My wreaths stay up until at least Valentine’s Day or later. To me, a wreath is an all winter decoration. Other things come down around Valentine’s Day. What can I say? They make me happy!
I forgot to mention that the Christmas decorations can be kept as long as you’re enjoying them, that is what is important. I love the chandelier that you gave Tony and Jane for Christmas. Take care my friends, Ralph Rocchiccioli
Hugs Ralph. Yes, one can keep them as long as one enjoys the decorations. 100% agree. We were happy to being able to give them a chandelier that they love ❤❤❤. Hugs
Leaving this comment to possibly make the algorithm more favorable to you. I watch every one of your episodes as they appear (or catch-up when I am away).
Happy New Year! Patrick and Stewart...... We love you and you're going to recapture those 2,000 subscribers plus many, many more. Keep up the great work
Hi there John. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comment. Hugs and love from Colombe. We hope to recapture the many of the active subscribers that were deleted. You rock. Hugs. 😊😊😊😊
When we were kids my folks left our Christmas decorations up until the end of Jan. so they would be up for my and my brother's birthdays. As an adult, I once left my tree up until April (due to time constraints) so I took the Christmas decorations off and threw Easter streamers all over it.
Brilliant! In some neighborhoods her (I won't say which ones as i have been guilty too) people leave the decorations up all the year. At least they don't have to redecorate for The Day of the Dead!
I HIT THUMBS UP BEFORE I LISTEN. I ALREADY KNOW I WILL LOVE THE VIDEO . IMO YOU HAVE FAR MORE SUBSCRIBERS THAN YOU ARE GIVEN CREDIT FOR ! I NEEDED A GOOD LAUGH TODAY AND GOT IT WITH THE CORN , THE CRITTERS , AND FIBER OPTICS !!! What buffoon had nothing better to do than make life more difficult than it needs to be ! I would love to know what their salary is. They need a high speed mental cathartic .
Thank you so much ❤😊❤. I had to laugh myself….. I said to Stuart: Gosh, the things I say! 🤣😂🤣. It is entirely possible that they suppress subscribers. Love your comment. 💖💗💖
It looks like nothing is easy in France, and nobody can ever say you don't work very hard for everything you have 😢 ❤ You both made a beautiful job of the chest of drawers ❤ See you Wednesday 😊❤❤❤
Darling Cheryl. Thank you so much. There are many things that are more difficult here 😮😅😮. See you Wednesday and hopefully we have an appointment for installation. 💗💖💗
💥💥💥 When I found you I binged watched all of your videos for about a week. I would fall asleep with a video going and then wake up and find where I remember leaving off and starting again and I love it I have started out the new year where I can just watch each one as you release them. I absolutely love it.. As far as your fiber optics, I’m from Texas. And that seems like the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard and apparently you agree why would you coat it with some thing that rodents would eat? To save on plastics? That then you have to buy more plastic this is crazy. I definitely see your sense of humor and the craziness of the situation. But then again , There seems to be a lot of difficult things in France compared to the United States. Hoping to see more of all of the dogs, and the kitty. And can’t wait to see what’s going to be accomplished this new year. Love all of your recipes. And all of your canning advice. Take care looking forward to more videos👏👏👏
Hi Paula. 😊. I love it. Thank you for sharing. As many people were saying….. we need to love what we do. Now, we have the filming to consider……. Great comment. Hugs
I can completely relate. There comes a point when I want to clean and the decorations have to go. We will do much this weekend to have time for the upcoming projects. Thank you for sharing ❤
years ago, when my son was a young teenager, he's now 45 we left our Christmas tree up all year, it was a beautiful tree, people would come to visit and comment and finish with "what a beautiful tree", we didn't worry about the supposed bad luck it was about the joy of the beautiful tree
I take my decorations down on January 7th, the day after Epiphany/Twelfth Night/Feast of the Three Kings. It takes so long to prepare for the Christmas Season, I want to enjoy every day.
Hi every one. In Sweden we sweep out the Christmas "sopar ut julen" the 13 of January "13 dags Knut". 13 dags Knut is 20days after Christmas "Julafton". Happy New year and the best to all of you. Thank you so much for your video's. The best to all of you from a Swed in France.
Hi Lars. Happy 2025. I absolutely enjoyed reading your comment. Yet another wonderful tradition that I didn’t know about. Thank you for sharing. Hugs from Colombe 😊
Last year I made it very easy and decorated in white, silver and crystal. I called them “winter decorations” and was able to keep everything up until the middle of March here in southern Ontario 😊. This year we were away for Christmas so I just put a few red decorations around and no tree so they will be easy to put away! Patrick and Stuart have given us lots of beautiful decorations to enjoy. Here’s to decorating a short or long time as long as what you put out makes you happy!! 🎉
Hi Judy. White and crystal sounds lovely. I was thinking about a white room for next year 😊. Thank you so much for your wonderful support. Love from Colombe ❤❤❤
Hello Patrick and Stuart! I'm leaving my Christmas decorations up until I feel ready for Spring! We are buried in snow and freezing here, so I am in no hurry to take down the Festive decorations! They help keep me happy during the long dark Winter! So happy about the fiber optic cable! I wish you didn't have to work so hard to prep for it, but I'm sure it will be worth it all in the end! Kiss the puppies and Figgy for me! ❤
Hi Jennifer. I totally understand what you mean. When we lived in northern Illinois with constant snow till April, I always left the big garland with lights and crystals to keep a winter barrier. 😊. And also, it is a lot of work……. Sending you lots of love from Colombe ❤
I’m from the USA and live in Amish country and we always leave our decorations up until Old Christmas which is January 6th. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. 😊😊
Happy New Years! 5:54 I alter the Christmas decor into winter decor. That means putting the tree and bobbles away and keeping things like pine cones around, white candles and snow flakes. Celebrate winter!
