    I write purchase date and open date directly on the product packaging ( for most of my product). That way I always know :)

    This is such a good video! I work in FDA-controlled diagnostic blood tests & medical devices, and it always blows my mind the contrast in regulation when it comes to cosmetics & supplements! ALL the regulation vs. none of the regulation 🤯

    My mom had an eye infection when she was about 6. They lived in a very poor, rural area, and had no access to medical treatment. She lost a substantial amount of vision in that eye. She was a STICKLER for taking care of cosmetics-especially MASCARA. I learned very early not to share, and to toss after 3 months. When I open a product, I put the date on a little slip of paper AND TAPE IT TO THE PRODUCT. Also, those who like to use liner pencils for tightlining or on the waterline, JUST DON’T. It makes my ophthalmologist CRAZY! He sees at least two cases of infection PER WEEK! Loved the video! Thank you!

      I learned early, when I first started using makeup, that mascara can harbor bacteria. I got a horrible rash on my eyelids. My doctor said it was most likely caused by mascara. Since then I am always careful, I replace my mascara every two months. I label every cosmetic I use with the date I opened it. I keep very few cream products, only lipstick (and I don’t keep many of those) because I think they turn bad more quickly than powder products.

    Can you do a video on fall/winter colors that springs can wear? I’m a spring but I struggle finding colors to wear that fit with the season in fall and winter

    I still have the spatulas for a couple products in jars. I saved a nice glass spatula & use it with my cleansing balm. I apply sunscreen with a brush that I wash with my makeup brushes. I bought a bag of inexpensive disposable spatulas & keep them in my bathroom. If a jar doesn't have a spatula I use those. It's important to wash your tools & brushes regularly. As well as your hands.

    Thank you So much for this video. I have a lot is passion around this topic. Cosmetics spatulas are so at Ulta, Target and a number of places. I think there may be some sold at Etsy too. I keep a small jar in the bathroom of unused clean spatulas and have another jar to place used spatulas. And I love that Tatcha has a holder for the spatula on the top of the lid. There are websites and apps available to help determine the manufacture date by inputing the brand and batch code. I often think about what happened to the quality and safety of cosmetics during the pandemic when goods sat on ships because there were not enough workers available to unload the goods. Also during that time period, I think brands often had to make a decision if they needed to do business with a less trustworthy supplier because their suppliers of choice were out of stock on the ingredients needed to make cosmetics. I attended a lecture about pet food quality (stay with me, it will also apply to our topic). The lecturer stressed people need to no only be concerned about the ingredients but also (and possibly more important) the distribution center and transport practices used to deliver goods both going to and from the warehouse, the distribution center for major retailers and transportation to the store or directly to the customers. She mentioned one organization where the trucks loaded with pet food were parked on the side of the road for hours during extremely hot weather until it was time for them to unload the food. As you mentioned in the video, every hop on the supply chain has at least one potential failure point where the quality and safety of products can be compromised. Thank you again for making this video.

    Great video ladies❤looking lovely as usual. I’m guilty of having several Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes probably they are 4 years old.. 😢do I have to throw these out? They don’t look, smell, bad or irritate my skin.. Eyeliner and Mascara I totally agree! Also what are your favorite brands of makeup?

      During the pandemic I saw several videos on how to disinfect powder makeup such as eyeshadow. You find a spray bottle that gives a fine mist, fill it with 70% rubbing alcohol. Lightly spritz your powder product, give it a few minutes to evaporate then you can use the product again. I’ve been doing that periodically since the pandemic. Another important thing to do is keep your makeup brushes and sponges clean.

    I keep a sharpie in my bathroom & write down date of purchase on any skincare/ haircare items. I do the same with my makeup. Powder products can be easily sterilized but I do not keep any powder cosmetics especially eyeshadow older than 5 yrs ( this is why you shouldn't buy too many palettes, you'll never get good use before they expire) Most of my now go-tos & regularly repurchased skincare & haircare products I use up quickly so I don't have to be as vigilant but when I was trying lots of stuff, I definitely needed to keep track of how old it was. If I couldn't remember when I bought it, I tossed it. Mascara & liquid liner needs to be replaced every 3 months. Cream/ liquid cosmetics should be watched more carefully. Larger net weight isn't always desirable if it goes bad before you can use it. I often buy mini & travel size for this reason since I don't wear makeup everyday I just don't use up full size products anymore.

      How do you sterilize powder products? I have a bunch of eyeshadow palettes that seem ok. They don’t smell weird and the consistency seems normal. I totally get tossing liquid or gel products fairly quickly but struggle getting rid of my powder stuff ( eyeshadow, powder blush, etc)

      @@agstyle-di2omto sterilize powder products, find a spray bottle that gives a fine mist, fill it with 70% rubbing alcohol, spritz your powder products quickly and lightly, give it a few minutes to evaporate, now your product is sterilized. I saw several videos by medical professionals during the pandemic on how to do this. It works.

    For skin, I like a lot La Roche-Posay, but I don’t know if it comes by boat or airplane !! What’s about lip gloss ? How much time can I keep it ?

    • @dogwalker97
      @dogwalker97 2 месяца назад +1

      Labels will vary in different countries. In the US, expiration dates and batch (lot) numbers are on LaRoche Posay products either on the label or if the product is in a tube it can be imprinted into the top seam of the tube which can be hard to see unless you are in a brightly lighted location. Using your phone camera or a magnifying glass can help.

    Please do more research on this subject before you put out videos. The EU standards are really not better than ours. The EU is very quick to approve products, but then very quick to remove them. Parabens can produce estrogen like hormones, but there have never been any tests that show that these are harmful to humans in the amount that would be found in a cosmetic. They also cause way fewer allergies than some of the preservatives that are now being used. As for the coral reefs, the evidence is not clear that in organic. Substances are any better than organic ones. I hate the terms chemical versus non-chemical, because everything is made up of chemicals.

      Yep. I had allergy patch testing a few years ago after several bouts of dermatitis. I'm not allergic to parabens, but I am allergic to phenoxyethanol--which is one of the common preservatives now that parabens have fallen out of favor. :(

    Your colors you both wore today weren’t great. Lucinda’s turtleneck was too bright and Sara’s was too grey and maybe too light. Hair back and makeup adjustments were not enough. Not great examples of modifying hair and makeup, might be the opposite. I mean you both look ok, just don’t think it really supports your thesis.
