- The conclusion of All Hands Magazine's mini-documentary series is here, but our recruits are just beginning their careers as they earn the right to say "I'm a U.S. Navy Sailor," graduating boot camp and prepare to be forged by the sea. (U.S. Navy video/Released)
Next... Making a Sailor: Episode 7 - "First Command, What did I get myself into....again"

Jeffrey Ward or beware the blue falcons
Jeffrey Ward yes. That is what we need next
Sazzandara 1996 CAW! CAW!
Just wait till they see the fleet mind sets will change
To all the future sailors who have watched up until this point, I give you one word of advice: Persevere. Persevere through the beatings, through the yelling and screaming, through the confusion, through the constant scrutiny and evaluations, through everything keeping you from your final goal. To become a United States Sailor. Because let me tell you, it's worth it.
Sorin Markov What beatings are you talking about? They don’t beat the recruits in boot camp.
CrankyPants not actually beating them. Its just a term for when you get punished and have to do exercises
Boot camp 1972, punch in the gut for messing up a general order, not a beating but an attention getter.. never messed up again. And agree with Markov...well worth the efforts. I’d do those 8 years again in a heartbeat
Sorin Markov I will take this advice and hopefully remember this throughout my life now, and during boot camp.
Thank you sir/ma'am
i signed a page 13 verifying i wouldn't talk about battle stations. now they are showing raw footage of it.....
They show but don't tell
You see a glimpse of battles stations. I signed the same page and this shown right here is what I had already found on the internet. CNN did a documentary on battle stations and still didn’t show very much of it.
The Page 13 is mainly in reference to not spoiling or giving out the "answers" to the evolutions during BST. The footage shown here is not in any sort of sequence and doesn't give anything away
Deoreos brooooo fr?!
I was like wtf.. they told us not to talk about it either
Once I received that Navy ball cap I broke down in tears. Division 352! Navy vet 1999-2012
Dibiase cry baby
Gabe uchiha Sharingan user you wouldn’t understand. I honestly don’t understand either, but still. The people that go through this have been through a lot of hard training
Thank you for your service sir/ma'am
this is perfect timing, because i ship out tomorrow. Update: I graduated November 9th and I am now at my a-school
Good luck 💙
Dont step on the flags in the middle of the P-way
I'll be at meps tomorrow ship out Wednesday good luck to you
@DJM965 good luck to you too
@Lisa Tucker Thank you!
8:36 that was me hugging my dad for the first time in 2 months. When I tell you that graduation was the greatest moment of my entire life, I mean no exaggeration by that. I never knew this series was filmed until just now, there is a lot that they didn’t show but it was pretty accurate! To anyone who is wondering weather or not joining the navy is the right choice, it is and it will change your life forever!
Sean Collins - What a special/proud moment of you and your father. Thank you for your service to our country. I hope all is well and wishing you nothing but the best. GO NAVY! 🙏💙🇺🇸⚓
Wtf you didn’t see the cameras all the time?
What are your views about going to boot camp during winter, being that I live in Michigan are winters are colder then Chicagos so I'm already adapted to the coldest?
Congratulations
He’s not lying graduation is the best feeling ever navy is the way to go fr
Man things have changed and it's only been a few years.
Few advice for future sailors:
Squeeze in some light workouts during P-Days (push ups, curl ups, jumping jacks) or else you're gonna feel like crap once the PT and PRT starts.
Know the ranks, General Order, Sailor's Creed, etc before shipping out, it'll save you some hassle.
Just do what you're told, show discipline, get along with your division and be on time!
Snag a leadership position, you may advance rank after graduating ;)
And never give an excuse. You always have "no excuse, Chief" for any inevitable screw up.
Also if you're on time, you're late. If you're early, you're on time
What are p days
@@quarantinesquad3422 processing days, before you begin week 1 you get processed
I'm proud of these young Sailors! Carrying on the watch and leading the way so that others may follow.
RhettyforFun Take my watch i got the 2000-0700
Gooooooo **NAVY!**
I **really like** Rachel Jones! She comes across as the warmest, happiest person you could ever meet!
To everyone who is going soon: remember that little book they gave you? Study it completely and your life will be much easier. 90% of your first test will be on there. You will be asked questions while you're being inspected and they will come directly from that book. Mostly Chain of Command, 11 General Orders, and rank insignia.
Good luck to everyone! It's a bit tough, but stay motivated! See those happy faces? The proud parents? That will be you!
Thank you. More people heading off for boot camp need to realize the importance of the START Guide. I've been studying it, myself, as should everyone else.
It's a lot to memorize and I got 2 weeks to study all of it before I leave Oct 2nd
@@aguythatlikesrice8075 it's not like they're gonna fail you for not knowing. It just makes your transition much easier. You'll get yelled at less if you know it.
Chain of Command, General Orders, Rank. Those are the big ones. Break it down into smaller pieces. I remember certain things about my 11 General Orders. Like 6 and 11 are long. (6 is half way and 11 is last it's about night so 11 at night), 4 is like golf when you yell to let others know what is coming, 5 is like when you get off work from 9-5 job. Just remember certain pieces about it.
Also when you get your Blue Jackets Manual KEEP IT! EVEN AFTER A SCHOOL! That shit is on your advancement exams. Keep your notes from A School. Those are a majority of your questions on your advancement exams.
@@KingoftheSage fuck i threw mine away thinking i wasnt ever ganna need it 😂😂😂 i take my e4 exam in march of 2019 wish me luck lol
@@juangarcia-br9rp howd the exam go?
Wow..bring tears to my eyes..I remember when I was in boot camp just coming from Jamaica it was difficult at first people shouting telling me to drop and give 20..I was like What..hell no..
This made me cry. Very emotional. Congrats. I'm going to my nephew's graduation at the end of the month. He will be a Sailor too.