Boy, it’s never a dull moment for you guys… my hat’s off to you! I don’t like rushing to take my decorations down because I like to enjoy them a little while longer after the holidays and man, it’s so much work… I have to psych myself up to do it! Happy New Year- may it be fabulous!❤🎉
Thank you so much Jeanie. It is always a challenge 😂😂😂. Huge hugs and a happy 2025. We completely understand that is takes a bit of an inner push to get up and sort things into the storage boxes. Huge hugs and enjoy your decorations. You deserve it ❤
My family's tradition was that Christmas decorations did not go up before Dec, 15th, and came down on Jan. 6th. This year, tradition be damned, and the lights are being unplugged today. I am just over it already.
Great tradition Colin. ❤. I can absolutely relate to your feeling of….. enough and done! 😅😂😅. We might store everything this weekend and only leave the garland in the hall (but no ornaments). Thank you for a great comment 😊
What’s lovely piece of furniture!!! Great job restoring it. And I’m glad that you’re keeping lovely furniture for yourselves, not just your guests. You absolutely deserve it! ♥️♥️♥️ Congratulations on completing the next stage towards fiber optic internet!!! And congratulations on facing down your claustrophobia. 💪 When I was in 1st grade, (1960’s), only a year or two after the cable was invented, I got to bring a piece of fiber optic cable to class for show-and-tell. The company Dad worked for used it in some of their high tech equipment, and he always taught us about the latest advances and how they were used. So I’ve had a soft spot for that particular tech ever since. 😁 Lots of “ooos & ahhhs” from the class, which wasn’t necessarily typical. However, certainly the product I demonstrated didn’t have anything related to corn. 🤣 I try to always leave a comment, but good idea for simple ones, for those rare occasions when I’m not excessively chatty. 😁
Thank you. It is such an attractive chest…. We love it. I love your comment with the memories of your dad. That must have been such fun. Now,I’d say they were smarter in the 1960s……. No rodent feed cables 😂😂😂😂😂. Huge hugs❤
In Alaska you leave your white lights on until the last team crosses the finish line of the Iditarod in March. I loved it because it was so dark all day. It cheered you up.
My mother believed the decorations should stay up at least until January 6th which was celebrated as the arrival of the three kings to the manger. And I've followed that! After the 6th, they come down whenever you feel like it. I try to do it before they get dusty!!
Hi Iris. Thank you for sharing. And there is the dust…. 😊😮😊. Especially when one has wood burning stoves…… I think January 6 is a great date and for our chapel it will be Maria Lightmass (40 days after Christmas). Hugs😊
This is one of the best chateau videos on RUclips and I never miss Patrick and Stuart. Perhaps the person at RUclips who made this unbelievable decision is related to the person who thought a corn cable would be a good thing. Oh dear, more people who lack common sense sitting in more offices making silly decisions. Leave your decorations up as long as you like. It's your house.
Julia….. what can I say? I absolutely adore your sense of humour. We were laughing out loud. I think you are absolutely spot on…. Too many idiots in positions they are not qualified to fill…. 😮😂😮😂😮. Thank you so very much. Much love from Colombe ❤
Congratulations 🎉on fiber optics--yes what a pain! I remember my friends in Tasmania going thru this 15 yrs ago ( no chateau attics but outside digging) it made a big difference for them! Re decoration-when the mood strikes-is how I live! There are NO RULES! Whatever pleases you most! This I wish for you in 2025!❤
Hi my darling Stuart and Patrick, I already wrote my usual epilogue to you but I must have hit something and it has vanished.🧐 Stuart we cannot praise your skills enough between your filming editing and music choices. Patrick darling you have become a master of all sorts cooking restoring, gardening etc , but for me personally it’s your voice. You are very articulate and eloquent speaker and your communication and annunciation is word perfect. Now I know you will say “ I digress too much” well you don’t.😉 I think between you when you have the chateau up to a standard that your happy with, personally I think you could do wonders running retreats or courses from anything from Fine arts to restoration , gardening(you could have Ron Robertson giving talks on Roses etc ) cookery demonstrations and loads more as you both are very skilled professionals in your own rights. Love to you both and big big hugs for the New Year ahead. 🥰😘🇨🇮
Hello sweetie. Sorry your vacation ended. 😢😢. I bet it was wonderful. We have grown quite a bit in our abilities. I have been struggling with the fact that I have completely narcissistic parents who just hate me and throw as much hate at me as they can. Oh well, I will make a video about that at one point. Maybe it can help somebody else in that situation. My idea are two cooking weekends with 12 participants. Excursions and cooking/eating together. Much love darling and thank you for your incredible support ❤❤❤❤
Hi Patrick and Stuart, I used to take down Christmas decorations on the Feast of the Epiphany ( January 6th). However, THIS year I took them down and put them away yesterday ( January 2). I always decorate the house for Christmas on November 26 ( 1 day after Thanksgiving). However, this year I could not get them down fast enough! For the first time in my life ( I am more than 70 years old) I did NOT have the Christmas spirit!!! Elizabeth in Texas
Thank you for sharing Elizabeth. I had years in the past when I felt like there was no Christmas spirit and I needed to store things. It feels lovely in the chateau with all the decorations….. However, I feel a store it away energy for this weekend…. Hoping next Christmas you will be filled with the spirit again. Sending you much love from Colombe ❤❤❤❤❤
I am so sorry! Istill have the little Fr Christmas hanging up from last year, but I didn't decorate at all. I am in Texas too. Life has been full of ups and downs lately. I hope you will feel better when spring comes (hopefully without tornadoes!).
