I am so proud of Peterbilt for thinking of the tall turban wearing steering wheel holders with the added headroom.
Don’t forget they drive from the top floor of the skyscraper and a foot on the dashboard 😂😂
My biggest problem with these new trucks is the price! Quarter million dollar trucks doesn’t make any cents let alone dollars in 90% of trucking operations today. Unfortunately I’ve been priced out of the new market.
What makes any new truck not worth two cents is the emissions and elogs. You may as well stay parked at a repair shop.
Quarter million? I'm from Canada they're around half a mil here
I prefer 359 ,379 and 389 ...sorry but!!!
Only worth 30,000
Drive it for 1-2 years, 3 tops, standard warrenty 500k miles. Write off depreciation, get a good cpa/tax-attorney, trade in for new one. Rinse & repeat. Rarely be down for repairs. Get better value with 100+k warrenty left on it.
Not like it used to be. Purchase your dream truck. Rebuild as needed, put 2-4 million miles on it. Everything is throw away nowadays. I prefer the old way over the new throw away way.
Keeping one over the initial warrenty. Will cost 7-8k for one year extended, 12-13k for 2 year. Throw in that cost plus lost revenue from down time. Lead time on parts & labor. You can be down for weeks or months. Inflation, rebuild is 30-40k, even just bearings, rings, sleeves, 15-20k.
Better off taking a 50-75k loss on trade in 2 years. Writing off as much depreciation as posible. Which lowers your loss on trade to new one. Rarely down, everthing covered by factory warrenty.
Takes business know how nowadays.
I’ve owned 2 379s,a 579 and currently a 389.The 3 series cab is a Peterbilt,it has the right ergonomics, the right visibility and mostly the right looks.Having owned a 579 for a couple years I know the 2.1 cab is quite and comfortable but it looks and feels like a Sterling or Volvo. As a single truck owner operator I’ve always bought my trucks used, about 3 years old, usually the second owner. My CAT powered 379s were awesome trucks. The 579 and 389 have both had emissions issues. These new trucks are not for owner operators anymore, you have to have a small fleet to cover for downtime when they’re in the shop.
Great looking 589, imagine that in a nice Blue. Legendary Blue maybe.
Well I love it. I have 579 . I think Peterbilt needed that sleeper as big as what I have in my 579. Thanks for showing this to all. Linda
I can't wait to get one of those. So NICE
Gr8 Vid of the 589 custom accessories
Very nice looking truck
Orange Blossom and I'm glad to see a manual transmission 👍🏿
You would think for the absurd prices that new trucks are selling for, they could put carpet on the floor
instead of using some cheap mud flaps 😎
I had to laugh when you were talking about how quiet it was and then you turned on the turn signal LOL.
Good grief. I'd be finding a way to make that a little quieter
I think the change is the hardest for us older guys. The first Peterbilt that I drove was a 1972 log truck.
That was when I first started driving in 1979. I loved that truck. Yes the cab was smaller and it wasn't
very quiet, but that truck had personality that none of the new trucks will ever have...
That said, the new trucks are nice. They ride good, they are quieter, the HVAC systems are incredible,
and you can run big power reliably.
One thing I definitely don't miss is having to crawl through the small window in the back of the cab to
get into the little sleeper. It was either that or open one of the sleeper doors on the outside and hoist
your butt up on the little step and try to get up on the mattress without falling off.