Making a Sailor: Episode 8 - “Going to Captain’s Mast”
Lol yup
Bruh
Nice series. But you will never know what boot camp is like until you actually go and do it yourself. That goes for any branch.
I went from being worried and anxious about going to boot camp to being excited after watching this series. Nice. My ship date's the 18th of this month. I'm ready.
This whole series made me help melt all of my fears of boot camp and helped me realize that it’s an obstacle that I can overcome and that it’s not an impossible feat. It’s honestly got me pretty excited for it, I can’t wait to get in the mix and really start my adult life. I ship in 21 days and it can’t come fast enough!
Esca how is the asvab test is it like the book
So proud of you you’ll do amazing when do you ship out
Esca, I was 34 when I went to RTC. (bit of a midlife crisis, actually). So, I was the old man of my division (even though this one dude was 4 months older, and about 40 seconds slower than me. Lol). It was, by far, one of the hardest things I've ever done, but not fur the reasons you may think.
I was in terrible shape going in to it. I literally put out my last cigarette, 10 minutes before boarding my plane to fly to Chicago. Don't worry about getting in shape, as that will take care of itself.
I physically did things I never thought I would be able to do after I turned 23 or so. And, for the most part, I enjoyed about 97% of it.
I'm sure you'll love it.
I want to see other updated series like this but for other positions in the army and navy
Fawsiya This is navy lol
oh shit... lol
Fawsiya what did you think it was haha
FoRZ ClOuDz I meant like different positions in the navy
The marines did an episode called earning the title on paris island
The Nation and it's citizens are proud of all of you. We thank you for your service and wish you fair winds and following seas always. May God guide and protect you!
Sad to see this series end, but congrats to all those new Navy Sailors. Hope to enlist soon and go in by next year once I graduate high school; hope to become an FMF HM, see you soon Navy, Hooyah!
I need an update ! Haha I’m a corpsman too
Being a Navy veteran watching this makes me proud. Carry on fellow shipmate!! HOOYAAH!!
this mini series was put together so brilliantly! i love how we see the stories of theses sailors and where they came from and what they achieved :). i want to join the Royal Australian Navy after school, but seeing these people become USN sailors is still amazing!
I was at navy boot camp, San Diego, sum. '63 when I was 20 yrs. old. 1st few days, I thought I had made a big mistake! Now, I'm glad I served. Good luck to all in boot camps in all branches of mil. service. Later, you'll be glad that u, too, served ur country.
So like if i join the navy down here in socal will i be shipped out somewhere else for training?
Never was part of the US Navy or anything related to the US Army, but still even watching this series inspired me to make a path for all of my goals. You can change the paths, but never change your goals.
A very well done series. Good job "All Hands" staff