A good way to take down the Christmas decorations is to do the small tableaux first that are just Christmas ornaments , then go through all the greenery and replace the ornaments with nature (pine cones, etc). This will get your creative juices flowing to see what can be the next decor for the winter months until Valentines Day . Outdoor lights should be the first lights to be put in storage. Baby steps is a great way to go.
Hi Kathy. I think that and having the time to do it, makes sense. And for some families it is tradition. Also a lovely way to look at it. Huge thank you. ❤
we wait until January 6 -- after 12th night -- following the British tradition -- and agree that the outdoor decorations/lights are weather-dependent! However, no more illumination outdoors after the evening of January 5
These remarks are fascinating! It is so nice when people say where they are posting from ...all over the world and lots in America who are from the 'old' countries too!
Love your channel. Yours is not the only one to have this happen. Everyone needs to check their status from time to time. Good luck with cable. Whoever came up with the corn idea must be a vegetarian 😊.
Hi Sharon. We read about quite a lot of channels. How awful of YT! Looking forward to the installation! I think you are right.,.. a veggie thought that’s the best way! Or someone who loves to feed rodents 😮😂😮. Hugs
I start putting my Christmas decor up September 1st and normally try to have them put away by the end of January. I have had a number of family and friends say for years that I should leave it up all year. Finally, I have decided to try leaving it up (assuming I can stand it year-round). My four kids are grown, and my wife has passed so it's just me. Now in the future instead of spending so much time putting it up, I can adjust things and simply enjoy having it all up for various parties and open house each year. I know you can't do that, but people in my community know me as the yellow house on the corner with the lights. I leave the blinds open (in my 1935 house) and they drive by to see my house full of lights inside and out.
OK….. here is my opinion : This makes you happy and you enjoy it……. You go and do exactly what you love!!!! True, we couldn’t do that. However, it you, your house and your enjoyment. Thank you so very much for sharing ❤❤❤❤. Hugs
Taking down Christmas...Whenever the heck you want to. You do not have to do anything you do not want to. I wish people would enjoy the content instead of commenting how you should do things. You guys do beautiful work and I for one enjoy watching.
Thank you gentlemen. You always put out your videos regularly and they are always interesting and upbeat. I hope all goes well with your fibre optic situation
I was not unsubscribed, but I checked and rechecked. You guys are doing a terrific job and it’s a pleasure to watch you every week. Keep up the good work! 👍👍👍
I’ve watched you two from the very beginning and have loved every one of your posts. It’s such a beautiful chateau, you have both made so much difference already, and I do admire that as for the most part it’s just been the two of you. I look forward to another year with you both. xx
Hi Patrick & Stuart, I take my Christmas decorations down on the Twelfth Night, also known as Three Kings Day, the evening before the Epiphany. Great job on your Chest of Drawers.
Dear Patrick and Stuart, my parents and grandparents always waited until after January 6th The Epiphany to take down their Christmas decorations, so in my early years of marriage I did the same. Through the years however, my decorations came down right after New Years Day. I seemed to have ruined the family tradition by a week. I’m so happy you are getting fiber optics but I find it funny how you have to do the prep work. I hope little critters don’t eat through the very appealing sweet corn fiber optic cable for their dessert!! It seems a bit crazy what you have to go through. I have been watching your channel from the beginning while you were still in the States. I try to comment after each episode and I always click on the like button before I watch the episode. You have a great channel so it is very upsetting that they are playing games by removing subscribers. Many hugs and wishes for much happiness. ❤
Darling Stephanie. I’d say you made your own traditions! In England one has to be done removing the decorations before midnight of Epiphany……. Or it’s bad luck all year long. See you are avoiding the bad luck by going early. We started today. The prep work for the optic cable……. I was soooo filthy but it is done. Love and a happy and healthy 2025 for you and your family ❤
Always take the Christmas decorations down on the 12thday of Christmas (January 6th) That's what we used to do in the UK. Unfortunately here in Spain where I live now, 6th January is the big day when the Three Wise Men bring the children their presents. So , after the gift giving and a big meal, we have to rush round madly getting all the decorations down before 12 o'clock midnight because if we don't get them down by then, it's bad luck all through the year (so my Mum used to say😊)
That is a great tradition. Now, the tradition with the fest of the 3 kings sounds lovely. I cannot imagine us getting our decorations down in one evening 😮😂😮. Thank you so much for sharing. Love it ❤
😂 You have A LOT more decorations than we have so we manage to get them down. The Nativity, that can be quite big, can stay up until 2nd February - Candle Mass. But for good luck we always leave a small bunch of mistletoe hung up all year round above the living room door. As you can see, it's all a bit complicated 😅 @patrickjourneytothechateau9452
I take down all Santa stuff after Chrismas, then glam it up for New Years, then make it more pink for Valentine's day, then I take it all down. However, I don't do a Chrismas tress, I use an old screen door which I light up and put all my glass ornaments on. It doesn't take up as much space, and the ornaments are really easy to see.
