    Fantastic Paul! Another great video. Not only is it an introductory guide to some simple, cost effective design, but a great way for a beginner to get their feet wet and gain some experience and confidence to advance to more complicated creations. You're a great instructor and encouraging coach, always thinking of your viewers. Thanks again and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.

    During the pandemic my entire production came to a screeching halt and I was forced to close down my shop ;in the interim I suffered a stroke and was side lined for another 18 months .
    Since then I have recuperated and reopened my business on a much smaller scale by adding a 10”x12” shed to my existing shed which gives me ample space to work.
    What I have learned from you is to never give up on your dreams and sometimes we must be willing to make changes.

      Thanks so much for sharing your story. I’m so pleased you’ve recovered from your health scare, and from your business being closed. The last few years have changed things for so many people, so it’s lovely to hear that you’re getting back on your feet in more ways than one. Take care mate 🙏

    That was great, anyone can try this.... and the result was impressive for the materials used.
    Great channel, great work - thanks for showing this to us all.

    Bloody brilliant!!! Gotta do it!! Many thanks. Plenty of ideas emerging for gifts. I guess we could also use the glass chip method instead of the chemical etch...... or a combination of the two, somehow??

      Cheers Ian, glad you enjoyed it!! Any number of techniques can be combined. The more the better :D . With this particular vid I just wanted to do something where you can buy the materials from recognized places, and have a go without any prior experience or equipment :)

      @@happygilder Hi Paul. Just to update you on an effort of mine, I do not have any means of etching at the moment but wanted to get a letter cut to see if my skills were up to it. Not yet!! Needs practice. However, instead of etching I sprayed the letter. Problem was that in peeling off the remaining mask it pull off a lot of the sprayed letter surface. Is that because I had sprayed onto smooth glass and the paint was not 'keyed' or do we need to knife around the painted area before peeling off the mask??

    My first mirror took me forever. Draw it out by hand then reverse the design, didn't have vinyl but I did have this clear sticky stencil but it was too thin to blast so double layer use carbon paper to transfer then cut think 20 hrs before I even got to blasting

    Paint rollers work pretty well for that vinyl application..and I have a question....why not use a paint brush for the etching cream?

    • @happygilder
      @happygilder  Год назад

      Cheers Cliff! I prefer the wooden stick because it's easier to get even coverage. A paint brush works fine though :)
