Question: WHY would a CREATOR GOD (YHWH) be interested (or excited) in a group of grown up MEN playing DRESS-UP and then having competitions to see whose fancy dress costume is “the best”??
Do YOU find that fun or entertaining? Really??
There’s a verse in the Bible that goes something like this: “When you grow up, drop the childish things and be a grown up”.
Drop your childish habits and just be a grown up. Leave fancy dress Halloween costume parties alone.

When we talked after, she tried to convince me that I hated god because I was rejecting his plan for me. These girls might not be saying the quiet part out loud, but that is what they believe. That last part is something I think the rest of the world needs to be reminded of more often. "Why can't they just let us be? Why are they being hypocritical instead of giving a fair chance to other beliefs and opinions?" Because Christians believe they're obligated to make everyone Christian. It's one of their foundational beliefs. You can't trip up a Christian by saying "Haha, you said you wanted freedom of religion, but then you failed to give religious freedom to anyone but yourself! Checkmate!" That's the point, that's the point, that's the point!

@@Cici_CMJ exactly! That's how they get you! They rope you in with stories about Jesus so much that it becomes nostalgic, preach love thy neighbor as thy self, do unto others as you would yourself (😏), love is patient, love is kind and then you age out of Sunday school at like 15 and they're like "the presence of your shoulders turns on pastor Dave! Don't be such a sinful sl*t!", "being gay is bad, but don't hate the sinner, hate the sin, unless the sinner is you, then you better hate yourself", "we're all trash and undeserving of love! We all deserve to burn in hell! But because god is such a good person, he loves us even though we're garbage!"
I was ready to eat it up, but then they told me to read my Bible, ask questions and "struggle." Basically to use my brain. And that's why I couldn't drink the kool-aid anymore. Why would God be mad at muslims/buddhists/hindus/pegans etc. for guessing wrong about the origin of the universe? Why would God who is supposedly a perfect being, be jealous? Why would premarital sex be a sin? Why would acting on gay feelings be a sin? Why would a perfect and loving God ask a man to hand over his virgin daughters to be r*ped by soldiers to protect angels and then refer to that man as a righteous man? Why would God send bears to kill teenagers for calling a preacher bald?
Sorry, I'm deconstructing right now and need to throw my thoughts into the void.

What drives me further insane about the dumb color binary is that it's also completely arbitrary. They talk about gender norms like it's written in stone when in past societies men wore skirts, or robes, and had long hair that they possibly even braided themselves. As recently as the 1950s pink was considered a warm and masculine color, whereas blue was considered milder and softer, more appropriate for women. So it really doesn't matter either way, because society will always be changing its mind about what different aesthetics represent about the people expressing them.

As a pagan, I’ll never forget the time Girl Defined railed against Halloween for being demonic-pagan-filth and then advised their viewers to instead celebrate by going to a “harvest festival”….. which is literally closer to Pagan tradition than celebrating in the modern way😩😂🤡
My point being, they don’t know what they’re talking about.
I think it’s important to make it crystal clear that drag shows for adults are a totally different thing than drag events for children.
Drag shows/events for children are designed for a young audience. They revolve around education, reading, or just wholesome fun. They don’t contain any of the more explicit language or themes that may be present at events suited for adults.
Being against drag events for kids is like saying your kid can’t see Seussical because you saw Chicago once and thus, deam all musicals inappropriate for children.
It’s abundantly clear Girl Defined’s issue isn’t actually with the content of the shows themselves though. They hate anyone who doesn’t fit into their narrow world view. Full stop. It’s nothing more than “think of the children” fear mongering in an attempt to sway moderates towards their evangelical right wing extremism. They don’t care about children, they only care about furthering their agenda.