Good morning gentlemen, I never lost my subscription and as you know there was a month of my viewing being all over the place? Its odd isn't it? And yes it is all about money of course. Love the chest of draws, beautiful in lay, so pleased you have saved them. The Christmas tree...! Likely to be different in each household. As a rule mine trees go up on the 1st of December and come down of the 1st of January. In saying that my trees went up so late in December I have decided to leave them up until maybe next weekend. Its a massive job for me putting them up and down, but I love it and the nostalgic memories. 😘😘
Hello darling Cliff. We had even friends with tier own chateau channel unsubscribed! We are in each other’s chats……. Every week. So it’s all a big lie. Frustrating. I agree, we need to take the decorations down when we can or when we feel like it. Now, the traditions are also just lovely. There is no wrong or right! Now, enjoy your summer! Love and hugs ❤
There's something wonderful about seeing all of the beautiful European antique furniture used in the chateaus. First of all, it doesn't have to be in perfect condition and secondly everyone appreciates the amazing workmanship so much and finally, solid wood furniture when appreciated the way you do will last almost forever. I wish I could find the same supply in Canada and so inexpensively. So much for being part of the New World!! Patrick, you finished the piece so beautifully. It doesn't seem to be your first rodeo and Stuart, you always work your magic repairing all of the woodwork. I hope that the plastic tubing saves your fibre optic cable! It is nice to benefit from the speed of transfer of information. A star on your chart, Patrick, for meeting your claustrophobic fears and shooting it to the ground! I hope you both have a wonderful week and thank you for sharing the ups and downs of your journey. Sending a virtual hug to each of you. Angela
Dear Angela. Thank you for your amazing comment. I missed antique furniture while living in the USA. The workmanship is great and there are no chemicals in them! It was my dream to become a furniture restorer…… Stuart also loves working with antique furniture. I made it through the tight spaces. Huge hugs from Colombe ❤❤❤❤😊
Enjoy all your episodes, and your adventures at the chateau! Don't take down Christmas until after January 13th. In Finland, Jan. 13th is the last of the Christmas season and trees are taken down and thrown out the door to finish the year and begin another with good wishes. We have an old 1790 home in Vermont that is decorated with 10 rooms of Christmas and we don't begin taking down (which take a month of packing) until Jan. 15th each year. Enjoy the holiday season and don't rush to take down. Best wishes for another wonderful year at your chateau!
Thank you so much Pam. It is absolutely wonderful to learn about the different traditions. Here around us it is Epiphany. Will leave the garlands up…. Dark season with some render lights! Love that you shared your traditions. Hugs from Colombe ❤
Patrick and Stuart, I enjoy your videos and the entertaining banter that occurs in the episodes. I stumbled upon you two from an episode of The Chateau Diaries, and enjoyed the interactions of your stay at Chateau de Lalande. This resulted in me subscribing to your RUclips channel. The question regarding how long to keep up the Christmas tree depends on whether it hasn’t shed all of the needles (we always have a live tree) but for the most part it’s up until end of January. I enjoy the atmosphere the tree radiates. Regards Charles
Dear Charles. Thank you for your incredibly kind comment. We do have an amazing friendship with some of the fellow chateau owners and we have such a lively community with them 😊😊😊 We used to have live trees and…. Since we miss them, will have some next year again. The trees give such an amazing atmosphere, I completely agree. Hugs and again, thank you ❤
Jan 6th, definitely. Not that i am in France, other than in my heart (lol). It gives us more time to enjoy all the decorations without the stress of shopping, cooking and entertaining. Then i cantake my time putting them away and think about my new year aspirations. Happy New year! ❤😊
Absolutely true. And there are the garlands that we can leave a little longer, just with lights in them….. Fighting against the dark winter days. Huge hug😊
Thank you so very much ❤. We heard from quite a lot of people who watch and comment and they were unsubscribed. I believe they try to keep channels small for whatever reason. Even another château channel (we are friends and always attend premieres) had been unsubscribed from us. Apparently there is a reason we don’t understand. Huge hugs 😊😊😊
Following the English tradition I believe the tree must come down before the start of the new year. I always take my tree down boxing day. It goes up the middle of November so after nearly six weeks I am happy to see everything put away and my house back to normal.
