    This was a great step by step. I have an older cedar strip with a couple holes that I am about to renew and feeling daunted by going from simple woodworking to fiberglassing over the hard work. Your statement there really struck home to where my stress is. Nice to know I'm not the only one.

    Looked like a lot of knots in the cedar, especially some large ones. Did you cut out bad spots and scarf joint any of the strips to limit waste and eliminate weaks spots in wood, or did you figure the epoxy would take care of it all?

      Thank you and thanks for watching. I wish I would have done a better job putting on the bead and cove, made sure the strips were tighter when putting them on the forms, been a little more careful sanding the strips, wipe off epoxy drips and runs before it dries, I think that might be it

      Are you stapling or using clamps?

    • @carlhornback5087
      @carlhornback5087 Год назад

      @@seamancustombuilds2553 just clamps, I first tried staples but they would pull out when I bent the strip, was using T50 9/16 staples, do the sprips have to lay flat ?

    • @stevemccormick4938
      @stevemccormick4938 Год назад

      @@carlhornback5087 Yes, or fairing will be a nightmare and you will thin the core too much in doing so. Use what even tools you need to flatten them. I glue a strip on the station mould back from the edge then install a clamp. I have also used rubber bands to do the same. I cut up old bike tubes for rubber bands.
