On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Mig soup !!!!!a4 Skyhawk vs tiger vs phantom actually a top gun fight
Day 62 of asking for A-10 vs F-86, or vs a series of different generations of jet fighter.
Do you prefer the F15 radar scope in the cockpit or the Su27 radar in the HUD?
you need to do a video on su-47
Having the civvies in the way makes it spicey. It is an interesting dynamic because there is always the chance that your opposition is going to be more willing to create an international incident than you are. I love that you broke out the Charlie Eagle for this. I always make time to watch GS fly the F-15.
pretty sure a dog fight in a wildly busy commercial flight furball already is one.
This is so interesting. It's like you and the Flanker were playing football but the marching band wouldn't leave the field.
😂 nice!
If you're on a flight you could never know if there is an F15 and a Flanker fighting below you
Wouldn’t do you any good anyway so….
I would say the flight crews of those civilian aircraft, when they realize there are missiles flying around, will have a dramatic increase in their pucker factor.
>And if you take a look out to the left of the aircraft you can see several various A2A missiles going pitbull on us. I hope everyone's wills were up to date before you decided to fly Delta today.
All 747s ever manufactured by Boeing were involved in the filming of this video.
@@smuganimeface6247 Flight Insurance is cheap considering the risk factors.
@@smuganimeface6247always a good idea when choosing Delta for your travel needs.
Reminds me of that one mission in Project Wingman where you have to shoot down military cargo aircraft and their escorts while in civilian-heavy airspace, avoiding hitting civilian airliners at risk of mission failure
Probably the only time I ever used the semi-actives was that mission alone.
I keep the MLAAs because it's more spicey, and usually works fine.
lol i was listening to clear skies as i watched this video
Every time you zoomed into a civilian plane I was waiting for it to eat a missile. Solid work. Cool scenario. Making it look easy as usual.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Please remain calm. We appear to have stumbled into the middle of an aerial dogfight. The flight attendants will come around shortly with free alcohol for everyone. See you all in Valhalla."
I'm pretty sure that as soon as airliner pilots seen missiles flying around they would be looking for the nearest exit for that airspace with at least as much urgency as losing an engine.
(pssshk) "Ah...Good morning everyone on American Airlines flight 1132 for Istanbul. We're cruising at a comfortable 37,000 feet and are expecting very little turbulence." (pshhhk) "Uh, I'm not going to be turning off the 'fasten seatbelt" signs because there's a FOX-3 slapfight to the starboard of the aircraft. In the event we take a missile to the engine I'm going to need everyone to remain calm, make sure you put on your own oxygen mask before assisting anyone traveling with you, and completely ignore the fact that none of us are able to eject."
I guided that missile in pretty close, it should be going pitbull!” *zooms in on civilian passenger jet* *Me* “Oh…. OH NO!”
I love that the dogfight videos have become much more informative! It's cool to learn some of the terminology especially
Lol your pf pic gave me a good laugh hahaha
I don't know why, I but really like it when your vids end with the touchdown at home. Something oddly satisfying about you bringing your plane home, usually in one piece, and seeing her arrive.
With the amount of civilian traffic its like you're having this fight over Chicago O'Hare.
Every time you say "I should be ok" or "that missile shouldn't get me" I start to tense up based on how many times you've said that in previous videos and got killed a second later LOL.
Love the scenario for this one! Something similar but a Phoenix fight between Navy and Iranian Tomcats would be interesting.
The US -14B would win. The Ali-Cat's are 14-A's, and since we don't know exactly what changes they may have made to them, you have to default to what we do know for simulation purposes. The better capability of the -14B's airframe and engines just from a performance side will give it the edge, especially in a close dogfight. Lobbing Pheonixes at each other comes down to the missile, radar, and crew. At the end of the day it's not the plane, it's the pilot. :P
You should keep doing these videos with civilians airliners it makes it way more interesting
Great vid. Overall quality of content has been increasing the in past few months IMO. Would love to see a scenario vid (possibly coop) with you flying an F35 in the role it's designed for. Command node type stuff. Remote firing, etc.
Every time you zoomed in on an airliner I was expecting an international incident to occur

I'd love to see a video of trying to intercept the venerable SR-71 Blackbird with the best technology 2023 has to offer. Does an updated MiG-31 with R-37s even stand a chance at Mach 3+ and climbing through angels 80? Modernised F-14 with AMRAAM-D3s, AMRAAM-ERs, or speculative AIM-260s?
I just watched a video on this. The conclusion was: no. Neither the F-15 nor F-14 had any real chance of shooting down an SR-71. To even make intercept exercises interesting, the SR-71 had to fly low and slow, crossing a pre-set point at a specified time so that Eagles and Tomcats could even see it. They said, unsurprisingly, that the Phoenix gave the F-14 a somewhat better chance. Also had a superior radar at the time. The Eagle has a ceiling of 65k', but apparently it can't really go much over 50k' (?) if the pilot doesn't have a pressure suit, so the ceiling of the plane is kinda wasted. Wonder how the 5EX Eagle would do with the new radar and AIM-260s...