I usually take my decorations down by January 6th. Sometimes earlier! They seem to be clutter after Christmas is over. Your chest of drawers turned out beautiful! Well worth your hard work Patrick!
You are so right! One day last week, here in Wisconsin, it actually hit the 40s. Down came the outdoor decor except around the door. I had to leave something! Indoors? That’s another story. When I’m ready AND motivated. It’s hard to think about parting with the beautiful lights in the middle of cold and dark winter. Certainly by mid January it will be down. Good luck deciding! Hugs!💖
Omg, that was daunting, I had fibre internet installed two years ago. I don’t have any poles on my property, everything is underground. The contractor shot the conduit and fibre underground, under my garage and to the corner of my house. This was about 150 feet from the pole on the other side of the road. You sure had a tough job getting ready. The dresser is absolutely gorgeous. You must be very proud of your accomplishments. Have a great day, I can’t wait until Wednesday.❤❤
Hugs Linda. It was work that I didn’t look forward to 😂😂😂. Glad it is done. We don’t understand why all the poles. In Woodstock they did exactly what you described. Sooo much smarter. Huge hugs 😊😊😊
Removing christmas decoration; i would say, after 6th of January. But you can keep some wintergreen; but the baulbs and ribbons and the bling bling can go.
Leave your decorations up for as long as you are enjoying them!❤ I have even left a tree or two up and decorated them for Valentines Day, St. Patrick's day, etc.❤❤ Your dogs are SO ADORABLE!!!❤
Good Golly Miss Molly! First squeezing into that teeny tiny space is bad enough. But the first time I ran into one of your big-asses spiders or bumped my head for the hundredth time I’d have a nervous breakdown! You are my heroes❣️👏🎉😍💕❤️🎈
Hi Eric. It was nothing I wanted to do but sometimes….. 😊😮😅. I was completely covered in dust when I was done 😂😂😂😂. I banged my head once…. That was really bad. Ouch 😂🤣🤯. Love your comment. Thank you indeed. 👍🏻🤩💖
So great you got ths cabling in, what a job, I can feel the body aching from here getting in & out of those tight spaces. See you Wednesday. Christmas decorations go down at different times for us, depends on mood, if family/friends are visiting. This year they were down & back in the attic 28th Dec. They went up end of Nov. Celia
Thank you for sharing Celia. We took the down today (most of them but 2 garlands with only lights). And I was a bit achy after the attic ordeal. 😂😂😂. Hugs 😊
Bonne heureuse année Patrick et Stewart.. Je suis très heureuse que vous avez beaucoup de commentaires. You may not have 100,000 subscribers yet, but omg you have over 1,000 comments.. A bientôt mes amies. Just wanted to add that I’m 72 yrs old, retired from working at a French college in Ontario, Canada and I love to have a good time. I got a little silly this Xmas with my family and my kids said to me” Mom you need help with your drinking problem” so I hired a bartender! 😂😂😂
Salût et bonne année Susanne. Thank you so much. We checked with channels that have almost 500,000 subscribers and get 340 comments! We are absolutely overwhelmed and happy by this commitment of our viewers and it clearly shows that RUclips is not honest. Enjoy your retirement and every day! I will take your advice for the next big event……. And hire a bartender too. 😂😂😂. Absolutely fantastic. Love from your friends at Colombe ❤❤❤❤❤
I love that you took the time to repair the Chester drawer. I’m always amazed at your dedication to restore so many pieces that many would discard. You guys are the best❤😊 congratulations on getting your fiber-optic preparations ✅ One more step to modern convenience for the chateau de columbe👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you very much Meredith ❤❤❤ We are excited that we will get high speed internet. Is is important for many guests! And it is a joy to restore antique furniture. Love from Colombe 😊😊😊😊
My birthday is January 6. Growing up, my parents always made sure that the Christmas decorations were down long before, as to not distract. As an adult, I never decorated until 2022, at age 56!
Hi there Mark and an early Happy Birthday. I think it is very considerate of your parents! 😊. I’m glad you did decorate the last 2 years. It’s fun! I love your comment. Thank you for sharing ❤
You two are hard working RUclipsrs. You deserve every subscriber you get!
I love your comment Sallie. Thank you. ❤
Take the Christmas decor done when you have the time and patience to put it away in an organized way.
That is so true! Thank you very much 😊😊😊
@@laurienevills1355 great advice, I like to put all my decorations away safely and logically, so it's easier next Christmas
My wreaths stay up until at least Valentine’s Day or later. To me, a wreath is an all winter decoration. Other things come down around Valentine’s Day. What can I say? They make me happy!
Hi Claudia. Indeed…… there is a difference between winter and Christmas decoration. I like your philosophy. Hugs❤
Thank you so much John! Loved your family background! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I watch this channel all the time PATRICK AND STUART. ❤WORK SO HARD IN THEIR HOME LOVE THE HUMOR TOO!😂
@@boessheila50thank you so very much Sheila. Hugs and love ❤️
We also Watch you.😊👌🤍
Same here! 😊 Love watching your videos and in awe at all your hard work.
I’m of Irish and Polish decent and we always left our tree and decorations up thru January 6th , when the three Kings arrived.