Mfs dont look tired to me after battlestations 😂. My buddy fell asleep while standing like 7 times and trucked me each time because he was falling over😂.
facts dude. i fell asleep while marching the day after battlestations
@@alecburns5528 We had pictures pick up the morning after battle stations, and the whole division staggered there like we were drunk.
Did y'all do the old Battle Stations or the BS2K or whatever it's called now?
We were completely exhausted, after running to one end of RTC to the next all night.
Nah I did the new one, Battlestations 21 on the same mock up ship in the video. That Chief that received the recruits at the beginning of their battlestations was my 1st RDC
Man as many times I've slept while standing up. In line for almost everything LOL, Chow, hair-cut, shots LOL
This episode Had be crying tbh. I leave for bootcamp in DEC! This motivated me even more. I’m excited for this new journey ❤️
Cristina Garcia Navy bootcamp is easy man mentally its sorta tough have someone write you get addresses before you ship out but be confident in everything you do and you’ll make it i just graduated a school ill be going to my next command soon be confident and you can do anything in the Navy.
lol its gonna be cold good luck
ColaKhanable wow you just graduated. It’s crazy because I’ve heard about ppl failing so that’s what scares me the most. I know that I am a strong person and have dealt with a lot so mentally I know I am a strong person. I just think sometimes I’m giving everything my job and all and leaving my apartment and joining so if I fail bootcamp it will all be for nothing. And I am driven to not give up in bootcamp I know I can do this.
Devin Kelly omg I know and I’m from Florida yo 🤦♀️
When i went to Great Lakes back in 1986, i told my recruiter not to send me there after SEPT(because of the weather). Back in my day, you had 3 boot camps: Great Lakes, Orlando(for females), and San Diego. I tried to go to Orlando but it was booked solid until OCT and i didnt want to go to San Diego. I told the recruiter Great lakes but it had to be right after the 4th of July(my favorite holiday). BAM!!! Great Lakes, July 10, 1986. Graduated Sept 19th. *side note* IT WAS SO DAMN HOT THAT SUMMER IT HAD TO BE ONE OF THE HOTTEST SUMMERS IN CHICAGO HISTORY...and i love the heat.
As a ten year US Army veteran I've truly enjoyed watching this series and I wish all of these new US Navy Sailors a wonderful and meaningful career in the US Navy. Congratulations Sailors!!!
That dude said 8 o'clock at night. 2000 shipmate
I think they might have told him to use civilian words so people not in the service would understand it.
This was cringe af. Please stop.
what a boot thing to say lmao
Jackson woods shut up seaman sample
What a boot lmao
I loved seeing the transition from when they got to boot camp to now. One day im gonna go to navy boot camp and im going to think of these videos.
This is what drives me to keep working hard and get ready for when I leave
im trying
Me too you guys got this. Take your time too. Because you want to be prepared to pass the Phisical stuff just because you can enlist doesn't mean your Physically ready
Exactly dude thats why i appriciate my recruiter real down to earth about the goals i need to meet to go in strong keep motivated dudes 👍👍
Definitely wish me luck guys, to be physically and mentally strong for Dec. 4th
SnappierJaeBird if you not from the north nothing can prepare your for what’s to come during the cold winter months of Great Lakes I went into bootcamp December 5th 2017 and I’m from the south and when I tell you I used to pray for heat I was literally begging
I plan to join the Navy right after I'm done with high school, and i can't wait, i know it's going to hurt, it's going to be stress fueled, and hard, but i will try my best to make it through. God bless the United States Navy and all who serve and have served
Same either the navy or coast guard
It's cool watching these guys transform from citizens into sailors. 😀⚓️
But sailors are no more citizens??
My eight weeks went by too fast, boot camp was a great time for myself and my division. Killed it in BST-21. The bond made in Great Lakes will always last for everyone that passes through those gates. Hooyah division 006 and hooyah Navy!