@@000-z8n I think I watched the same video, which is what had me thinking about it. Obviously it wasn't doable back then using the technology of the 70s, and that's what makes me ask the question about whether it could be done using the best, most modern, most capable gear in the world today.
Those airline passengers were thinking "fly the friendly skies, my ass!" That was cool.
Imagine being on a civilian flight, looking out the window and seeing an f-15 streak by....cool. Seeing an f-15 streak by firing off a missile....butt pucker time.
"Hey look, a civilian airliner!"
*"Do it, you know you want to do it."*
Every time he zoomed in on a civilian plane i thought it was seconds away from an explosion lol
GS slinging AMRAAM's between civilian aircraft: "if they die, they die".
Would've loved to watch you come in for landing in IFR, always super satisfying breaking out of the clouds.
I think it’s wild heatblur hasn’t sent you their F-4 module yet. Maybe they have you’re just making the videos but I am dying to see that baby
Another great vicarious adventure for me! Thanks for your talk through!
"A-ttention passengers, this is your captain speaking. We are at our cruising altitude of 35,000 feet, and well above the cloud cover. If you look out your windows, you can see the beautiful white, puffy cumulonimbus clouds showing that we're out of the rain for now. And if you look out the left...does that, is that a Russian Flanker? Hey Doug, does that look like a Flanker to you? Well, we should be ok folks, he's probably just getting some training OH GODS HE JUST EXPLODED! I mean, nothing to worry about folks, we're just going to deviate from our planned flight line a little and...no Doug, we don't have parachutes. Why would you ask that...oh, right, there goes that other pilot..."
I can't stop watching these. I do not watch a single video game being played...but this one. The tone in the beginning had me. I'm understand how dogfights work and actual strengths of these platforms...it's odd
In an airliner cockpit.
"Hey look, an Eagle!"
"Cool! What do you suppose he's doing up h-"
(Eagle launches missile)
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Haha - This kill was sponsored to you by American Airlines. "You Are Dead Why We Fly"
Ooo, a civilian airliner - The missle guidance sysrem
I'm actually surprised none of the missiles hit the airliners🤣
If you get disorientated, you can also refer to the Attitude Indicator, I am not a RL pilot, but I see F-15 has one in the middle :)
Would love to see you show some love to the JF-17, it's been 2 years since your last video and I think the thrust vectoring easter egg could make for some fun scenarios GS :)
That thing pulled the hand brake at the last second to hit that plane !
I felt the tension boiling more and more the longer this fight dragged out, and it was awesome to see how a fight would play out when civvies are in the way (understandably)
also is it just me or do those 747's look like 747-200s with -400-style wings?
either way excellent video!
Let’s see the F4U Corsair vs the P51 mustang
love your Videos man
always cool to see your shenanigans
keep it up
14:39 That one boy on the airliner: Mom look a plane exploded!
The FAA would have a FIT over how many of those jumbo jets are in the same airspace....WAAAAAYYYYY too close....
Using BVR weapons with that many civilian aircraft around it crazy - love it.
Are those two orange lights up by the rearview mirrors shoot que lights? I haven't heard anyone talk about them but can't help but notice them light up just prior to firing missiles and some time after.
Fantastic Video! Complex environments are fun to watch and you handled it like a master and got the kill. Great Job. Complex A-10 at night and all my requests will have been fulfilled. You have a fantastic channel man.
Commercial airliners that close together are considered a near collision.......
I hope that you eventually bring back "the adventures of the two morons”. Those are pretty fun to watch.
While I am not yet a DCS player, I enjoy your videos a lot! What is telling you that you are at the gimbal limits while defending after also launching?
The radar screen has gate indicators showing where the radar is sweeping. When you lock a target it narrows to only five degrees or so, so you can put those gates up against the edge of the screen and just keep it there. Part of DCS charm is the level of realism that is put into the simulations. The better quality modules take some time to really learn the systems, but you get an appreciation of how well they are designed and how the real life pilots have to study their butts off to become proficient, let alone the best.
Thanks for the answer! @@chrismaverick9828
Thought that was a great fight! Definitely makes it tough with all the air traffic.
And passengers on the left side can look out their windows and see an AMRAAM FLYING BY!
I'd like to think that an ATC crew at the nearest airport was sitting around the radar screen all watching this unfold.
Imagine being on a flight with a war pilot with ptsd, while there's aerial combat happening outside your window. " ladies and gentlemen please buckle up while we take evasive maneuvers, I think I can take this bogies six"
I half expected a repeat of Prigozhin's final flight there. Anyway, asking again for a collab with Habitual Linecrosser where you destroy everything in the F-22 and he narrates it in his F-22 character voice
Mommy! Mommy! Look, look? An AMRAAM! Mmm, K dear.
I work in those airliners.....imagining this scene gives me goose bumps ....(Tea/Coffee/AMRAAM to the face?) Hahahaha!!!
Would it be feasible to equip a sparrow with an infrared seeker for terminal guidance? I.e. building a missile that is a Fox-1 until it is a Fox-2?