Thank you. That seems to be what the majority of viewers do as well. Hugs😊
You rock. Hugs. 😊😊😊😊
So happy your getting closer to high speed internet so it can be easier for you to upload videos. I enjoy watching all of them.
We are excited Vickie! Although I could have done without crawling through those spaces 😂😂😂😂. Love from Colombe ❤
I always took the decorations down by Jan. 6. The Feast of the Three Kings or Epiphany.
Thank you Pat. I think we will aim for the weekend before Epiphany from now on. Huge hugs
Hi Maureen. That is lovely. Thank you for sharing. Now… the Easter streamers……. I absolutely love it 😍
@@joseeallyn9950I love your comment. 😂😊😂.

And they wonder why the USA beats them at everything. It is just common sense and no 'greeny' EU directives!!!
It looks like nothing is easy in France, and nobody can ever say you don't work very hard for everything you have 😢 ❤
You both made a beautiful job of the chest of drawers ❤
See you Wednesday 😊❤❤❤
Darling Cheryl. Thank you so much. There are many things that are more difficult here 😮😅😮. See you Wednesday and hopefully we have an appointment for installation. 💗💖💗

Christmas decorations down … hummm like maybe July! 😬 not kidding….
Hi Paula. 😊. I love it. Thank you for sharing. As many people were saying….. we need to love what we do. Now, we have the filming to consider……. Great comment. Hugs
The chest of drawers are so handsome and so are you Patrick and Stewart. 😊
That is incredibly sweet of you Rose. Thank you ❤❤❤
Also leaving a comment to boost the algorithm. You guys are great and more people need to be watching and enjoying your videos!
Thank you so much Veronica. That is incredibly kind of you. Hugs 😊❤😊
I take down my decorations when I feel like it:) Some years I’m anxious to have all the excess gone and other years I enjoy the extra warmth.
Anna, I absolutely love ❤️ your take on! Thank you for sharing 💗💖💗
I do the same.@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452
I enjoy my Christmas decorations. I leave them up until January 6th. By that time I'm ready to take them down and give the house a good cleaning!
Hi Colleen. Thank you so very much for sharing. That is such an amazing memory. How fantastic. 😊😊
Appreciate your good humor in the face of multiple banal challenges! Onward & upward!
Thank you Debra. We cannot lay down and capitulate. As you staid, onward and upward. Hugs ❤
So sorry that happened! Leaving a comment of support to help you out. My husband and I love your show. Thank you for the time you put into it❤
Thank you so much!
Thank you very much Dawn. We appreciate your comment and support. Hugs to the two of you 😊😊😊😊
Hello Patrick and Stuart! ❤
Yes! Well said! So much work. So pretty. Enjoy as long as you feel like it.
Hi Jennifer. I totally understand what you mean. When we lived in northern Illinois with constant snow till April, I always left the big garland with lights and crystals to keep a winter barrier. 😊. And also, it is a lot of work……. Sending you lots of love from Colombe ❤
@@RC-fo2xqabsolutely right. Thank you 😊
I’m from the USA and live in Amish country and we always leave our decorations up until Old Christmas which is January 6th. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. 😊😊
That is so interesting. Thank you for sharing. It makes sense. Huge hugs from Colombe ❤
I have been watching since your channel started! Keep up the good work!!
Thank you!
Hugs and many thanks Joaquina. What a wonderful comment. ❤😊❤
Happy New Years! 5:54
I alter the Christmas decor into winter decor. That means putting the tree and bobbles away and keeping things like pine cones around, white candles and snow flakes. Celebrate winter!
Happy 2025 Bridgette. I like your approach. How nice to still have a winter decor. Thank you for sharing ❄️🤩❄️
I think the Christmas decorations are so beautiful and make me smile. Leave them up until you get tired of looking at them!
Or dusting!
Hi Keri. That is a wonderful way of looking at it. Thank you so much. ❤❤❤
@@elisabeth6108hey, also a very valid point! Thank you ❤
Boy, it’s never a dull moment for you guys… my hat’s off to you!
You deserve it ❤
You’ll surpass your goals with viewers Patrick and Stuart👩🌾Just sayin 👩🌾👍
I love your comment Wanda ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Congratulations on completing the next stage towards fiber optic internet!!! 🤣
I try to always leave a comment, but good idea for simple ones, for those rare occasions when I’m not excessively chatty. 😁
Thank you. It is such an attractive chest…. We love it. I love your comment with the memories of your dad. That must have been such fun. Now,I’d say they were smarter in the 1960s……. No rodent feed cables 😂😂😂😂😂. Huge hugs❤
We always wait until after January 6 which is Three Kings Day. I love watching you two. So talented.
The Three Kinds Day seems to be what most viewers prefer. Thank you Marilyn. You are very kind ❤❤❤
Luv your chats gents. We take ours down on the 6 th January the 12 th day of Christmas.
😊
Thank you Aileen. I often think…. Where does all that crazy stuff come from that I say? 😂😂😂. We will do that too, 12th day of Christmas. Hugs😊
In Alaska you leave your white lights on until the last team crosses the finish line of the Iditarod in March. I loved it because it was so dark all day. It cheered you up.
