general-use produce in restaurants is *huge*. It's like they do all their shopping at veggie-size competitions.
I looked up what might have happened with the restoration; apparently, when too much charge/ too much copper (not quite sure) saturates the copper sulfate, creating copper sulfate pentahydrate crystals. Amazing vid as always :)
Also to fix voltage issue physically move the electrode away from the handle will add resistance and reduce current witch is what you want if you cat make the voltage less, also may make it more even. Also when I last tried something like this the solution was a bit darker than glass cleaner if that helps, yours looks way darker but could be camera. Also a battery cell AA C D etc might work better as a buck regulator might be putting spikes of voltage during the conversion.

What a lovely assortment of random stuff! I love broadbeans, 😋but I never had them so late in the year. Here in Germany, we have to sow 🌱them early, or they will be vulnerable to aphis fabae (the black bean aphid). Maybe that´s why your earwig was such a whopper, because earwigs feed on aphids. The earwig 🏆should get a prize, for tending your beans so well. Do you also have a lot of 🐞 ladybugs? What a bountieful garden you have. 🥒🥒 If you drown in courgettes, you can try this recepy: dice the courgettes, season them with garlic, rosmary and thyme, grill them, and put the in a jar with olive oil. Keeps for months. It´s a delicious Antipasti, and very nice spread on toast in winter. By the way, the thistle´s name is not "quercus robur", it´s "carduus nutans". "Quercus robur "is an oak. Just what I needed! An evening in the company of Mike, Jenny and Eva. What better way to spend a cool, New Zealand, Spring night, especially when isolated from others due to a second bout of the plague! Thank you, Mike, for showing me places I went as a child, regularly. Barely a Summer passed without going to the swannery in Abbotsbury, and more than once we made our way up to St Catherine's Chapel, past that amazing plane tree! Back then, 50 years or so ago, it wasn't quite so huge, but its shape made it very impressive. My brothers used to look for the 'fruits' and torment us with itching powder for weeks after! You also made me realise that our family foraged for basic extras, to enhance our garden produce; watercress, nettles, berries, mushrooms, nuts - in season, we'd go and gather what we needed. Our diet was definitely rich and varied, eating what many others passed by and didn't see or realise was edible!
I bought a can of Farrows Marrowfat peas from a supermarket here in Australia and we had them with lamb’s fry with bacon and onion grave and mashed spuds yesterday. They were DELICIOUS! i live in havant / portsmouth / south of uk and our house hold have been planting for afew years now. last year we turned our front garden into a patch to grow pumpkins (only a small garden) because i live inbetween 2 schools, a small farm, and some country park gardens there are alot of school kids walking past my house all the time. and because they are seeing all the pumpkin growing stages its just amazing to hear them stop and say stuff like "wow look at the size of that one, ooh theres one over here," even adults stop for a while to take a look and its just makes me soo happy to hear it

Love the video. Just thought I'd say that the reason bronze was so popular on door handles is because bronze is antimicrobial so by it's very nature it kills germs which makes it ideal for handles which get a lot of people touching them. This goes for copper and it's assorted alloys too. Just something I learned not long ago that I thought I'd share.

I had some russets sprouting in my pantry last April so I tossed them in the garden. I’m shocked over how many potatoes I’m digging up now. And they taste amazing!

Happy to find this in a blah patch of weather.I enjoy using the big dry white Limas for Butter Beans but I detest green Limas so I have used Broad Beans to replace them.I am guessing American yams aka sweet potatoes are not common over there because the times I have seen English people try them they were freaked out.I have used iron phosphate pellet bait for slug invasions but British laws are so weird those might be illegal.In the US it is used in organic gardening.My favorite recipe for courgettes is cut green and yellow ones like you did,cut red or green or yellow bell peppers in chunks about the same size,add about 6 large peeled, blanched garlic cloves.Drizzle with EVOO and a sprinkle a bit of salt,toss and roast in the oven til just tender.Dump in a big bowl and drizzle herbed vinegar or a tasty type of vinegar like cider or wine and minced herbs,toss.Chopped nuts can be added for crunch if you can eat them or Piñons (pine nuts) if you have them.Season if needed .Serve as a hot side or chill and serve as a sort of salad.

I like your almost replated door handles. I'm pretty happy with old things that have a patina. If they're clean and still working it's ok if they're not perfect. Stuff that's too new in an old house is kind of jarring, where the older bits are really interesting. Also loved the band on market day. I'd get in all kinds of trouble in the antique stalls!

