    One thing that is out in the open and yet may not get much thought is that with this company almost no one is on foot or do we ever see a hand held chain saws or any individuals not seated in mobile equipment as part of the normal job efforts, Smart. This ”system” has been the type of logging we had since late 70:s over here in europe. Higher production with less people and equipment. Cleaner logs for the mill and these days, they will get all needed data directly from the harvester. And it save lives! 👍 Felling timber with a chainsaw is one of the most danderous jobs you can find...

      Very very few logging jobs get replanted by man...natural regeneration is what happens most often. Replanting is usually do ON PLANTATIONS where specific species are desired...red pine is one of the main ones here...paper/lumber mills.

    Chris, been watching for awhile. Great content and good to see a Boomer still enjoying the work! As I'm starting a retirement side hustle with firewood, I have a question; With all the pallets how do you keep the tires inflated on the equipment? With winter freeze and general handling I would think nails/screws would become a nemesis. Keep at it, I enjoy watching from Duluth.

    What kind of wood was that with the strips of bark falling off?

    • @iffykidmn8170
      @iffykidmn8170 3 месяца назад +3

      popple/aspen spring growth sap run causes the bark to strip off easily during the spring time, not sure if it is still practiced or not but complete peeling of popple in the springtime used to be a part of some logging operations and offered more money per cord offered by the paper mills as it reduced their operation one process once at the mill. Peeled popple usually required drying on the landing for sometime before being hauled as the fresh slippery wood would slide off from the log trucks otherwise.

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  3 месяца назад +1

      Aspen, poplar, popple all the same...it does that in the spring ..a lot of wood is very..."moist" in the spring when the sap is running.

    Pivoting seat on that John Deere. How much separating goes on in the woods of different types of wood ?

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  3 месяца назад

      Separating kind of wood/size/use/quality all gets done as they cut somewhat then as it is skidded and again at the landing. Finally as it is loaded and hauled.