Hi Kim. I absolutely agree with you. We store the decorations but the garlands with the lights stay……. Makes the winter easier to bare. Hugs ❤❤❤
Hugs😊
Growing up we took down Christmas Decorations around Epiphany which is Jan 6th (12th day of Christmas). Usually the weekend closest to that date…
Hi Chris. We’d better get busy tomorrow….. 😮😂😮. At least I know what I will do this weekend. Great comment. Thank you😊
This is one of the best chateau videos on RUclips and I never miss Patrick and Stuart. Perhaps the person at RUclips who made this unbelievable decision is related to the person who thought a corn cable would be a good thing. Oh dear, more people who lack common sense sitting in more offices making silly decisions. Leave your decorations up as long as you like. It's your house.
Thank you! ❤️
Julia….. what can I say? I absolutely adore your sense of humour. We were laughing out loud. I think you are absolutely spot on…. Too many idiots in positions they are not qualified to fill…. 😮😂😮😂😮. Thank you so very much. Much love from Colombe ❤
Congratulations 🎉on fiber optics--yes what a pain! I remember my friends in Tasmania going thru this 15 yrs ago ( no chateau attics but outside digging) it made a big difference for them! Re decoration-when the mood strikes-is how I live! There are NO RULES! Whatever pleases you most! This I wish for you in 2025!❤
We are so excited. Now everything is prepared. It is happening soon. Hugs from Colombe 😊
Come folks if your watching please give a thumbs up. X
Thank you so much Cherie. We talked about that with Jane and Tony the other day. Hugs
Now I know you will say “ I digress too much” well you don’t.😉
I think between you when you have the chateau up to a standard that your happy with, personally I think you could do wonders running retreats or courses from anything from Fine arts to restoration , gardening(you could have Ron Robertson giving talks on Roses etc ) cookery demonstrations and loads more as you both are very skilled professionals in your own rights.
Hi Patrick and Stuart,
I used to take down Christmas decorations on the Feast of the Epiphany ( January 6th).
@ such a kind comment. Thank you
❤ I'm leaving my Christmas decorations up for a January Birthday, my Grandson called it his birthday tree, so it shall be.
That is beautiful Mary. Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤❤
Kim, that is a great way to approach the storage of Christmas decorations….. step by step. Great comment. Thank you😊
I've watched you from the very beginning. Love everything you do. Can't wait to see what you do this year.😊
Thank you so very much Elizabeth. That is very kind of you ❤❤❤. Hugs from Colombe 😊
Wow! I know laying the conduit was a dirty, challenging job, but we got to see places in the chateau we wouldn’t normally see!😁
Hi Marsha. You are absolutely right. I didn’t look forward to it but……. How exciting to see the spaces. Huge hugs ❤
I take my decorations down when I feel like it.
Hi Kathy. I think that and having the time to do it, makes sense. And for some families it is tradition. Also a lovely way to look at it. Huge thank you. ❤
Your Chateau is coming along lovely, it's looking beautiful.
Thank you for your very sweet and kind comment. ❤❤❤
we wait until January 6 -- after 12th night -- following the British tradition -- and agree that the outdoor decorations/lights are weather-dependent! However, no more illumination outdoors after the evening of January 5
These remarks are fascinating! It is so nice when people say where they are posting from ...all over the world and lots in America who are from the 'old' countries too!
That is so true. It is always amazing. And all the different traditions. Devine. Hugs from your friends at Colombe 😊
decor goes up Dec 5..beginning of Epiphany[Dutch Christmas,,am half Dutch] all goes down Jan7 ..day after Epiphany ends
Hugs Esther. That’s a great way to organize it. Thank you 😊
Love your channel.
Hugs
Great work Patrick and Stuart getting those cables in for the ‘edible’ fibre optic wiring😂. What a nightmare !! Great work on the furniture👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hi Barbara. I feel like I should try how it tastes….. but Stuart reminded me that I’m not a rodent…. 😮😮😂😂😮😮. Hugs. ❤
Thank you so much. Sending you love from Colombe ❤
Thank you gentlemen. You always put out your videos regularly and they are always interesting and upbeat. I hope all goes well with your fibre optic situation
Thank you Eleanore. Stuart is a very self disciplined man. We are looking forward to better internet. Hugs and love from Colombe ❤
I was not unsubscribed, but I checked and rechecked. You guys are doing a terrific job and it’s a pleasure to watch you every week. Keep up the good work! 👍👍👍
Thank you so much Cindy for checking and for your wonderful comments. Hugs from Colombe ❤
I’ve watched you two from the very beginning and have loved every one of your posts.
It’s such a beautiful chateau, you have both made so much difference already, and I do admire that as for the most part it’s just been the two of you.
I look forward to another year with you both. xx
Dear Jane. Thank you for sticking with us on this crazy journey. To a new year and more finished projects! Hugs ❤
Hi Patrick & Stuart, I take my Christmas decorations down on the Twelfth Night, also known as Three Kings Day, the evening before the Epiphany. Great job on your Chest of Drawers.