I love the beach walk videos so much. I'm from North Cornwall where, exactly as you say, it's mostly sheer cliffs and very craggy, but there are a good few sandy coves, and the waves can get fairly rough: I went to Brighton to visit friends once and was taken aback to see how flat the water was, and that there was NO sand to be found! You've probably been, but if you haven't, I highly recommend the walks around Morwenstow. There's one lovely short circuit that goes from the church, past Hawker's Hut, and through a valley that I'm really fond of - I walked it a lot growing up because my grandmother loved going on walks and was more or less a scholar on Hawker and his life! There's some beautiful forest along a footpath that goes parallel to the Vicarage, too, which I mostly remember walking along for an Easter egg hunt my grandparents set up for me. I don't tend to visit there any more because my grandparents moved out of the Vicarage, but your videos often make me kind of nostalgic for the walks around there, even if the plants and beaches differ a little, especially now I live in a city up country!

Wonderful stuff again. The walk from Weymouth to Bowleaze Cove was a trip down memory lane for me. When I was little my parents would always 'set up camp' on the beach in line with the Victorian clock so that I'd be able to find them. As a young adult I slept overnight in one of those semi-open beach huts so I could catch the early ferry to France in the morning, and I've slept under the now truncated pier back before they blew it up. Myself and a few friends would travel down to Weymouth from south Somerset, tour the local pubs before ending up in a basement nightclub. We'd then crash out under the pier, grab breakfast at a cafe in the morning then head home. Happy days

I grew up in Cornwall and now live in Scarborough. In both places I have my choice of stony and sandy beaches! North bay here is pebbly and south bay is sandy. But back in Cornwall, my father would take me and my sisters out on his boat and explore for tiny sandy coves that we could have entirely to ourselves; those days were honestly magical and I'm thankful you've caused me to think of them. ☺️

I'm reminded of a book I read repeatedly back in middle school: "Wasp Farm." I forget the author, but I believe it was published sometime in the 70's, and it had a cover like a stained glass window. It was mostly lessons on ecology and the biology of wasps, but had a conversational, at times poetic tone, and I loved returning to it again and again.

I grew up in Dorset, but my family were not walkers and so with many of those places , although I've driven through them many times, I've never been able to explore them properly. Thank you so much.
On your frog problem,possibly a mesh barrier would stop them falling in while admitting light ,moisture and air for the plants.There are all types from chicken wire or plastic to some that are that nice copper you liked.As for any that get in,I am not sure frogs would climb out of a favorable area,not being the brightest bulbs in the chandelier,but there is info on live catch frog traps including a Cambodian lady who has a couple videos of a very simple one that you could possibly use.I believe she was probably catching them to eat but she did want them alive .
Some of the frogs finding their way in there are really small - I think if we had mesh with a small enough gauge to keep those out, it would quickly get covered up with leaves; in truth, I don't mind the frogs being there - I just want them to be able to get out of that area if they need to

We call them earwigs in Texas too! They're very abundant. In Texas they have a powerful pinch, but I understand in other places they don't.

With most RUclips channels that I follow, I'd usually be put off by a 1hr 40 min video, because they would be very repetitive. It's the complete opposite with random stuff from Atomic Shrimp. It's varied and highly relaxing to watch. It's like getting a month of Shrimpy videos in one go. Wonderful stuff. Thank you Mike, you're really spoiling us.
The band in the marketplace was an unexpected hit of nostalgia. I used to play in my local community band with my dad, and we'd sometimes do outdoor concerts. He passed a few years back, in between Christmas and New Years. Hearing the outdoor trumpets really took me back there. :)
I am currently 21 and when i get older and finish work for good i hope i am lucky enough to go on adventures and admire nature like you do, honestly you have inspired me to go to so many places already, watching your videos makes me feel so happy and warm especially when nature is involved

If you want to be overjoyed one day, Mike, then ask a restaurant where they know you if you can tour their prep kitchen fridge. I can tell you from experience working in kitchens that most of the onions will be the size of coconuts, many of the carrots will be girthier than your wrist, and the potatoes will regularly weigh pounds. Almost all the general-use produce in restaurants is *huge*. It's like they do all their shopping at veggie-size competitions.
I looked up what might have happened with the restoration; apparently, when too much charge/ too much copper (not quite sure) saturates the copper sulfate, creating copper sulfate pentahydrate crystals. Amazing vid as always :)

Also to fix voltage issue physically move the electrode away from the handle will add resistance and reduce current witch is what you want if you cat make the voltage less, also may make it more even. Also when I last tried something like this the solution was a bit darker than glass cleaner if that helps, yours looks way darker but could be camera. Also a battery cell AA C D etc might work better as a buck regulator might be putting spikes of voltage during the conversion.

