The mall used to be a fun place for us teens back in the 80s. It looks like a ghost town now. But like you said it used to be packed. Sometimes you couldn’t get a parking spot esp on Friday or Saturday. It’s sad to see it like that. And Staples used to be a grocery store.
My parents and I lived in pine grove from 1986 to 1988. But I do remember a pool being there though. Wish there was stores near by then. I walked to the mall a lot. I moved in the late 90s from Elyria. Haven’t been back.
In the beginning was that the old Roosevelt Elementary? I lived on Melvyn Lane for many of my childhood years. Everything looks vaguely familiar. LOL. Thx.
Wasn’t that a photo Matt where the free wood is ? Lol! I’m not sure if it was in that location or not but there used to be one around there somewhere. I remember when sears had a cafe.
I used to live in Elyria 30 years ago move out here by Norwalk Ohio Recently I did a train video of Norfolk Southern That's runs through there unfortunately the city of a Elyria has turned into a wasteland dump It's sad to see that happened to city of Elyria In the sixties and seventies it used to be a thriving place to be But not any more I don't recommend anybody ever going to the city of Elyria anymore Since the democrats run it down To the ground At all costs never go down Fuller road by Wilkes villa There's always shootings going on every night around there So beware Thanks for the documentary
Nice drive-thru. been there many times. Lowes is across the highway at the end. The movie theater is still open. The black mall building is Johnny K's motor sports. they sell motorcycles, wave runners and boats. It used to be May Co. then Kauffman's then Macy's. The Lorain Port Authority just got a loan from the City of Elyria to buy it. not sure what they'll do with it. It won't be retail. right now the mall's still open a few stores and mall walkers. Its' sad. like losing a friend.

Thank you for the information
There are 2 better nicer malls not far away. Great Northern Mall and Sandusky Mall.
On Fillmore the last house was mine

I don't think you'll have any issues in those apartments, however there are better apartments out there if you're able to pay a little more for rent.