I love the Classic look of the 389, they're just hard for me to drive, at almost 6'4" there wasn't a lot of room, I drove mostly daycabs, which are not roomy to begin with. I now work for a Peterbilt dealership delivering new and used trucks to customers and moving them between our dealerships. So the 589 is wonderful with the bigger cab and the windshield. I especially love the bigger windshield because of the curved portion because in the winter time the snow would build up on the 389 windshield where now it slides off of the 589 windshield
Very nice truck I really like it
Needs more REAL GAUGES in the dash
I was at the plant yesterday dropping a trailer , and had to go back to the C lot
Drove by all the new 589s
They’re starting to grow on me
Makes sense
The cab has a sh$t ton more room
I should know cause I’m driving a 2021 567
Nice looking 589. Very roomy
I love it the color is awesome
Peterbilt does an awesome job with their trucks while k w really went south in quality and looks
KW still makes the W900L until 2026, Then will make a New W9 version , Hopefully U do REALIZE that the 589 is the same cab as T680, 990, 579 ,567
W900L is ALWAYZ TOP NOTCH 🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊😎🫡📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢💎🏆🥇💯🇺🇸💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰
@scottycollins1829 youd be surprised how many people are ignorant and will argue that their not the same cab even tho they are.
So 2026 for sure the last of the 900L
@@tonyfrangakis3311Yezz-Sirr,,Confirmed by KW themselves!!!!!!👍🏾😎🙌🏾🇺🇸🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊💎📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢
Love this truck as well.
Beautiful truck its just me i never buy anything newer than 2007
It looks great
Looks nice. Change is inevitable.
Have fun with chrome in the summer
Looks pretty decent done up
It's pretty cool🎉
What do you guys think about putting window chops on ? I think it will look very nice
I like the quiet in the cab .
The only problem with that is that I think it can actually be too quiet. I stopped driving in 1987, so I guess I’m old-school, but I like to be able to hear what the truck is doing. You can tell so much about what’s going on by sound.
The bow tie visors are nice! It would be nice for mounting my Verizon dashcam it would be out of the way versus my current standard drop visor. I wish the SmartNav would come with CarPlay!
I’ll stick with my 359 all day everyday
Damn right,
Can somebody (say, maybe Peterbilt…..) make a 20 or 32 oz tumbler that actually fits in the cup holders, or size the cup holder to a Yeti. Please!!!!!! 🤔🤔🤔
That Truck was sweet
Would love that visor , mirrors, and exhaust stacks on my 579
They can hooked that up for U
Same cab as a T880 Kenworth 😮
Nice. What are the two gauges in the overhead dash panel next to the CB
Love it 👌
I love the 389 and the 579 great combo. I’d take it way better then the KW990
Pending on the windshield wipers how they're set, can the wipers be set to stop a certain point? If so, what if a chrome strip down the center of the windshield for that "classic look."
Ole Greg a hanging out in the background!
If u put red watermelon on backside of air cleaners, do they hit the door when u open. I have a new 589 coming
😍 just started driving almost 2 weeks ago and thoroughly dislike the boredom of an automatic and the slugish 12 speed
I dont think it's possible to get any nicer, as far as the "Cool Factor " goes....its off the charts!
2:42 is that Greg As with Peterbilt in the background?
Hi Semi Causal
So let me ask you guys, is it possible to get a glider in the 589, not the flat top? Or a rolling chassis?
Hey what’s up bros how y’all doing much love
Not much new to the cab, it you’ve been in a 579/567. Looks the same to me.
Does Peterbilt still offer the cup holder next to the passenger seat, have had on in ALL the daycab Pete’s I’ve driven 379,389,567,579
❤
579 with an extended old school looking hood…that’s the reality
I do like them as a flat top thats nice not big on orange id Sooner go black or a nice gun metal grey but thats just me and thanks for showing how far back the seats go im 6ft 1 im in a kenworth t680 i wish i had about ft more
I’ll be honest I really don’t want to like the 589 but that truck is sweet!
Other than the price the only thing I don’t like about this truck is the shape of the doors(windows). Other than that it’s a pretty nice looking truck and with me being 6’8” I really like the extra room.
My opinion the side windows has to much glass maybe look not as bad if they put a vent window in to break-up the huge window
What are the buttons and gauges by the CB radio
They are the gauges and controls for front air ride.
I still take the 389 over the 589 anyday
Question: what were the controls to the left of the CB?