Finally!!! So proud of these recruits. 💪🏼🙏🏼
The best feeling ever is marching into that hall and everyone watching you in uniform and your family to see you. It gives you chills and goose bumps a feeling you’ll never forget
I really admire chief Stigall
He scolded me once for entering OOD office wrong, while I was Rover Security.
This brought back so many memories... Definitely a tear jerker. Great series.
The dude is going to the same A-School I went to in Meridian. He'll love it there, one of the most laid back A-school's in the Navy. As long as you pass your first room inspection and do good on the test, you get your green card and can wear civi's and leave base right away! Standing watch from 0000-0400 talking about our lives is one of the best memories I will ever have. Hooyah Navy!
Hey brother, im not sure, but isnt pensacola supposably easier? Also, hes gonna be an AZ, so he will be held to the marine corps uniform and PT standards
Church Of Zoidberg Yeah forgot he’s gonna be working out with the Marines lol. It’s still a laid back base- and getting overnight chits is easy there, it was for me and a few of my AZ buddies. There was a very nice AZ1, I don’t remember her name but she was awesome! You’re only here for about 2 months do he better enjoy it before the fleet!
My capping ceremony after battle stations was special to me. My uncle was an rdc and he was pushing a different division. He put a spotlight on me in the beginning and put boot camp on hardcore mode for me. I had a lot of extra pressure on me. That night as we were marching to battle stations, he drove by to head home saying "don't fuck it up." It was a long night. At the end when we were getting our navy ball caps my 2nd rdc got to me, looked at me, looked to his left and waved someone over to me. I thought it was over and I failed battle stations. Next thing I knew my uncle was in front of me shaking my hand and saying he was proud of me. That was all it took. I cried. That moment replays in my head whenever things get hard or I don't want to continue. I still have that pressure from him to succeed. He told me something one time when I was in bootcamp. He said it never stops. You always have to study, you always have to work to be better, to improve. That has stuck with me. It will for the rest of my life.
the glowing feeling dims considerably when you've been on a ship for 2 years
Really glad they’ve come out with these videos. I ship out dec 10th. Been working so hard. So scared of failure, trying to prepare the best I can mentally.... wish me luck!
Sid Lauren Good luck. Just keep your focus. Do everything they tell you to do. That’s all they really want. All of the yelling is just hot air. It won’t hurt you. The regular navy is nothing like boot camp. You can do anything for 8 short weeks. It goes by so quickly. You’ll be fine. Good luck.
Did you make it?
I cried. Thank you for posting these. It’s amazing to see a behind the scenes look at what my husband went through.
The week your ship is doing battle stations was something. We were the last divisions to go, so every night we'd hear these divisions tearing up the pway, yelling war cries. The night before mine went, these female divisions were screeching like banshees, kinda frightening when you hear that echo through the building.
This was great to watch. I came here by accident looking up what the process is as my son is literally on his van ride to MEPS right now to sign up. 19 years ago this month i joined the army, My father his grandpa, spent 21 years in the army, so it was a surprise to hear he was joining the Navy, but i couldnt be prouder. I know he is watching this and will see my comments... Proud of you son.. Ill be there on graduation day..
This is just a very little part from your Navy career guys. After the bootcamp and A school, the real challenge will begin as you are going to see what the life in the Navy will be like. You will see lots of different people in different environment as well as goodness, sadness and situations. It's hard to explain what they are until you see them, but everything comes for reason, so please get yourself ready.
Congrads to all. Once a Sailor always a Sailor. For we are all shipmates. Salute and welcome aboard. Anchors Aweigh.
Whether you served 3yrs or 30, youre still a sailor.
True indeed.

