    Great video. Enjoyed watching and learned so much from it. Will this glue also work well with outdoor signs and stick in rain and sun?

    • @Spectron
      @Spectron 3 года назад +4

      When using the neon flex for external use, it's important to ensure all connections are fully waterproof. Glue is not a guaranteed reliable solution; we recommend using winged neon (www.ledsignsandlighting.co.uk/winged-neon-flex) which is push fit and does not need to be stuck down and doesn't require glue. You would need to route a channel into your acrylic back panel using an appropriate CNC cutter (see www.ledsignsandlighting.co.uk/winged-neon-flex-CNC-cutter). Alternatively you could use silicon to bond the neon. It is essential you make all the connections watertight, or better still, encase the sign in a clear acrylic box.

      We use Adobe Illustrator to create our design and then send this to a fabricator (or CNC cutting provider) to cut a 5mm or 10mm thick acrylic back panel out to our design. They can router a channel out for you to stick the neon flex into (this will be shown in the next video), or you can use as template as in this video. You can also use PVC foam as a back panel. It is opaque and a cheaper alternative to acrylic. Hope that helps!

    @nataliepintor262 3 года назад

    What size acrylic sheet is that? Or what size are recommend for an indoor sign?

    • @Spectron
      @Spectron 3 года назад +1

      The thickness of the acrylic depends on the size of the sign. As this is a small size sign, we used 5mm thick acrylic. For larger signs we tend to use 10mm thick. For external signs, you can use the same thickness as for internal, or better to box the sign in to protect against rain and adverse weather conditions.

    When cutting the neon at a angle is it okay to miss the solder point? I don’t understand how you can cut it that way and still solder it

    • @Spectron
      @Spectron 2 года назад

      Yes it's fine, just try not to cut into the led chips. You can still solder it because you can cut into the silicone casing to "expose" the led strip inside. If you gently peel back the silicone to access the solder pads, you can solder your wires and then put the silicone tube back in place and glue any cuts you've made. If you're making an outdoor sign, we wouldn't recommend doing this unless you are 100% sure water cannot get through the silicone tube. Once you start practicing, it should become clearer!

    • @Spectron

      We didn't to this one, but yes you can add a dimmer. The neon we use isn't the brightest on the market, as we find that the brightest neon is, like you say, overwhelmingly bright for constant use, and it uses more power. It is also produces more heat which over time damages the LEDs.

      LED Neon Flex is designed to replace traditional glass neon. It is highly durable, fully flexible and easy to install. Made with a silicone or PVC material housing high powered LED Strip. Ours is cuttable at 10mm intervals, but this can vary depending on brand.

      This is something we monitor regularly and they are in line with other trade suppliers. Our deliveries in the UK are next day as standard, and global rates are based on a three day transit time.

    Thanks for teaching me how to make LED line sign, not neon. Actual neon is from glass, not plastic. Learn the difference.

      Please note the video description which reads: "Here a sign maker with over 30 years experience in the field and 12 years experience selling and developing LED products for the signage industry explains how you can create a custom made LED neon sign using LED Neon Flex."

      Look up the definition of neon and you will see there is no way you can call this stuff neon. Nothing about it is neon. Please give it a name that does not say neon. Respect the craft and show some respect for what you do which is not making neon signs... how about this, cutting corners and silicone led strips that look similar to neon because we can't really make neon because that would require years of training, practice and dedication... Not to mention the science involved. Anyone with two hands and some time could make these signs. Neon will always be neon and the misinformation you people spread is downplaying the real artistry of neon!