I think for the front air bags
Is it for sale
When are the genuine peterbilt interior accessories going to be available?
They have been out for a while, they did a video in early fall of 23
What are the gauges beside the cb???
Those are for the front air bags
@@SEMICasualShow gotcha....that's a cool location for them 👍🏻
I was about to say “why do you have mud flaps inside the truck? lol
Nice, but I can’t understand Peterbilt making it look more like a KW
I don't think it's Peterbilt, it's Paccar, it's a universal cab for the 567, 579, 589, T680, T880, and W990
Mudflaps? Floor mats? Mud mats? Floorflaps?
Lol
@@SEMICasualShowjust asking can you get a Ultra Loft Sleeper in a 589, like you can a 567
The interior is way bigger and better, the driver don’t of to be struggling between seats to get to the bunk.
587 with a nose is what it looks like to me
Is it me, or is the 589 really a 579 with a 379 nose?
Yes, Peterbilt, 567, 579, 589, Kenworth, T680, T880, W990 are a universal cab,
That’s what it is…definitely not a genuine 389 successor!
They should have dumbed down the dashboard and got rid of the digital dash or at least had an option to get rid of the digital dash... Move the cruise control to the actual dashboard instead of the steering wheel and enabled drivers to install custom steering wheels....
Basically Peterbilt took all the fun out of having a custom Peterbilt and turned it into a plastic corporate money making tool It's either our way or the highway....
Review ????.....Infomercial I suspect 😁😁
Paccar has a new cookie cutter cab..... 589, t880, w990.... all the same..... rite down to the door bell dinger.... hydraulic clutch in all.... only difference is a peterbilt emblem..... you could always get black interior in W900L or western stars.... RIP.... PETERBILT
Don't forget 567, 589, T680, are the same
KW. drive one every day. Junk
AWESOME!!!
Complaining about a truck being too comfortable is the most super trucker thing ever.
Super truckers do drive cooler rigs…
I drive a t680 right now, and hate it. The ergonomics are utter garbage. The windshield is way to big, the cab boils or freezes because of it. Wind noise is monstrous, everything bein so aerodynamic. Lastly the rattles, everything squeaks.
Believe it or not the 567, 579, 589, T689, T880, W990, is the same cab and windshield
@davidwright4707 thats why i made my comment. The only real difference is the petes have more driver leg room, due to the separate bunk and cab.
My old 379 was more comfortable, less noisy, and higher quality.
as a european interior dosent look complete without pelmet and side curtains
Don’t like 22.5 inch rubber. 24.5 low pro all the way!
Then immediately after go drive a 389 And realize it's a much better truck. Just doesn't have climate control.
Air assisted clutch is a huge mistake!!!! Can't control your jake with the play in the clutch on the micro switch. No trolley brake for flowboy trailers feeding asphalt pavers. These companies are building trucks like shit!!!!
Gay
What, you new young drivers, first the clutch is only for take off,2nd that dashboard just ain't right without all those nice crome gauges, and quiet, what,I whant to hear my Peter car screaming, and see the black Cole rolling out,man that's just butchery
hideous large front bumper. personally think covers on the front hubs look much better then the painted hubs. after all the awesome work they leave the clean air sticker on the driver door. I would bet that their has never been a citation given for that on a truck of that caliber.
The sticker probably has to be on the truck when they sell it out of their dealership.
HIDEOUS are those ALIEN HEADLITES
@@scottycollins1829you mean the stock headlights. Just freaking say stock headlights.
Get over it @@scottycollins1829
The dashboard is terrible if they incorporated a different dash it would be different all that money for a hooded truck with the same dashboard as a plastic throw away truck peterbilt should be ashamed for the hat Long live the W900L
still HATE that damned dashboard...looks like it came out of a chevy suburban!!!
Drove just about every kind of truck made was a Kenworth in a peach the Cavs are just too narrow not enough room that's exactly why I always stuck with Volvo or freight shakers comfort and room is what I desire in a truck
