Wow! I continue to be impressed with each piece you do.
Thanks very much! 🙏
Oh wow. The amount of technique and attention to detail is truly impressive. Great work
Thank you very much!
That's an incredible piece of work! Really happy to have sat through that from start to finish. I have also attended the Ceremony of the Keys, I was then serving and went there on a date. Got a bit cheeky and flashed my ID card at a Yeoman Warder and he said, oh I was in the Royal Navy too! One call later and he said come back this evening! Never got a bar invite though, well done!!
Thanks very much, I’m really glad you enjoyed it! 🙏
The ceremony is something special. I feel very privileged to have seen it and spending the evening in the bar was something that money can’t buy. I’m honoured that the sign is hanging in there now.
Muchas gracias por los videos. Saludos desde mexico.
Superb Paul. Well done.
Thanks Alan!!
Those rolled up sticks you're using to clean the excess gold off is called a "tortillion" or "blending stump". They're paper, and theoretically you can roll your own, but I just buy them. Artists use it to smooth out and blend colored pencil/graphite/charcoal/etc .
Thanks for the info!! 🙏
What can I say. Just WOW.
Thank you!! 🙏
Whoa. That is some HEAVY sign work. What a stunning piece. Felt really rushed there towards the end, but oh man what a reveal. Thanks!
Thanks very much!!
Great Job Paul, beautiful details great step by step !!
Thanks Ton!! 🙏
I found your channel in my feed because I have been searching for tutorials on ways to apply gilding to a vintage velvet fabric for a Victorian style keepsake box I will be making for a dear friend.
Your work is gorgeous! This piece is very beautiful!
So glad I found you, and I subscribed immediately!
Thank you so much! Truly inspirational!
Lisa
Thank you very much for the kind words, I’m really glad you’re enjoying the videos!
I’ve never gilded on fabric before so I don’t have any tips unfortunately, but it sounds like a beautiful project so please share some pics of the finished piece because I’d love to see it :)
BEAUTIFUL, IMPRESSIVE ART...!!!
Thank you so much 😀
Danke dir Paul!!
🙏
Magnificent!
Thank you! 🙏
Very nice Paul. I alsow agree that using ai to creat as a short cut is where we need to be if we want to ofer a one of a kind art piece for an afordable price.
The best! Thank you!
Thanks Denis!!
Fantastic work, Paul. Those guilders tips look really different, especially the different sizes.
Thanks Jim! I made a video on how to make those tips:

Bravo!!! You really nailed it! All the different gold varieties really look nice on this piece. Great work as always 👏👏👏

@@happygilder I bet!🤣 those details looked intense to get through without blowing it!

Thanks John!
Fantastic piece of art.... love your efforts... sadly I'm older than dirt, so I haven't every socialize using new tech....
Cheers Ken! 🍻
Great job Paul looks awesome what brand paint did you use
I was wondering about CNC.
1. Apply the vinyl
2. Cut with a drag knife.
3. With a pointed tool, get the CNC to start the picking. ie, go into a corner, and move in a direct that lifts the vinyl
4. At this point I suspect you have to hand pick the lifted tabs.
5. Same for the glue, apply, use the drag knife to outline and the pointy tool to start the lift.
6. Drag knife again in the remaining glue to see if you get a controlled chip. For example a line for the stem of a leaf.
Would that work?
It might work. My main worry would be if the glass wasn't perfectly flat, the pressure of the router blade would break the glass. Unless there's a pressure setting on there you could use.
Let me know if you give it a try!
@@happygilder Can you laser vinyl? Another thought.
@@Nickle314 you can but it’s like setting off a glue bomb in your laser. I did it once and will never do it again
@@happygilder Ha ha!. Worth knowing. PS almost all drag knives I've seen are spring loaded.
I'm curious; how would you acid etch in-place on a vertical surface? I would like to see this on a thick old door we have in our shop. Thanks in advance.
I would take the door off and do it horizontally. If that's not an option then dammar embossing gives a similar effect. I've made a video about that process too
hi, tell me what proportions to use for hydrofluoric acid
Hey, I'm a beginner and I love what you do. I want to know where I can purchase. the mica you use for etching.
Thank you I’m glad you like the vids!! I get the mica from LKAB Minerals. I use the coarsest variant which is Mica 1700
Thanks for the info, but all I saw was mica fort, but if there's anyway I can purchase from you please let me know Thanks!@@happygilder
@@edwinruffin9599 I find this UK based company by searching ‘Mica Flakes’. I use the coarse variant.

Hope that helps :)
