Yeah, that's a tricky situation: of course you want to share your successes with your loved ones, but showing a close friend that you succeeded in a place where they failed or left behind is bittersweet. Honestly, I would probably just keep that subject out of future conversations, just cause I'm not trying to hurt the friend and I don't want resentments because they think I'm flexing. You should always be proud of your accomplishments, though. Salute to you for working towards the dream.
i think a lot of people live with so many expectations of everyone else that they set themselves up for disappointment. i understand why some people feel like they need social validation to feel like they are valued, doing right or headed in the right direction with what they're doing but i think most times that only happens because they hold no value for self. and very true a lot of times people just don't communicate clearly and then become frustrated by it.
Here's a story for you. I make beats and was working a 9 to 5, and I ran into an artist who was related to a HUGE songwriter(did the research and everything this person told me checked out). So I sent this individual some beats through email, and the person I was dating at the time found put that I sent this person some beats and FLIPPED OUT and threatened to leave me. The ones closest to you won't support you and if you find the ones that do without asking for anything in return, keep them by your side!
People don't realize that friends and family are more likely to share your stuff if you paint paintings or have a restaurant than they are with music because music is is shared when it's become part of the soundtrack of their life and most people are not riding around listening g to their friends and family music and instead are listening g to music thst was playing g during key events I their own lives. Something to consider: you may make a style of music that is not your friends' cup of tea, or maybe your family just isn't the type who likes to push content online, so asking them to act as your marketing team for free is not fair to them, and you shouldn't take it personally. They are already supporting you by not discouraging you from making music. When you start getting real views and real money, your fans will give you that push, and your friends and family will feel more compelled to check you out and support you later on.