Thank you so much. I think this will become our tradition too. Great comment. ❤❤❤
Wow, what a job. Haha, "corn made conduit." Hope Figgy had a good Christmas. 🌟
Figgy loved Christmas. Thank you so much. And it was quite a joyful job. 😂😂😂😂. Hugs
💕
Darling Stephanie. I’d say you made your own traditions! In England one has to be done removing the decorations before midnight of Epiphany……. Or it’s bad luck all year long. See you are avoiding the bad luck by going early. We started today.
The prep work for the optic cable……. I was soooo filthy but it is done.
Love and a happy and healthy 2025 for you and your family ❤
Sometimes, I'm so busy watching I forget to leave a comment but always give a thumbs up at the beginning of the video .
Thank you Ann. I forget to give our videos a thumbs up at times. 😮😂😮. Thank you for your support ❤❤❤❤
Happy New Year. My Christmas decorations are still up until next week. I put too much work to take them done right away. I want to enjoy them.
That is a great point Linda. ❤❤❤. Thank you for sharing 😊
As you can see, it's all a bit complicated 😅
@patrickjourneytothechateau9452
Hi Joan. That is a fantastic idea. Progressive decorating. Love it 💗💖💗. Indeed the trees take up a lot of space. Much love from Colombe ❤
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 I hope it settles soon, how awful when people work so hard to grow a channel. So proud of you guys x
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 I think you've fulfilled your dream in a broader respect. ☺
Keep up the great work always watching
Thank you very much Kim! ❤😊❤
Regards
Charles
Thank you!💕
Dear Charles. Thank you for your incredibly kind comment. We do have an amazing friendship with some of the fellow chateau owners and we have such a lively community with them 😊😊😊
We used to have live trees and…. Since we miss them, will have some next year again.
The trees give such an amazing atmosphere, I completely agree. Hugs and again, thank you ❤
I watch every episode and give a thumbs up! ❤
Thank you very much Deidre ❤❤❤. 🎉
Huge hug😊
I hit the notification button every time I watch you. It should be obvious to RUclips that I am actively subscribed.
Happy New Year, Patrick, Stuart, Pups, and Figgy!
Same to you dear Rick 😊❤😊
A wee comment just for you. 😊
The chest came out beautifully! Lovely piece 🎉
Thank you Tammie. ❤❤❤
I usually take my decorations down by January 6th. Sometimes earlier! They seem to be clutter after Christmas is over. Your chest of drawers turned out beautiful! Well worth your hard work Patrick!
I think you do it right. There is a date but you do it when you feel like it. Perfect. We love the chest. So pretty. Hugs ❤
What a beautiful old chest of drawers. It looked gorgeous once waxed - gave it a new lease on life.
Thank you Michelle. It is such a warm looking chest. Hugs❤
I’m still subscribed but this is for you.❤👍👍👍🤞👏💃🕺🎄6th day of Christmas 🎅
Thank you so much Pamela. ❤❤❤❤. And January 6 it is from now on! Hugs.
Hugs!💖
watch ALL of your vlogs, just love it
Thank you Pia. ❤❤❤❤. Huge hugs
I’m really enjoying all of the videos, such a beautiful home.
Thank you so much Shannon. You are truly kind and we appreciate your support ❤
Thank you Sergey. That is incredibly well priced. We are excited to get the optic cable. Thank you for sharing. Happy 2025! 😊
@@sergeygridchin656I knew what you meant. In the USA we paid $200 each month…… 😮😮😮😮
Removing christmas decoration; i would say, after 6th of January. But you can keep some wintergreen; but the baulbs and ribbons and the bling bling can go.
I like that. Keep some green……. But the rest needs to be stored away. 👍🏻❄️👍🏻

Hi Stephanie. I like January 6 and indeed….. outside, when we can. Huge hugs 😊
Leave your decorations up for as long as you are enjoying them!❤ I have even left a tree or two up and decorated them for Valentines Day, St. Patrick's day, etc.❤❤ Your dogs are SO ADORABLE!!!❤
Hugs Lori. I think that is a great and creative way to enjoy decorations. Thank you so much ❤❤❤
Your beautiful crystals and some snowflake ornaments would be a lovely winter themed tree also. Hugs to you and yours!💞
😂😂😂. Hugs 😊
Hi in Ireland we taken down decorations on the sixth of January or when you feel like it
Thank you Ann. I think January 6 is a good benchmark. But I love…… or when you feel like it ❤❤❤.

I got a little silly this Xmas with my family and my kids said to me” Mom you need help with your drinking problem” so I hired a bartender! 😂😂😂
🤣
Salût et bonne année Susanne. Thank you so much. We checked with channels that have almost 500,000 subscribers and get 340 comments! We are absolutely overwhelmed and happy by this commitment of our viewers and it clearly shows that RUclips is not honest.
Enjoy your retirement and every day!
I will take your advice for the next big event……. And hire a bartender too. 😂😂😂. Absolutely fantastic. Love from your friends at Colombe ❤❤❤❤❤

UK decorations are traditionally taken down on 6th January ("Three Kings Day" or "Epiphany"). Good Luck getting the fibre optic cable installed. 🤞🤞🤞

Hi Stuart & Patrick, in Aust we traditionally take decorations down at 12 days so this year will be 6th Jan .Good work on the fibre 👏