Me too! Damn I miss it!
Douglas Wright nah don’t do it. I’m in it right now. Standing post In japan. Don’t take being a citizen for granted.
Isaiah why do u say so.??
I would say the opposite. Don’t take being a Navy sailor for granted. I know there’s bullshit. But the bullshit in Navy life is way better. It’s all about what you make it.
Isaiah, don't take being a Sailor for granted. Trust us.
Went through boot camp October 31 1999 to January 7 2000. First graduation class of the new millenium. Spent thanksgiving, Christmas, and new years at boot camp. Division 044. CNO division. Then off to GM a school, then to the uss kitty hawk. Got out in 2004. Crossed the equator twice
Crossed twice myself in 1987 and 1989. Went through boot camp from July 10 to September 19 1986

Congrats to the new sailors. Do your best and remember to work hard and play harder. The fleet is nothing like boot camp. You will make friends that will be tighter than family and you will pick up right where you left off, regardless of how many years its been.

How you doing now?
Hooyah guys and girls from this graduating class. HOOYAH!!!!!
Just wait until you actually have to do your job. These folks passed the most basic requirement. It's only uphill from there.
I was so glad to finally graduate from boot camp, but little did I know what nightmares were ahead of me, both in apprentice training and my squadron command. I'm glad that I joined the US Navy, seeing the world, being able to travel to foreign countries, respecting the customs, and people, making some friends in my squadron, but I don't like the fact that I am living with anxiety and P.T.S.D. due to not only boot camp and apprenticeship training, but wondering what could have been done differently.
This got me excited to goo who else leaving oct 1st??
Good luck Sailors, serve our country, the United States of America and her people well.We all know you will.

Wow so inspiring I want to become in the u.s. air force when I grow up btw I'm 13
Congratulations to all the new squids. Fair Winds and Following Seas.
I love the dress whites. Our's were so plain back in the late 60's/early 70's. Battle stations would have been nice back then. Going to GQ was a daily routine. But, the first time the BMOW said, "This is not a drill," was somewhat hair raising. Sitting down there below decks and wondering what was going on - nerve wracking. What is with the camouflage? Who the heck are you hiding from aboard ship? Our dungarees were very comfortable and extremely practical.
Our's were still plain in the late 80's as well.
We get dungarees as well.
We got 3 days out on the town, and we had to wait a week after we graduated. We just chilled and watched movies.
I love that the women wear the dixie cup caps now
Definitely a difference then the infantry training i went through but I respect it.
Wow battle stations has changed since I did it back in 2000. Getting that Navy ball cap is one of the most rewarding feelings you will ever have. BZ to all these new sailors.

Man I didn’t cry once or even get sad during my time at Boot Camp. But at graduation, when I hugged my sister, I cried like a bitch for a solid 20 secs and pulled myself together 😂😂
I graduated last week. The Capping Ceremony was incredible. So simple, but so incredibly powerful.

One of the best moments of my life. To some, this was just a breeze, but to others, it was a challenge to go farther then they ever thought possible.

Brianne Ilaban right? I remember saying if we talked about it at all it was against the page 13s we signed before actually doing it haha
They didn’t show much tbh
The navy's changed... lmao
They showed a lot of the highlights of it. When i went to battlestations, no one had no clue what was gonna happen. In the video, now they see what may be expected.
It is classified. The footage they took here didn't contain any specific parts of their procedures, they were all just shots of action scenes and stuff.
I can't wait until I become a sailor!
Now I feel I wanna become a navy seal! If I do I hope I’ll make it through boot camp