Very genuine question as a Jewish Studies person: Definitely with you on the translation issues and God being referred to by different genders at different times, and there are also some places where God is implied or even straight-up described as having a physical body, primarily in Genesis (unless you count God being embodied by fire and such later on) and probably as a vestige of the polytheism still present in ancient Israelite religion, but where is the God in drag coming from?
I did hear a talk by Jericho Vincent about the discussion of some gender queerness with Joseph and his sister Dinah related to them being switched in the womb and the gendered connotations of some of the words describing them and their actions, which I think is really cool.
And there's the whole "Six genders" thing. And on top of the gendered language translation issues, there's all the things that can't be truly understood because translation is never perfect, and we have very little cultural context. And connotation doesn't translate easily between even modern languages.
(Also, sorry if I seriously overexplained everything in that first paragraph; you probably knew all that, but I figure a lot of people who would come across this don't, and also I am bad at editing myself when discussing a special interest.

He proceeded to go down a list of why church was messed up and why he refused to go. My husband and I couldn’t argue with him. His logic was sound AF. (Plus, even when we were Mormon, we weren’t the kind of parents to force our kid to go to church.)
Our kid was 9 years old. His reasoning freed me to finally address the doubts gnawing at me my whole life. A lot of (messed up) things happened along the way but I credit my child for opening the door leading our family out of religion and into freedom.

I'm not inherently against people being religious. It certainly has its place in people's lives. What I am against is people using their religion as justification for bigotry and hatred. As well as denying science in favor of fantasy. There are certainly religious people who don't do that, but the majority (in my experience) do unfortunately.
At the end of the day, no matter what you believe all religions are fantasy. None of it is real. If it makes people feel good to believe it that's great. The trouble arises when they take it to the extreme and use it to spread hate towards others.
Fortunately, my parents came around. My mom and dad are still religious, but they are no longer bigoted religious extremists. My father is still a republican, unfortunately. When I was in high school I started going to drag shows at a local (non-alcohol serving) club that allowed 16-17 year olds until 11pm, mainly because it was one of the only things we could do as restless teens with home lives we would rather avoid. I didn't even fully know what drag was at first, but I vibed so hard with the theater aspects that I got hooked real quick. Some of my best memories are sitting on a patio surrounded by drag queens smoking cigarettes and shooting the shit or sweating profusely in a little curtained off area trying to pin a wig to a moving target. The confidence was infectious, and I needed it. That was where I learned that the definition of who I am can only be written by me and to be unashamed of whoever that is. I would gladly trade all my church memories for that club to have survived the pandemic (It did not).

"You don't want to bring your kids to a drag show because they might learn what it's like to enjoy a Saturday afternoon."

Any "Christians" proclaiming God hates anything are suffering through some intense cognitive dissonance. The great Creator made all of us and hates none of us and their own "good book" tells them that being judgmental like this is going to send them to their own version of hell, and it says this *very plainly* . Maybe they should try reading their entire book and reflecting on it and getting off the internet for awhile, like, forever.

I'm pretty sure that drag event with the "it's not gonna lick itself" sign was in a chain ice cream parlor, NOT a night club, so they were just lying about that

You are 💯 correct!!! The Dallas cowboy cheerleaders are more suggestive. It's just an excuse to project their self loathing onto LGBTQIA individuals. Also, they need to learn some color correcting techniques from those drag queens for those under eye circles bc mama!!!

I love how they seem to think people go through all the 'options' as if they're deciding what color to paint their living room. Standing in front of a mirror holding up different gender swatches debating between Ivory Gender and Eggshell Gender. They're just definitions, yo. You just find the one that describes the way you already feel.
I bet they get overwhelmed at the "how are you feeling" option on FB, there's just so many options how do you pick which emotion you want be?!

They're both definitely Eggshell gender; pale, easily shattered, tasteless yet horribly unpleasant

LOL, I know, right?! My thoughts exactly. People aren't confused by acknowledging multiple gender identities. They know who they are.

i like how they said drag was ruining mental health but then have done podcasts with people who r “ex” gay when multiple people who’ve been apart of the ex gay movement or have done conversion therapy have unalived themselves

I started going to drag shows many years ago in high school. My friends and I would get decked out in our Hot Topic alt gear and go to downtown Oklahoma City and spend all night at the Wreck Room. The queens were fabulous and I'll never forget those memories!!
