  • CILA offered a virtual presentation on April 18 at 12pm on Identifying and Pursuing Special Immigrant Juvenile Status for Immigrant Youth at the State Court Level. The presentation covered the most common form of humanitarian relief for immigrant youth, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS). SIJS is granted to children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected by at least one parent.
Learn more about identifying this potential relief for immigrant youth in immigration and family law cases, including what is required in a state court order for youth seeking relief, child friendly practices, and post-order steps. Specific procedural pointers for El Paso practitioners will be covered. Ethical issues in representing children will also be discussed.