Somewhat serious question - do fighters have TCAS, or are they reliant on eyeballs/radar/situational awareness to avoid mid-airs?
I'm kind of curious, in the real world, if the SAM sights have a data link to their respective fighters.
They keep saying that the peregrine has 3 seekers, I assume one is an active, one is an IR, so I wonder if the third is a passive seeker.
probably. having active radar guidance plus IR plus home on jam capabilities would make a pretty nasty missile.
"I am completely and mentally stable. Oh look, a civillian airliner!"
GS was constantly hiding behind civilian aircrafts. Good tactics!
Imagine being on one of those Luthansa civilian liners and you see an F15 rip past you and behind him is a missile 😂😂😂. The worst thing though is that civilian liners have no RWR (duh) so imagine how terrified all the people would be knowing they're in the middle of a fight.
Oh man. 1:26 I just saw a Lufthansa 747-800 fly over our house about an hour ago. 😂
I really like the BVR stuff personally. Good stuff!
Eagle hits hard but the flankers are just so sexy
Drinking delicious wine & fighting does not usually mix well, it's fun though
I Am Completely and Mentality Stable… Oh Look a Civilian Airliner!
Aerial chess! Regardless of outcome, two of the best looking fighters ever built!
Cool now maybe you can do F16C vs MiG29 similiarly equipped with R-77-1s? Maybe it would be called an SM?
Imagine looking in the Illuminator, and seeing Light pole size stick hitting Flanker at mach 3.
Just imagine myself on an American Airlines flight ✈️ looking out the window and suddenly seeing a SU35 been smoked by a missile and plunging to the ground. 😂 Great job GS please for the five hundred time please make the fat girl F35 shine?
Let's see you some more in the A-10 Warthog.
what is the name of the song you used on the clip of your amraam hitting the Su-35
Definitely seems to be no ATC directing those flights 🤣
Who cares about some Lufthansa 747-400 when there's a Super Flanker to fight?
It's good you didn't shoot down that American Airlines passenger jet, I hear they charge extra for that.
That S300 site will take care of the civilian aircraft, no problem.
If I were an ATP flying that American, I’d be hopping mad at company dispatch for giving me this flight plan that took me into disputed airspace.
Well, well, well, the F-15 wins again... color me surprised. The F-16 designed to be the best dogfighter ever, and the F-15 designed to never lose in air-to-air combat. The F-22 was designed to never lose in both air-to-air and surface to air combat.
"I am completely and mentally stable. Oh, hey, look, a civilian airliner. [Do it. You know you wanna do it. Lock it. Just do it. Just lock onto that civilian airliner. C'mon, just do it. Do it now. Just do it. You know you wanna do it. Lock it. Just do it. C'mon, just do it. Do-] I can't take it anymore!"
Would love to see a situation were the Russians use the air liners as cover for as long as possible. The airliner being basically held hostage and the F15 walk into a trap. The Airliner may get a mayday off, etc. The Flanker would pop out and take shots at the F15 at distance to keep him defensive. Of course his buddy would be around with a Felon to keep it interesting
0:08 that eagle reminds me of something.......
06:53 is a gorgeous shot
I'm completely mentally stable. Oh hey look, a civilian airliner!
I know, and love, the realism GS aims for with his videos....but just once, I want to see one of these scenarios with a "devil may care" attitude and just let the Fox-3s fly and let fate sort out the rest.
I really know nothing but wouldn’t civ airliners be directed away from combat if there was a known fight going on?
If they know it’s a combat area yes, but sometimes this kind of thing just kicks off
@@GrowlingSidewinder fair enough
Also, depending on the flights, the "bad guys" might just follow the civvies while closing distance. Body shields essentially.

Wow the clouds are beautiful!
Civilian aircraft? It's DCS.....you never "have to be careful." 😁
Hey GS. Enjoying the vids - awesome work. Requesting SU30/34 vs Gripen, with Gripen AWACS but no SAM, and SU30/35 SAM. Gripen (2 flight) mission is to provide area denial for friendly ground offensive.
In-flight entertainment will never be the same again.😂😂
"Oh look a civilian airliner!"
"ooh look, a civilian airliner. *Aim9x noises*"
At least you ended your 3 video streak of getting smoked
At 14:42. You failed to mention, "Growling SIdewinder does not endorse American Airlines or the atrocities committed to customers thereof."
I've waited your video to finish my day, thanks !
Fitting for an American Airlines witnessing an air-to-air hit. They’re always delayed! Always🤦🏻♂️
Dude why isn’t the F-22A RADAR SCREEN 📺 FIXED??? Since the DLSS update the screen 📺 (as soon as you turn in the battery) while looking 👀 down with Track IR AND TOBI EYE TRACKER at the same time looking at the radar screen, the radar is showing up, then looking back up while looking 👀 at the radar screen it disappears. Someone please try this!! Basically what I’m trying to say is why is the radar messed up? With the battery on only! The radar screen while looking down shows up, then while looking up it disappears.
Great vid! Very good explainations of what is happening!