What a lovely assortment of random stuff! I love broadbeans, 😋but I never had them so late in the year. Here in Germany, we have to sow 🌱them early, or they will be vulnerable to aphis fabae (the black bean aphid). Maybe that´s why your earwig was such a whopper, because earwigs feed on aphids. The earwig 🏆should get a prize, for tending your beans so well. Do you also have a lot of 🐞 ladybugs? What a bountieful garden you have. 🥒🥒 If you drown in courgettes, you can try this recepy: dice the courgettes, season them with garlic, rosmary and thyme, grill them, and put the in a jar with olive oil. Keeps for months. It´s a delicious Antipasti, and very nice spread on toast in winter. By the way, the thistle´s name is not "quercus robur", it´s "carduus nutans". "Quercus robur "is an oak. Thank you for the lovely glimpses of nature you share. 🌼 Your videos are such a comfort on days I can´t go outside.

Just what I needed! An evening in the company of Mike, Jenny and Eva. What better way to spend a cool, New Zealand, Spring night, especially when isolated from others due to a second bout of the plague! Thank you, Mike, for showing me places I went as a child, regularly. Barely a Summer passed without going to the swannery in Abbotsbury, and more than once we made our way up to St Catherine's Chapel, past that amazing plane tree! Back then, 50 years or so ago, it wasn't quite so huge, but its shape made it very impressive. My brothers used to look for the 'fruits' and torment us with itching powder for weeks after!
You also made me realise that our family foraged for basic extras, to enhance our garden produce; watercress, nettles, berries, mushrooms, nuts - in season, we'd go and gather what we needed. Our diet was definitely rich and varied, eating what many others passed by and didn't see or realise was edible!
I bought a can of Farrows Marrowfat peas from a supermarket here in Australia and we had them with lamb’s fry with bacon and onion grave and mashed spuds yesterday. They were DELICIOUS! On my list for my next grocery shop. Thanks for telling us about them. 🫛🫛🫛🫛

i live in havant / portsmouth / south of uk and our house hold have been planting for afew years now. last year we turned our front garden into a patch to grow pumpkins (only a small garden) because i live inbetween 2 schools, a small farm, and some country park gardens there are alot of school kids walking past my house all the time. and because they are seeing all the pumpkin growing stages its just amazing to hear them stop and say stuff like "wow look at the size of that one, ooh theres one over here," even adults stop for a while to take a look and its just makes me soo happy to hear it

That bugloss is such a pretty and fascinating looking plant! I don't think I've ever seen one like it, and I absolutely love it!
Love the video. Just thought I'd say that the reason bronze was so popular on door handles is because bronze is antimicrobial so by it's very nature it kills germs which makes it ideal for handles which get a lot of people touching them. This goes for copper and it's assorted alloys too. Just something I learned not long ago that I thought I'd share.
Any time my partner and I see a super long video for the day, we call it a "Preponderance of Prawn."

I had some russets sprouting in my pantry last April so I tossed them in the garden. I’m shocked over how many potatoes I’m digging up now. And they taste amazing!

Happy to find this in a blah patch of weather.I enjoy using the big dry white Limas for Butter Beans but I detest green Limas so I have used Broad Beans to replace them.I am guessing American yams aka sweet potatoes are not common over there because the times I have seen English people try them they were freaked out.I have used iron phosphate pellet bait for slug invasions but British laws are so weird those might be illegal.In the US it is used in organic gardening.My favorite recipe for courgettes is cut green and yellow ones like you did,cut red or green or yellow bell peppers in chunks about the same size,add about 6 large peeled, blanched garlic cloves.Drizzle with EVOO and a sprinkle a bit of salt,toss and roast in the oven til just tender.Dump in a big bowl and drizzle herbed vinegar or a tasty type of vinegar like cider or wine and minced herbs,toss.Chopped nuts can be added for crunch if you can eat them or Piñons (pine nuts) if you have them.Season if needed .Serve as a hot side or chill and serve as a sort of salad.

I like your almost replated door handles. I'm pretty happy with old things that have a patina. If they're clean and still working it's ok if they're not perfect. Stuff that's too new in an old house is kind of jarring, where the older bits are really interesting. Also loved the band on market day. I'd get in all kinds of trouble in the antique stalls!

I might have to visit that antiques market, love a rummage. We’ve recently found an amazing place in Taunton, cider barn plus a couple of barns, filled to the rafters with random stuff, plus quite a few containers filled with vintage furniture. My idea of heaven 👍🏻

I love the beach walk videos so much. I'm from North Cornwall where, exactly as you say, it's mostly sheer cliffs and very craggy, but there are a good few sandy coves, and the waves can get fairly rough: I went to Brighton to visit friends once and was taken aback to see how flat the water was, and that there was NO sand to be found!
You've probably been, but if you haven't, I highly recommend the walks around Morwenstow. There's one lovely short circuit that goes from the church, past Hawker's Hut, and through a valley that I'm really fond of - I walked it a lot growing up because my grandmother loved going on walks and was more or less a scholar on Hawker and his life! There's some beautiful forest along a footpath that goes parallel to the Vicarage, too, which I mostly remember walking along for an Easter egg hunt my grandparents set up for me. I don't tend to visit there any more because my grandparents moved out of the Vicarage, but your videos often make me kind of nostalgic for the walks around there, even if the plants and beaches differ a little, especially now I live in a city up country!
Inspired by the moss comment I asked perplexity ai to write a silly poem about moss. It's actually quite sweet! Here it is:

The walk from Weymouth to Bowleaze Cove was a trip down memory lane for me. When I was little my parents would always 'set up camp' on the beach in line with the Victorian clock so that I'd be able to find them.
As a young adult I slept overnight in one of those semi-open beach huts so I could catch the early ferry to France in the morning, and I've slept under the now truncated pier back before they blew it up. Myself and a few friends would travel down to Weymouth from south Somerset, tour the local pubs before ending up in a basement nightclub. We'd then crash out under the pier, grab breakfast at a cafe in the morning then head home. Happy days
This one’s a marathon not a sprint, and what variety there is, you are spoiling us, spent a nice couple of hours this Saturday morning watching it. It’s like going to Saturday morning pictures without the noisy children 😂 Thank you. Plus how diddy did Jenny look next to that wopping great tree ! 😀

I grew up in Cornwall and now live in Scarborough. In both places I have my choice of stony and sandy beaches! North bay here is pebbly and south bay is sandy. But back in Cornwall, my father would take me and my sisters out on his boat and explore for tiny sandy coves that we could have entirely to ourselves; those days were honestly magical and I'm thankful you've caused me to think of them. ☺️

I have trouble remembering things in pairs, too, like whether it’s “cream cheese” or “cheese cream.” It’s nice to know someone I look up to is in a similar boat (even though the boat is annoying). I like hearing how people remember things, too. The way I remember that it’s “cream cheese” is by thinking “cheese doesn’t make cream, so it’s the other way around: cream cheese.” :)

That meal at the beginning looks amazing
I'm reminded of a book I read repeatedly back in middle school: "Wasp Farm." I forget the author, but I believe it was published sometime in the 70's, and it had a cover like a stained glass window. It was mostly lessons on ecology and the biology of wasps, but had a conversational, at times poetic tone, and I loved returning to it again and again.
I appreciate the feeling of joining you on these nature walks and adventures! Great scenery, great Eva, great volunteers, 10/10

A really long Shrimp video with lots of variety. Just perfect for a Saturday evening when as usual there's a load of rubbish on the TV! I grew up in Dorset, but my family were not walkers and so with many of those places , although I've driven through them many times, I've never been able to explore them properly. Thank you so much.
On your frog problem,possibly a mesh barrier would stop them falling in while admitting light ,moisture and air for the plants.There are all types from chicken wire or plastic to some that are that nice copper you liked.As for any that get in,I am not sure frogs would climb out of a favorable area,not being the brightest bulbs in the chandelier,but there is info on live catch frog traps including a Cambodian lady who has a couple videos of a very simple one that you could possibly use.I believe she was probably catching them to eat but she did want them alive .
Some of the frogs finding their way in there are really small - I think if we had mesh with a small enough gauge to keep those out, it would quickly get covered up with leaves; in truth, I don't mind the frogs being there - I just want them to be able to get out of that area if they need to
